  1. If this is a budget breaker, definitely stay oem and invest in the best parts possible. But money no object, there's no reason not too.
  2. There are trader links around the site if you look properly and I'd say just about every type of single turbo, on different budgets has been built somewhere on the forum you will just have to find links. If you YouTube a T78 supra, I imagine you will get alot of videos from 1998, its fine but things have come a very long way since then. I wouldn't try and build a single turbo on a small budget, the extra power could quickly reveal other flaws in your car and totally ruin your ownership experience. I'd happily travel and give my car away for a period of time to make sure work was done correctly and I'd definitely recommend coming around to that way of thinking as there Is nobody noteworthy anywhere near you unfortunately.
  3. Why is travelling for the correct advice, work and tuning your main concern? My advice would be to take it to someone who knows what they are doing and enjoy the car. Burna will be running a small single turbo setup on the stock ecu and injectors. If you bought a high end ECU your mapper will be able to remote log in and help diagnose any issues but this isn't cheap. I wouldnt want a T78 for the setup your seeking, in real terms bpu will still probably be faster and more enjoyable to drive minus the great noise. Don't make a car dictated by budget, wait and purchase complimentary parts.
  4. I'm sure the yanks won't give a flying feck about that being UK spec mate, end of the day it's RHD, I'd keep it over here or Europe.
  5. Blocks are the same, obviously they have different rods pistons and the oil squirters but most built engines remove them I think as you have to bend the squirters as aftermarket piston skirts are different, as are the crowns the oil shoots at, so they probably don't work as intended anyway. Vvti blocks have a larger oil outlet to feed the vvti head I think. Not sure you could just overbore one cylinder?
  6. And if you look at the bottom end of the list you see TT autos being beaten by N/A's. I understand what you are trying to say but even though the race is in a straight line there are far too many factors involved to come to that conclusion. Getting down the 1320 the fastest is alot harder than it looks at first glance.
  7. It's your car, enjoy it. Saying that a single auto loses to a bpu auto simply isn't true at all, a badly setup car won't fulfill its potential no matter what it is in any given situation without even factoring in driver ability. A 1000bhp manual supra will drive just like standard around town - and make more power faster than a stock car, you just need to choose the correct parts. And no its not cheap. Owning a single turbo Supra is great fun, and the noise is incredible. Keep the miles off of your original parts and go back to stock whenever you want, that will keep the purists happy too.
  8. Nice thread, and a good opening read. Looking forward to seeing this progress.
  9. @j_jza80 don't feed the troll :d
  10. With the promise of 90% chance of precipitation and a yellow warning for strong winds (according to google/met office) I wonder how many will show sadly.
  11. Nice photos, some interesting cars right there.
  12. Don't take it to much to heart Al, attendance has been in decline across the board for everything this year, all the event organisers have put alot of effort in and it doesn't go unnoticed to those who attend
  13. Says on the box 86.5mm. As a side note I'm sure I was told they don't make the 87mm pistons anymore.
  14. Recaro Sportster CS, sat on bride rails.
  15. I can only echo the sentiments, that was another great trip, always good to see the cars out getting some use in the glorious weather we had. Big public shout out to Ellis for getting my partner and I out of a situation too, that was greatly appreciated by us both.
  16. Awesome way to get the running in miles done mate. Looks great.
  17. If I were you I'd most certainly be looking into breaking it and coming over to buy another. I'm sure that with such a spread of members all over different parts of the country we could help you get something better from any location. I understand the 'fix philosophy'....but time is also money, and it looks like it will cost alot of both.
  18. Interested in the TRD engine strut bar if thats what I think it is, is it chrome or grey?
  19. Great work mate, putting alot of thought and time into the parts but the finished product shows. Probably missed it but what's the plans for the single Turbski setup?
  20. Love that, looks so much better.
  21. I agree, there definitely won't be anything game changing about it, it will be designed to fit into a price point, and people will have to recognise that. But with a good engine, good looks and some hybrid tech it could be a great little car to own.
  22. I'm not so sure about that Ellis, I wouldn't call any of the Lexus stable 'sporty', they are fast and luxurious to my eyes so I think there is definitely room for something just as fast and a little more raw, which is how I kind of always viewed it, bit of a working class hero. I'm fan of the Mkiv as much as anyone else but I won't be disappointed to see a BMW inline 6 in one, they are brilliant engines and make all the right noises - the purist should be thankful it hasn't totally lost its lineage like the Nissan skyline and switched to V6. If it looks like the photos it could be a great car to have sat next to a Mkiv one day I think.
  23. Its final appearence, for now is just pure speculation, as will be its future status. The youth may adopt it as theirs; who knows. Remodeling parts for a 25 year old chassis with a few thousand owners worldwide though is a pretty terrible business idea. There are plenty of new parts out there now already available that will keep you running for years to come.
