  1. Thanks mate, more pics on their way then. So here it is, the engine is finally in and the car will start taking shape quickly up until everything like wiring needs to be done. With this install the aircon is going back in, I think the 6870 will create enough power to overcome the additional weight Everything is blacked out, even the new oil coolers. Thermo sleeving added and new exhaust manifold studs put in. 5" ETS intercooler blacked out, really love this. It will make it a little harder for people to see if its a turbo or not. Lastly the site foreman checked, mumbled something unintelligable, smiled and gave the job his seal of approval. Onwards and upwards then! Hope you enjoy the updates, will be more pics coming of the turbo and exhaust manifold soon which will really show what the complete engine bay will look like.
  2. Crikey, that turbo is enormous! What power is it rated to, I think I missed it?
  3. Clutch is fitted and it looks a great piece, time will tell as to how it feels and holds up but RPS has a mostly good reputation so i have high hopes. Also you are constantly coming across parts that are worn and want replacing, this time a selector bearing if i remember correctly. Engine to be fitted next
  4. As above really, anyone got an SRD sub box for sale? a bit of a longshot i know but thought i'd ask. Also Seat belt clips for front seats, I sold mine with a set so i need some more, anyone? Thanks.
  5. Thanks bud . Yes, clutch to fit and then it can go in. Thanks guys, there has been many a nice engine done over the years, so theres plenty of inspiration to draw from throughout the forum. Yeah Chris, they are doing a great job, if it goes as well as it looks I will be happy indeed.
  6. Yes, moar updates, with lots of pictures. This time the Billet fuel rail and 1500cc ASNU injectors have been fitted. The upper waterneck as been finished in a satin black and below on the waterpump some SRD bracketry, keeps everything neat and tidy. A couple of finishing shots showing it all coming together, just need to see something on the exhaust side next.
  7. I don't want to foot the bill either mate, I'm short of a sugar daddy at the moment though Thanks Luc Thanks, that's what im going for, modified 'classy' if that can be a thing. It's got to be single turbo though doesn't it . Hah, I know what you mean but I have all the undertrays and with them in place it doesn't get dirt atall.
  8. Most of the parts are on the engine now, I bought a PHR black edition pulley set in the black friday sales possibly two years ago as I already knew how I wanted the engine to look back then although I didn't think i'd own a VVTi, there are apparent advantages so Lee talked me into that. VVTi and the 6870 turbo should make for one hell of a street car if recent dynographs are anything to go by. I got the waterpump cover, blackened but it covers up alot of the billet machining, these little minor details really stand out on a well dressed engine, have a look for yourself, but i decided to run it without, looks alot botter in my opinion. Ohh and that little oil cooler and housing got itself an oil filter, we're getting there now, more and more an engine every update. Thanks for looking.
  9. Thanks bud, it's been nice seeing your's become complete, I remember when the engine was on a stand next to mine hah Yeah Modine oil cooler, Decided that as its a new engine and turbo why run the risk of contaminants, got Lee to change all the parts in the oil system.
  10. Yeah I have the prop and diff cover, the torque is quite the killer isn't it!
  11. Yeah I was thinking about upgrading the driveshafts, i guess that would be the last link in the puzzle. We will probably have a boring race mate, same turbo . Still looking forward to having a spin with you again though.
  12. Yes? But who cares about corners, I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
  13. looking forward to a race now Luc, hope you resolve this little issue.
  14. That bay looks lovely and clean mate, keep it up, it's getting there now.
  15. Thanks lads, here's another update just for you then. The aircon is going back in, this is probably one of my favourite retro refits mods, it will be great on summer trips to cool back down In keeping with the theme though, everythings going black. Heres an item you don't see being fitted new very often Engine dress will be finished in the next update.
  16. So parts have been to and from the polishers and the rest of the engine can start to have things bolted to it. In one of the photos you can see down the runner into the engine, such a nice finish on the hypertune parts. Thanks for looking
  17. Nice to see another single turbo coming into the fray, i'm sure once you get a full standalone on there to unleash it's potential you will have an awesome fair weather car, single turbo is such a great experience.
  18. Next round of updates, no shiny content unfortunately, maybe next time The heatshield is still in place on my car, I guess it kinda ruins the look a little but it serves a purpose, the single turbo cars do get hot! The lads took the car our and car the bay a clean, Cleanliness is next to godlyness and all that. Next up is to take the VVTi loom, tinker with it and then start extending all the wiring to take the fuse box from under the passenger headlight to the boot. So after that, this is the new boot locations, Ignore that massive AMP, it won't be staying. Washer bottle also removed from the bay, crackle finished and dropped in the boot. And thats how the boots looks once finished, clean and OEM, just how i like it. I will fit a small sub in the spare wheel well at some points, I doubt I can get a spare that will fit in there and over the big brakes anyway. Thats it for now
  19. Thanks guys, I might get some more updates tomorrow
  20. Remember also they sometimes do runs on racefuel and when you watch races on the 'texas streets' they're always on racefuel, will make a massive difference to the power output. They do lie about power figures but we setup our cars completely differently, we like a corner or two, they set theirs up for highway and drag racing.
  21. Has to make 1000bhp absolute minimum now, no pressure
  22. Glad you like it, here's some more So the engine build part is complete and here it is in all of it's glory with a new SRD billet tensioner and crinkle finish on the inside of the cam covers only. The covers themselves have been polished and yes baffles removed and cleaned while the head had the new AN fitting's welded and smoothed. Lee also took apart the VVTi cam pulley gave it a clean and a good once over - Any maintenance items on this car are simply replaced. New TRD oil cap finishes the head nicely and TRD engine mounts hold it all in place. C'est Fini I bought some new VVTi engine covers and these were sent to the paint shop to be treated to some Astral 202. With the engine finished it should now look really great in the bay.
  23. Cheers Mike, theres alot more to come
  24. Thanks Shawn, getting there. Few more updates then, this is the finished head and block coming together. The head has been painted the same colour as the block so the polished hypertune will 'pop' against it.
  25. Couple more parts, SRD 170amp alternator which I had done in black Prepping the block, inspection and machining.
