The way commentators talk about it, they've never seen bike racing, draughting and planning the best point to overtake is part of the game, its called race craft. Im happy with DRS, both as an attacking and defensive tool

without it we wouldn't have had the Verstappen - Leclerc battle!

From memory, Albert Park isn't too long when it comes to straights so I'd be willing to bet that even these 4 DRS zones don't add up to the same distance as 2 DRS zones in some of the other tracks (espscially those with long ass straights like Baku).

It's basically 2 standard DRS zones with each one split up by a chicane.

I thought the whole point of the new cars was so they could follow another car closely and be able to slip stream it, then do a standard

send it up the inside out braking maneuver

Following is one thing, overtaking is another. It's removing the straight line speed advantage of the more powerful cars to even out the field. The proof as they say will be in the pudding, so lets see what happens on Sunday.

Nobody would ever have said Mercedes would be leading the constructors at this point!

Great race, especially in the mid pack. I was quite alarmed how much porpoising the Ferrari and Mercedes have versus the Red Bull. The head on shots were brilliant. Lots of work still to do

It seems as though Mercedes are happy as long as they outperform Red Bull. Ferrari are likley going to run away with it eventually.

It's almost as if Lewis is starting to relax into a bit more of a Seb personality now as well. Just out there to enjoy it a little more than usual

Kind of hard to watch Hamilton having no option but to concede his cars shite and that every weeks ‘rescue’ week. To go from total domination to lucky if he’s in the top 10 must hurt.

Not looking forward to numerous Grand Prix races must suck for a driver, is it all simply down to this hopping/not getting the power down or is something else a foot?

Im stunned nobody has got to the bottom of the bouncing yet, I thought at least one team would have got something. The Mercedes looked a total pig on the straights. The Ferrari too but they seem to have got the stability on the brakes. Toto said they just cant get heat in the tyres

Interesting race! Charles dropping the ball was totally unexpected, as was Russell recovering to P4, but Norris in P3 is always good to see. Can't help but feel for Carlos Sainz too.

It seems that Mercedes are in a worse position than they even thought, the bouncing is a lot worse than Ferrari as it starts at a lower speed, meaning they are not only losing down the straights but also through the mid-high speed corners. Lifting the ride height helps Mercedes compromise, but that too is costing a lot of time as the car was simply not designed to be run that high, at that angle. It must be difficult to even find the issue as their wind tunnel time is lowest of any team.

Just shows it's a long championship and anything can and will happen.

Great result for Red Bull Norris and Russell, my question is if Russell can make it work to a point why can't Hamilton

LeClerc very luck to not break more than just the front wing

Roll on Miami

The DRS train only compounded the issues with the car for Hamilton. Poor strategy call, should have brought him in a lap earlier for the undercut, they had nothing to lose by giving it a go.

Agreed it was a missed opportunity and as you say they’d nothing to lose. Happy for Norris/Russell always
