few pics of the finished product then. ready for a startup. Apart from the time spent on the electical side of things and wiring in the new S6+ the only issue was a broken fuel return line which sheared, quite annoying! So all oil,air and water lines are all plumbed now, all ready to go. Might have a little start up video kicking around somewhere too.
-
Thanks pal, yes it took a bit of a kicking. Will get to that later when the build thread catches up Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for anyway, just buy the correct parts, stay ontop of maintenance and enjoy it.
-
Yeah, a shame its hidden away, but its great news for small diff owners thats for sure. Definitely worth considering, nice to see new parts being made available in the UK too. Thanks mate, not managed to update this thread that far yet, will just add as I go.

Thanks mate, glad you liked it. Might see you out this summer after you're dyno session

Yeah it looks a great bit of kit, and as we all know, a project car is never finished ! I think I mentioned it somewhere in the build that i'm just going to stick to tried and tested parts, graciously let others do the testing while I combine the best results into one package. Staying within the mapper and builders proven previous work will (hopefully) allow for a powerful and reliable platform - and in our little world that means Syvecs. Little update then: You may have seen a new part come out of the SRD workshop, the billet diff covers. I have a spare big case diff and the cover was sent away to be copied and strengthend for a new product; and what an awesome piece it is! I guess luckily it was a UK spec, as Lee has even left prevision to still use (or add) a diff oil cooler, it's these little details that add up to create a far superior package i think you will agree Anyway, Pics now added to my build as I didn't want to release them before he officially offered them for general consumption. Hopefully the drivetrain will handle the power now, time will tell i suppose!

Looks nice for sure, I was considering a purpose built loom but the engine I bought had a nice loom on it so I got what I wanted from it. Good for people to know there are other options available out there though, id probably steer away from Motec though purely as there don't seem to be many mappers here for them?

Another whats my supra realistically going to fetch.

You have to agree with him that in the past they weren't worth as much? Well id agree too, you are doing nothing more than stating the obvious. They are worth more now, there aren't an abundance of unmodified cars and I for one would much rather buy a car with a fresh original paint than a stone chipped, dented mess if I could. Alot of the big singles that come up for sale wont make 25k, imo to break that barrier it must have a built engine. There will be people out there prepared to pay it, because the cost involved in doing it are much higher as we all know. To the OP, id not be selling for less than 6k, it will be a lovely example for anyone looking into ownership. I think your american idea may backfire though as its an aerotop, hardtops are rare there. -
Thank you mate. No idea, it must be hidden in plain sight I remember seeing / hearing yours at Wroxall, looks and makes a great noise. 6870 seems the way everyone is going at the moment, but you're turbo isn't all that different anyway
-
Well when you do go single bud, it sound as good as amazing as it looks, will be a great update
-
Yeah it looks a little like that but I think the chamber may be a touch smaller than the Greddy, it's just a very compact design Thanks mate, more updates on yours this summer too i hope.

Hi mate, yes as you said they catch vapour and condense it. Its not much and unless I hadn't told you, you wouldn't know any different if behind me. I do prefer it that way as id rather not have murky vapours recirculating if possible, I doubt oem manufacturers would either, but they are tied to regulations.
-
In what respect mate? The smell or incase there is an engine oil fire? Either way it ends up on the road or the smell vents infront of or behind me.
-
Thats a bold statement, but one I will happily take Thanks Jim Yeah as Luc says, no catch can on the builds, the lines run off of the engine and vent out of the rear of the car at the drivers side.

Now with the engine in the build has progressed visually really nicely. Firstly the turbo to intercooler pipe is fabricated and recieves the matt black treatment. Whilst there, I asked Lee to mock up some custom engine bay boxes. I think all the guys at SRD have done a great job on the build so far, I always love coming to my phone to recieve pics like this, guaranteed smiles. The intercooler to inlet throttle body has been fabricated and received the same treatment, black ofcourse but the upper half has a mirror polished finish. Firstly heres a close up of the HKS BOV installation. Installation of the PHR billet power steering reservoir, a close fit, but what a great looking piece of kit. And this is probably my favourite pic of the build so far, with the pipework coming through in mirror finish. Those of you who can see past the shiney stuff will have noticed alot of wiring to do next so thats it for now. Hopefully I will be out enjoying the sun and the car with everyone else soon.

My car used to have bonnet vents, never again if left outside outside. Nice work bringing the bay back to show condition.

for sale Single Turbo 6 speed £5k price drop

Have no fear you're car is worth a good amount and is looked after. The OP just seems to have a vendetta against modified cars that are worth more than his sort of oem car, and questionable market forecasts. Don't know why tbh. Quite baffling. -
Here it is then, the turbo and manifold, gleaming and polished. Love how it all looks, absolute work of art this manifold, the kind of thing i'd hang on a wall not put in a car ! 6870 turbo, I actually think its quite small given it's capabilities, but it does fit nicely between the engine and strut tower anyway. Giant 60mm Turbo smart wastegate with a 2.5" screamer pipe ! This thing really has a comical size to it All the thermo sleeving added on the oil return lines, and thats it for now.

Sorry mate but but six speed owners aren't going to dump their boxes suddenly for an 8 speed auto lol And as has already been discussed the development lies with syvecs not SRD on it. I can already tell from your post that you want a manual, an auto would be a compromise and you know full well why. There is less driver involvement, you are not in full control. It works very well as a daily driver and cruiser but somehow making comparissons of a 25 year old box ( and it is a good box ) to an ultra modern DSG speeding around B roads just is not fair, they are not even close! If your aim is to have a small single turbo one day then my advice is to save the extra and simply buy a well specced single turbo in the first place, yes initial outlay is higher but it will cost you alot less in the long run.
-
:d Haha thanks pal, its going to start looking alot better soon
-
Trackstuff is who I use, I think its Jeff Ludgate who runs it, nice guy and own a very powerful R34 drag car. Those are some nice wheels, im sure they will look great on the car
-
Where are you ordering your tyres then? I can't say it was exactly 'hard' to order anything. What rims have you gone for ?
-
Glad you can enjoy it, theres definitely better to come Yeah it's going to look pretty damn good. Although it's becoming apparent the 6870 has a somewhat cult following at SRD towers now, there must be 5/6 out cars out there with more in the pipeline, so i know already what it will look like Thanks mate, I don't know if I have seen it before, I had this done a while ago now but i'm sure someone else had theirs anodised. In my mind i've designed the engine bay to be as monochrome as possible with mostly black, anything thats polished is simply to draw higher attention to key components ( Turbo, cams and inlet ) while parts painted in black 202 will match the original paintwork and appear blended into the body. Lee and the team have done a great job realising my ideas thats for sure and its nice to see something you imagined coming together as well as you'd hoped. Almost all items below the head will be black as you will see and while it gives a sort of show car finish it should actually be quite easy to maintain as anything that requires polishing is within simple grasp. ( hopefully hah! )

Yeah, I phoned a UK based drag racing company and spoke to the guys about a few options (one was what you have), Nitto's and Hoosier. They all used Hoosier and you often see them in the E.T street race series at santa pod with people running times in the 7's which makes it a known quantity. They did however say there wasn't much in it, and the Hoosiers were available and i think a fraction cheaper. ( And they have white wall writing, sold ! )
-
I think they are slightly bigger than a 10j but nothing worth talking about. Lee just told me what jay used to have and I went with it. Mickey thompsons only goto 295 I think.
-
I have hoosiers in 325 / 50 / 15 with some supra spec welds by real street. Haven't fitted them yet but apparently its what Jays supra had on it before it got totalled. I wanted to make use of my arches, so maximum rubber.
