Many moons ago I played with a supercharger on the first mkiv I owned http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?123865-Supercharger-latest-pics&highlight=shane+eaton and I had similar vibration issues, mine was down to the throttle cable. Has yours been dressed differently to stock or is it coming into contact with something?

Thanks for posting that link, but after reading it I would say his reasons for being there are even more questionable. Surely you cannot honestly believe for a minute based on the information to hand that he was held there for so long and treated so badly if there wasn’t more to this? So he has been quoted as saying he was making a better future for his family, and then in that article you posted that he was there for humanitarian reasons. Which was it I wonder as they seem very different reasons to me and I would assume to his captors also for the last 13 years presuming he gave them the same two reasons. Let’s have a look at both of those scenarios. At that time family life was not good, the Taliban had a grip on the country and allied bombing/military action was about to start if it hadn’t already, depending on when he was captured. There were thousands of people trying to get out of the place, thus the UNHCR refugee camp set up close to the Chaman border that afghans were desperate to get into despite it being a horrible place. Yet this guy who had left the relative safety it seems of the UK thought it would be a great place to make a better future for his family. I can only imagine what sort of future that was. Maybe he now has a ticket to Raqqa and follow the same dream. So humanitarian works, the Taliban in the early 90s did allow certain NGOs access to the country to operate albeit under tough rules and they approved and appointed staff, mainly their own to each organisation this meant you had their “Security advisors”, Logisticians, drivers etc. Any non-Islamic westerners allowed in had to abide to their rules in terms of appearance, beard length and dress and this was enforced. By 2000 just about all NGOs had got out, either booted out by the Taliban or pulled out for security reasons, and we are not talking about some church group filling a transit van and sending a load of knitted scarves and coats out in a transit funded by coffee mornings, we are talking UNHCR, WFP, CARE, UNICEF, Oxfam, Tearfund and a few other DEC member NGOs. Any foreigner would have had a tough time trying to do his own thing there, as a foreigner with connections in the west he would have stuck out and been treated as a western spy by the Taliban and dealt with immediately and without too many questions or investigation into his story, so I can’t imagine for a split second he was some naive aid worker who had found himself there carrying out good deeds in the name of Islam, Jesus or Santa. If he was in fact an employee from one of the NGOs operating in the country, don’t you think after 13 years they may have said something and come to this blokes aid? The only foreign operatives allowed to stay in Afghanistan at that time would have been affiliates to the Taliban or Al Qaeda and given the period of time he was held, it would appear his captors knew this. I guess we will never know for sure, but now he has his freedom, let’s hope he clears off back there and this time takes his family with him. Or maybe he will tell the world why he was there and how he has now seen the error of his ways thus assisting for battle against extremism and what goes hand in hand with it. But, I suspect the prospect of a fat pay out, lots of publicity and the use of human rights act to fall back on will mean he will proclaim his innocence forever.

No Chris, it's on my ever increasing list of things to do. However, over a period of time since its been in its place of rest various members have had bits from it and its getting smaller. I am hoping that if I hold out long enough someone will come along and pull the head off for me, the wife often comments how ornate it looks dumped right by the back gate. You can see where the coolant had been seeping out of the gasket and down the block from this.

Yet he was in Afghanistan in 2001 and the only reference in that article you chose to post as to why he was there was "He has said he was in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan in 2001 to make a better life for his family." Speaking as someone who spent time in Kandahar, NWFP, Kuchlak and Quetta during 2001, and seeing he was from Saudi, I find it incredibly hard to stomach that his stay there was for family reasons unless he is referring to his extended family, normally referred to as brotherhood. At least he has spoken out it appears against extremism but I am sure the desire to be released and re-united with his family had no bearing on this. Yes he has been treated in an appalling way and for too long, but I am sure there is more to this than the BBC news or any other news agency reports. Are there any news reports that explain in a bit more detail why he would have left his wife and family here and travel to the region at that time? Maybe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time eh.

Your car has all the same symptoms as the wife's na did earlier in the year. I trained her to check the water level daily and in desperation to keep it going a bit longer until the weather improved I poured a bottle of that luminous yellow "head gasket repair" stuff in. To my amazement it was fine for about another 2 months and didn't use a drop of coolant, cured the white smoke, no mayo, heater started to work again it was great.... Until one morning following a long drive the day before she went to start it and the timing belt stripped all its teeth because the inlet cam had seized solid or so i thought. After pulling the top end apart I discovered one of the valves had locked up and wouldn't open until I gave it a wack. I suspect the crap I put in as a short term fix although worked got into the valve seat and then did what it was meant to and formed a steel like seal. Anyhow I had a stripped na engine here that had stood for 4 years exposed to the elements, swapped all the parts over spent a long weekend getting it in and its been great since, that was Easter. I noticed though that the dead engine that lays in my garden now has water marks running down the block on the jnlet side of the block coming from.the gasket. So I guess the moral of the story is, don't leave it too long and don't be tempted to use the head gasket repair medicine unless you are prepared for the consequences. After the experience with her NA my money is on the head gasket with yours I am afraid. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=199471&d=1428055057

I use a Minix android box loaded with Kodi at my house in Romania for watching UK TV, now bear in mind I work in the satellite coms industry and have access to pretty much as much gear as I want, this is still my preferred route. At present I don't even have an wired internet connection there, I rely on a 3g mobile wifi apator, well its a 4g one but in my town there I see only 3g at present and its still brilliant. There are Vulkano and Sling apps for Android too so have various streams running in head ends here for work that I can also log onto. Brilliant bits of kit. There's another good variation on this called red 360 http://www.red360.tv/ these are great too and based on android nicely pre-configured, but cost more. However the quality of live feeds is great on these and for work we use these quite a bit to source various Arabic channels I need to stream for our in house cable systems where we cant have 2 & 3 metre dishes.for Nilesat reception. Great cost effective solution for an alternative source of entertainment, although there are limitations in terms of resilience and quality of live feeds.

This maybe the model that the fuel pump when tired starts to produce tiny iron filings and then a) struggles to produce enough fuel pressure from cold meaning that the pressure sensor never sees enough pressure to tell the ecu to start firing and b) gradually fills the fuel system up with iron filings, killing the injectors in the longer term. Would be interested to know if it starts straight away with a sniff of easy start from cold, what this does is get the engine speed up to a point where the pump produces enough pressure for the sensor to send the correct signal to the ecu. They recommend that you slit the bottom of the fuel filter with a sharp knife and empty the contents into a clear container and hold it up to the light looking for iron filings. Delphi fuel injection systems on some Renaults and Kias also suffer this but I know a colleague of mine at work had a ford that had the same problem and he discovered it was very common with that engine.

That's really good, do they insure modified cars?

My missus was a nightmare with laptops, tried two new budget price ones from Ebuyer and they never lasted much more than a year or two and always had one problem or another during that time. 2 years ago I took a gamble on a HP Chromebook that I saw on offer and its been brilliant. Like you Jake she uses it pretty much for the web, a bit of work stuff (exel, word), and photos. Its been faultless, battery life is great, it's stayed virus, popup, adware free, opens just about everything you throw at it, lots of aps and for us a real plus point is that it has a full size HDMI socket built in. Boots up and ready for use in seconds too, all for less than £200. I know serious PC users don't like Chrome and obviously it's pretty reliant on a internet connection for a lot of stuff, but nowadays that's not an issue anyhow. Most people can create a wifi hotspot from their phones if needed. I cant think of anything she had running on previous windows machines that she cant use on the chromebook to be honest. I guess its not going to suit people with loads of windows os based programs but for most application it seems to be fine, and has lasted too.

for sale For swaps: Modified Subaru Impreza sport seats!! MKIV supra
Shane replied to thedice917's topic in Parts for Sale
It's the fact they have been mounted on frames to fit a Supra that makes them worth the asking price. Have you ever tried to do this or looked at the price of aftermarket frames? GLWS. Very comfy, strong seats. -
You are all wrong anyhow. All this situation is down to climate change. http://news.sky.com/story/1592373/charles-syrias-war-linked-to-climate-change

http://news.sky.com/story/1592373/charles-syrias-war-linked-to-climate-change I have always felt he was a plonker but this is great. Yes we know that climate change/drout etc can affect migration, of course it can but to suggest it has played a part in the Syrian situation is just plain nuts imo. He needs to stick to opening subways and church fetes and keep nonsense like this to himself.

Cool, I spent a while in Braila (Danube delta) some years ago and there are some nice parts there. I first went for work reasons in the very early 90s shortly after Ceaucescu went and worked all over the country for the next 10 years, but made so many friends there and fell in love with the place that I have always gone back. So much so, we have a house there now too I spent a looong time working in and around Mehedinti county working out of Drobeta Turnu Severin and made a real connection with that area. The area around the iron gates dam is stunning and you can cross into an equally stunning part of Serbia by crossing the Danube on the road built on top of the dam. I spent a lot of time in Kosova, Serbia, Albania and Romania during the late 80s and 90s but nowhere else came close to Romania for me.
-
It is a beautiful area, in fact as is much of the country. The area around the Danube in Caras Severin and Mehedinti where Romania borders with Serbia is absolutely stunning and my favourite. Sibiu is pretty incredible too.

Buna ziua Rares, si bine venit! Eu am acasa in Plugova, Jud CS si cunosc bine tara dumnevoastra. Fost in Brasov mult timpul.

I spent much of the 90s in the Balkans and can tell you this is just as much as a powder keg now as it has always been. Kosovans for example sing and teach their kids the song of Kosovo like it has just been written, it was written after the battle of Kosovo in 1389. Peace/stability in the region just teeters on the edge.
