Blitz Spec-R Boost Controller, Your Opinions??
Chris and Alana replied to TRD-Rob's topic in Supra Chat
I use one its fine. It's nice and small and has 4 pre sets, peak boost, real time boost and warning function which will try and reduce boost pressure if it reaches its pre set measure. As far as I know the solenoids can handle 2.5bar aswell. Should be upto the job of controlling most turbo charged vehicles. As for solenoid response I dont know how it compares to the more expensive units out there but it does use duel solenoids which from what I have read allows for quicker pulsing of the wastegate than a single solenoid unit. -
intermittent boost problem doing my head in

Well looks like it's fixed John (hodge) the kind fella let me come down to his place on sunday and try a replacement IACV vsv. Once fitted I took it for a run and it worked spot on. It then operated perfect on the 20-30min drive home and fine again today. Anyway, I'm over the moon and another boost issue sorted. Thanks again john -

Hi hodge, thanks for the offer I was just going to put it in TTC mode as temp solution to prevent any damage to the turbo's but still have the car useable. I do prefer the sequential set up and I do want the problem sorted and I am convinced it is the IACV vsv being itermittant. I spoke to another member on here who had an intermittant IACV vsv and he had the same intermittant boost problems as me so Im sure Im on the right track The TTC mod was only until I get a new vsv but I just wanted to know if any damage will be caused to the turbos or the engine running TTC for a couple a weeks to a month. I know the ECU cannot control the fuelling too well for TTC mode and I know one of the actuators rattle a little but will any unwanted damage be caused from incorrect fueling, rattling actuator and the different operation of the turbo's. The pressure tank will also be under alot more stress although if it is in good nick I think that should be ok. Thanks for the help and the reply's guy's

I seem to have a problem with my IACV vsv and as a result I beleive I could be overspeeding No.1 turbo when giving it the beens. Obviously now I know what the problem is I wont be driving hard in sequential mode. However, I tried TTC mode to help diagnose my fault and although I do prefere the way it is meant to work (sequential operation) I can still use the full potential of my supra in TTC mode as it by-passes the IACV vsv. Anyway, I was wondering if it does any harm to the car running in TTC mode (using the by-passing of the vsv method) using the stock ECU.

intermittent boost problem doing my head in
Chris and Alana replied to Chris and Alana's topic in mkiv Technical
I have already changed most of the vacuum lines (just not the ones I cant get to) but all new vsv's would be good I love the supra but at the same time it is such a b**ch when things go wrong. It doesnt even have to go wrong in a really bad way either. Infact if something would just brake it would be easier to trace and repair than something that decides it doesnt want to work now and again. -
As in the title really. I need an IASV vsv as I believe I have an intermittant fault with mine
-
What would happen in the IACV actuator on the sequential system was stuck open? Edit. - Also what would happen if it was stuck shut?

intermittent boost problem doing my head in
Chris and Alana replied to Chris and Alana's topic in mkiv Technical
Hi Hadyn, It cant be a difference in outside temps as it can work (produce 1.15bar) and not work (0.75bar) all in the same journey. Plus the power difference is quite norticable. I have also just tried TTC mode by by-passing the IACV vsv and the EBCV vsv. I took it for a drive and it worked fine (well for TTC mode anyway) First time I tried this mod and I kinda liked it, sounds much more gruntier lower down the rev range. Anyway, I floored it a couple of times and I got 1.1ish bar straight away every time. Obviously there was no boost until 3.5k but apart from that it all worked spot on. What have I just proved is working? Pressure tank, all vacume pipework, all Actuators and un-by-passed vsv's? Plus both turbo's If this mod proves my EGBV actuator is working then I think I may dare say it could be an intermittant fault with the IACV vsv, as I know the actuator works from TTC mode. Any tech minded people feel free to slap me if Im wrong (but also me) -

Thanks for the links Right the only vsv I had an irregular reading across when testing them was the IACV vsv. It read resistance in the mega ohms rather than 42 ohms or what ever it should be but it still opened with 12v across it. I can hear the change over of the turbos so Im guessing that the EGBV is openeing but sometimes the IACV actuator isnt openeing fully, not allowing No2 turbo to come fully online. Does that make sense? The only thing I hope it's not is the EGBV actuator as you cant get the bugger -
I have had this problem for a while but the supra hasn’t been driven much with the bad weather so I forgot about it. I took it up to Scotland on the weekend 180mile trip each way and on the way there it all seemed fine boosting 1.15bar but on the way back it would only make 0.75bar according to my EBC. It done this for about 100 miles. Every time I floored it would act the same. Now accelerating from 2.5k revs it gets approx 10psi boost and I can feel the change over at 3.5-4k revs as usual with a slightly louder exhaust note but the boost doesn’t change more than 10psi. I then thought I must have a boost leak but after approx 100miles all of a sudden I floor it and I then regain all my power 1.15bar. Once it started working again it never battered an eye lid and worked correctly all the way home. Like I said I have had this problem for a while just forgot about it and it does the same thing randomly. I checked the intercooler hosing and all seemed fine. I have checked the vsv's and all (3 of them) seem fine. (I don’t use the wastegate vsv as my EBC takes over the job). I put pressure down the actuators I can get to and they seem fine as well. What could cause this intermittent boost issue? It has me baffled and it is quite annoying. This all happens with the EBC off. I didn’t bother turning it on as there is no need in the colder weather.

I bought some yellow billstein shocks from nick not long ago as my black kyb shocks decided to leak-3 of them at the same time Anyway, the shocks that came from nick had billstein made in germany stamped into the metal near the bottom of each shock and then a stick on toyota label round the shock. Is there a difference between these and the ones your on about chris? And just to add a bit of info for the thread starter,in my opinion the yellow shocks are a little firmer than the black KYB's but seem to suit the car better, I have mine with the later model vvti springs as I read they are a little lower and firmer. they were also meant to be with these shocks from the factory I beleive.

I have a little bit of christmas money left and have decided that taking the second cat out might be fun So Im after a cheap as poss (so has to be second hand) 2nd decat pipe for my TT. Let me know what you have please. Thanks

Saw a red Supra with vailside front heading North on the A1, I was heading South in mine and gave you a flash (thats a flash of the headlights) on saturday the 6th dec at about 3pm ish. Approx 30 miles north of Newcastle. Anyone on here?
-
That looks very clean, especially after having done 95k miles. Good price too. Good luck with the sale bud.
-
I believe the do, the same way as a 2.5" inch second decat will fit to a 3" cat back exhaust. The flanges should be the same size which will allow tyem to bolt together but the diameter of the pipe will be larger on the second decat. (which doesnt matter)

Still for sale guy's -
I have a set of standard j-spec springs for sale taken off my 93 GZ. They are in v.good condition and have done 55k miles. I only had them taken off as I replaced them with a set of VVTi springs when I upgraded my shocks to bilsteins. Looking for £40+p&p I also have a non VVTi spark plug cover (the green one) in v.good condition. It is very clean with no scratches. The chrome wrighting has faded a little due to age but the rest is v.good. Looking for £30+p&p
