Hello to everyone on here, I recently traded my old MK3 for a Mk4 Jap spec and thought it was time to become a member. I have really enjoyed reading up on my new toy benefiting from all you guys and your experience with the Mk4. Only had the car a couple of weeks and already fixed a couple of niggly probs from the info gleaned on here.
OK, my questin is, and please forgive me for re-hashing the same old question, is what type of transmision fluid should I use. I have no idea what my 94 N/A has in at present and I intend to get if flushed and have the filters replaced ASAP. I called a local gearbox centre and they quoted me about £90 for flush, fluid replacement and new filters. I asked them what type of fluid they would use and they said Dextron. I said that I would prefer to use the reccomended type and they have said no prob so long as I supply it. But in reading previous posts it seems that there Totota type 4 is not always used in the transmissions fitted to NA's. Also is the use of dextron definitley the wrong thing to do? Thanks in advance.
