What would you go for in place of a supra?

Hi all,

Now that my supra is almost finished,

I’m contemplating a more driver friendly prestige motor, maybe an r8 v10 or r35 GTR...

As many others on here seem to feel the same, every now and then I think about selling my supra to have less of a garage queen more comfortable weekend driver...

What would you guys buy in place of your supra?

600bhp @ 1bar, so not overly uncomfortable... but some of the more modern cars that you can still put your foot down in and burn rubber whilst being super comfortable is becoming quite appealing. My supra having the work that’s been done and the noises that come with the territory are becoming more of an annoyance as the days go on. I’d say a max budget of £40k if I sold the supra and added some dollar in wouldn’t quite land an r8 v10... and the v8 just wouldn’t do it for me... someone in the work car park already has one.

When you've had them for a long time during which they were largely worthless or certainly there were no real value for money alternatives, you can start to get your eye turned by newer stuff I think.

Sort of "I've had my fun in this" it cannot continue to cost me very little, perhaps now is the time to go modern more expensive, the cost to change now being more viable/palatable.

There is a big grass is always greener/better the devil you know aspect too though, so I'm staying put right now.

I wouldnt say the r8 v8 performance will blow you away

I test drove one a few weeks back and it felt slower midrange compared to my 400hp supra

My supra is 403 bhp and the daily estate is 507 bhp so I won’t be late for the school runs.

Wouldn’t do it personally, went this route with my 5L V8 Lexus ISF and whilst it was a lovely car (especially once I added the supercharger), still hankered and missed owning a Supra. That’s why I’m back in one and loving every minute of owning and building it to my dream spec.

Don’t think I want anything else, but if I ever do it will be in addition to the Supra.

Just my 2p worth. :)

I want a v8

All really depends on your budget

Was out in littlenums Holden supercharged recently pulls like a train and so comfortable

Krista and I are heading past castle motors today... may have to see what they’ve got in stock and go for a test drive or 2...

I’d say a max budget of around £40k.

I've owned or driven lots of cars and there are only two that have ever engaged me as a man and machine in grinning harmony, on is the Mk4 Supra and the other is a 2.8 special Capri. There are too many driver aids and in cab comforts to deliver the as one feeling these days. If it has to be modern then comfort wins and it'd have to be a newer Range Rover than the one I own, a big Merc or a Bentley for me. These things happen, we all get older by the day and 8.176 of those days have passed by since I bought my Supra. I think the answer to the question is largely defined by age group.

Something I miss is cargo space so probably some fast estate dad car.

I'm still young and foolish enough to buy old unreliable cars, even though I need cargo space. I've bought a forester sti as a daily. It's a bit more of a boat than the Supra, but pretty close in terms of performance.
