Glad to see you're back behind the wheel, hope the ankles healing well.

The times will definitely get better with practice however, what we all want to know is, how badly did you beat the 350z :eyebrows:

Thanks buddy - only going to use the Supe periodically for a while I think now that I have the Honda S-MX as a daily. That'll keep my ankle from being overworked if it is ever still feeling tender for the next wee while :)

Frustratingly, Pete had boost issues with his 350 so the Supra was killing him, but it wasn't really a fair time to determine it!

I feel the polishing pain buddy! Glad I only have the lips to do!!!

Is Pete - Peter Clark!?

Haha yeah man, the full wheel polishing is rubbish and taking forever, but it gives me a good end-goal as I know they'll come up! Was going to send them down to Mike the Polisher, but the quote was higher than I expected so thought to give them a go myself! :)

And yeah, it's Pete Clark! I've been close mates with him for 6 years or something now

Looks good buddy! Glad to hear you're back driving it again!

Cheers Jesse! Me too! Just need to keep on top of the cleaning so that it is always as much of a head turner every time I drive it as it was today  :D

Same reason I did my BBS LMs myself mate.

I did drop a few other little bits in for Mike to do and it's been over two weeks now...still won't be ready until mid next week apparently so starting to think I should have done them myself also.

Yeah dude - if this meet is a go at the end of the month maybe then? :)

Ah that sucks dude! I don't have a 2nd set of wheels for the Supe so wouldn't want it sitting on stands for that period of time either! At least I could just put one on once it was done! Need to get the rears done now :)

I definitely need a lot of practice with drag racing :D My times were terrible  The Crail surface isn't great anyway, but I wasn't doing myself any favours. Either I'd bog down a bit or just light up the wheels for the first 100ft or so! My best time was a 13.1 at 113.9mph. That was with a 2.332 60ft time though, which is not so good! I need to work on bringing this down. Hopefully I can get into 12s from there and then look towards 11s with drag radials etc. :) My proud moment was the 0.07 reaction time :D I did have 2 runs where I went 1st, 2nd, 5th and hit 14.0 each time. Oops. :innocent: I'll get there though :)

It felt so good to be back behind the wheel again.

Glad to see the ankle is healed. I bet that was the longest 9 weeks ever!

Drag racing is huge fun(and strangely addictive), but I wouldn't get too caught up in the times, just race the other lane. Did you race anyone else or just the 350Z?

With regard to that reaction time, a RT of .007 would have given you a red light on a pro tree like Crails. Or do you mean a RT of .407, which would be be a superb RT(there is a 0.4s delay between the yellow light going off and the Green light coming on) You aren't waiting for the green light to go, you are waiting on the yellow light goings off. :)

Basically, a .407 RT would be a superb bit of timing and not a reaction time as such(however you would still get a green light). The quickest it's physically possible for a human to react is .110 with the median being around .215

Do you have the time slips from Crail? They aren't updated online yet, but you can keep an eye on here and it should come up in the next couple of weeks.

Low 13's is a good starting point, were you doing a good burnout before each race?

As you say, with a bit of work you'll easily be in the 12's. However the only annoyance would be pulling up next to some of the latest mega hot hatches which can put in consistent times like this: http://www.crailraceway.co.uk/showdrag.php?RID=21&EVDate=2014-03-30

But there's not much skill involved if you have an automatic, 4WD car with launch control.

But glad to see you healed and back in the car and enjoying it. :)

Thanks Steven  It ended up 11 weeks! Regardless, it felt like forever! :) I'm still in the healing process for sure, but it is so much better than it was!

It wasn't just Pete's 350Z no - there was another charged 350, an Impreza (a FAST one right enough!), 33GTR, some mad old Audi and a couple of others that I can't recall! Was winning most of (I think 11/13) the runs in terms of actually crossing the line first. Just not getting the numbers!

Not a 0.007 but a 0.07(6). That is what it came up as on my time slip anyway! I knew it was extremely quick on that one for sure! My quickest ET actually had a poor reaction (1.035). Over all 13 runs it was 0.65 as an average RT. Still room for improvement there!

I wasn't always doing a burnout no. I probably should have right enough!

Here is the slip (third to last run was the good RT!) :)

Looks like you either red lighted or there was an error in that run tbh, there's no terminal speed either.

Wouldn't get too worried about your RT, you can sit there as long as you want and your ET will still be the same 13s even if your RT was 20s.

RT only really comes into effect if you are doing handy capped drag racing against a car either significantly faster or slower and they are allowed a head start. Which they don't do at RWYB events. You would declare an average of say 13.6 and someone else 15.6, they would have a 2s head start, but in theory you would finish at the same time, then reaction time comes into play.

The three 2.3s 60ft times were your best chance to get into the 12s. Put it this way, taking 0.1 off you 60ft(down to 2.2) time would have seen you in the 12s. :)

Nice win ratio, you must be well please with that. The scooby and the R33 would have been tough to beat off the line.

I know that they were having trouble with sensors playing up on the day, but yeah something probably went amiss! It was against the fast Scooby that I had the quick start (pic below ;) haha)!

Yeah definitely just need to practice a bit and get into the 12s. I'll be happier then! Still an alright first attempt I guess! And yeah, that R33 had me off the line, but I had him beat by about 1/8 mile. :D

Here are some of the pictures from the day (yes, my bonnet had come up marginally at the driver side, this has since been sorted out :) ) :

Nice pics mate. Looks the nuts!

Cheers Westy!

It was a reasonably nice day today so I decided to give the engine bay a bit of a clean up:

I gave the exhaust a quick going over with a combination of Meguiars Metal Polish and Silvo wadding, it came up pretty well too:

Changed my wheel nuts to some Driftworks NeoChrome as the nuts from CCW started to corrode pretty badly! I was worried they were going to lack tacky and cheap, but I like them:

Looking nice and clean underneath still too:

Also, my Recaro SPG was suffering from pretty bad wear, so that has been temporarily sorted out until I get a re-cover kit:

I have some new chemicals coming in the next couple of days from AM Details (APC, Foam, Glaze & Seal) so I will get the paintwork sorted out over the weekend providing it stays dry! I'll get the interior cleaned up a bit too.

Looks nice, what's the line strip on your stock spoiler?

It's a gurney flap Jazz :)

Link doesn't work mate but it looks nice and shiny now :)

Out of interest, what time of air filter is on your car? Mine has the same but i'm not sure what kind it is or how it performs etc.

Link fixed

It's a GReddy filter. That particular one comes as part of the turbo kit :)

Still suffering some boost related issues. My boost is now going up to the correct value at least, but it is dropping off by quite a bit as the revs climb. I tweaked about with the boost controller gain a little (while reducing the % value so that it was sky rocketing) to see if it smoothed out but without spiking. Didn't really have much luck.

I'll order some coilpack clips and change those and the plugs and see how that works out. :)

Has the car ever been mapped in the UK? What boost are you running?

Your terminal speeds are very low, I doubt you are running much more than 400bhp, same terminal speeds as guys on stock twins.

Agree with Jamie, it doesn't seem correct for a 600hp+ car even with traction issues.

But I do love your car mate, almost exactly how I would have my own car if I have one again :D

Got a nice new snow foam lance so had a play with that filled with AM Details Foam! Then made use of some AM Details Glaze and Seal as well - such a nice finish using this stuff! :D Very impressed with their range of stuff for sure - definitely worth checking out :)

As there have been a couple of events over the past few weeks, I've been keeping on top of the cleanliness of the car quite a bit - it has been worth it as I can't stop looking at it :)

Banzai at Crail was first up, so Marc & I made sure that the cars were looking spot on for the journey down:

Thankfully it dried up a bit and I got a few runs in on the day:

Times were still poor at 12.9 @ 115. Not nearly good enough. Launches are still very bad though. I'm not putting in nearly enough revs. At least it was better than my first go I suppose! I suppose the consolation was that I was the fastest RWD car there that drove in and out as only 2 others (an MR2 turbo and the 33 GTST above) were stripped out, radial equipped, NOS assisted trailer beasts. That made me feel a little better as I drove him with the air con and stereo blasting  Radials for me next time though as I bought these

Next up was the Elgin Show & Shine. I knew I wouldn't be top of the class for this one as the wheels still need a bit of attention and some of the other cars I knew that were going are unreal. It was still worth the journey though as it was a stunning day (the sunburn I received says it all - I'm still peeling today!) :)

After giving the car a wash and another quick coat of wax, I moved it across the road to head out and almost got stuck on the very little bit of dropped pavement

There was then a 'loudest exhaust "competition"' which a bunch of cars took part in. I don't have a particularly loud exhaust, but someone suggested lighting up a little to make a bit more noise. The organiser didn't say no, so I may have participated a little :innocent:

Not guilty... :D

A photographer friend was up in Aberdeen yesterday to collect some wheels and get a few pictures of Marc's car (common occurrence :D ). He got some of mine at the same time. I've only seen the one so far but look forward to the rest
