Came to the Japshow at Santa pod on sunday, was pretty awesome, my first experience of drag racing. I came to the supra paddock, had wanted to chat to a few owners but none about i dont think. Really awesome cars though. Great day too!

Thanks for your replies. well i already have about 10k to spend, but im going to save alot more, probably nearer 20k and just see where to go from there, im quite young so i dont mind waiting a couple of years just for insurance premiums to cool down. I would like to build my own so i know it inside out but if there are reputable sellers both private and commercial then i dont mind buying one complete. Hi, i expect you hear stuff like this all the time, but here i go anyway..... I am looking at getting a supra within the next 2 years and have already been saving up,and want some advice on what to do. I want a single turbo supra and would like to aim for about 600hp with the goal of eventually joining the club and getting a few runs in at Santa pod myself. But i want to know whether or not it is a good idea to just buy one at that spec and maintain it from there ( i notice they're usually 14k - 16k, but would obviously save rather alot of money and time ) or is it more sensible to get a stock TT ( UK preferably) and perform the conversion and upgrades myself so i know what has happened to the car? ( I should point out here that my car knowledge is pretty limited, however i maintain aircraft so i do have transferable skills and learn very very fast ) I am 90% certain i am going to the Jap Show at Santa pod in October, i believe there is a good attendance from the club on Sunday 4th? Might it be a good idea to pop over and have a chat with a few 'in the know' members? Thanks in advance.

im sure it has been covered a million times over, but im not going to troll for it. Thanks for the info, ill goto some meets, talk to some people face to face see whether i think its worth it or not, id like the car, but want to be able to use it too.

all very well when you know this information, which is why im here, to find out a bit more, find out how much and where the money goes, find out if its worth it. Plenty of things that i know which you wouldnt have a clue about chaps, im not a 15 year old on a pipe dream, just a man on a mission.

Okay, so it costs alot. Where is the bulk cost of a project like this, from what ive seen, parts arent that pricey, so am i correct in assuming its the manual labour that is behind the high price tag ?

Ive seen all the vids on youtube and ive been trying to gather as much info as i can. But what i want to know is how much does it cost to make about an 800wrhp Supra (I know they can be alot more powerful, but i dont have that sort of cash spare for a project ) and exactly how reliable is it, can you use it day to day or does it need constant maintenance ? Any info is appreciated or sites with info, supra meets etc. Thanks.
