It's a mates truck and yes its mint condition and no i don't want one :D

Stuffing the wiring back in should be fun  it will be done with far more care than the

person or persons that fitted it at LR, we shall use proper cable wrap for starters and not

masking tape.

Hopefully by the end of next week we'll have a rolling chassis :wooohoo:

making great progress! Shame about the additional rust and budget..... what budget, we dont need no sticking budget!!

Fancy doing some work on my spare escort? Looks like you enjoy this sort of thing!

Yes what budget lol

I'm not doing that much on this to be honest, the major fab work i'm letting Lloyd do, i just

do lots of crappy stuff and point at what to attack next :D and hand over wads of cash

Today cost me £420 in vat to strip & galvanize the chassis plus £100 to take it to Howells

and collect it when its finished, plus Lloyds wages

Happy days mate, it's definitely not a project I would been keen to take it looks a right Pita but it's coming along very well!

Cheers Kaan, it's actually in quite decent condition compared to a lot of them, there was an MSB coloured one in

for some bits and bobs last week and the back end from behind the front seats is pretty much scrap !!

Thanks Andrew, it's coming along nicely and once the scuttle is sorted i think

we're pretty much done welding wise, fingers crossed.

Really looking forward to getting the chassis back tomorrow and cracking on

with that.

How have you got on with the woodland you were looking to buy ?

Very impressive, I know your going for an OEM look but I do like it looking all shiney :D

Would look wrong on a Classic leaving it as it is. Hopefully once we've scuffed the

chassis up the body Shutz will stick to it nicely, it seems to stick to just about

everything else :D

Be different, leave it shiny! :) Let's face it, there's not much original about it anyway, you've replaced most of it ;)

Are there many tapped holes in the chassis itself? They can be a bit of pain to clean through, depending on long they dipped it for. Has it taken properly within the box sections? At least it should not rust any more now!

The boss at the galvanizers agreed with me it should never have left in the state its in, it

should be fine after a second dip in the acid to strip it then back in the galv tank

A few photos of the contamination, fingers crossed for the second dip

But it's costing me another £100 in transportation :(

At least their having it back no arguments, shit happens just a shame

the guy doing it didn't say anything to his boss and i'd have saved £100 !!

Sorry, I replied before you had the photos visible. From past experience those missed areas are caused by oil and grease contamination not getting removed. Even the acid bath has trouble getting through grease. A literal *STEAM* clean would have helped before they dipped it in the acid baths. A second run through should hopefully sort it, good luck.

No problem Chris, it got steam cleaned by us before it left the workshop.

I've read that double dipping is required to get a clean finish on an old chassis, the

first blows out any rust etc in the seams which is what i have now, a second acid dip

removes all the zinc and corrosion blown out the joints etc so when it goes back in the zinc

it should be much better, fingers crossed
