Supra V8 2uz project

I'm posting to try and revive this project and get it finished. Its been idle for over a year now, as some of the early followers will know, and this is due to various reasons. Anyway, what I'm attempting to do now is enlist the help of a pro garage willing to take the project onto completion. Any pm's from said garages are very, very welcome, and I'll go into the main issues to be resolved now.

1. Fitting of CW modified supra clutch into 6 speed 'box. Gearbox needs splitting from engine and there are a few access issues to the 2 top housing bolts, may need engine removal. Adapter plate from V8 to 'box may need re making to solve future access issues when replacing clutch.

2. Removal of custom master cylinder/hoses. Fitting of standard master cylinder and hoses/pipework.

3. Power steering needs attention as is not working. Not sure why, not looked into this in any detail.

4. Aircon to be hooked up. Need to purchase the 2UZ pipes in order to get the mounting flanges for the pump. Had no luck with breakers so far.

5. Engine oil check light sensor to be fitted into block as it didn't come with one (). Associated electrics to be wired up.

6. Lambda electrics to be removed and a different solution to be sought, as I don't like the current setup.

7. Fog light wiring from rear light conversion to be extended into cockpit and standard supra switch. Fog light indication to be wired up.

8. Stereo system to be refitted (although I may get a specialist shop to do this if needed).

9. Final check of my rear drivetrain work to ensure I've not balls'ed anything up! Car needs suspension setup too as everything on rear is new (again, may be done at specialist).

So there you have it. Not a huge list of main jobs, but ones that I have been grappling with and no longer have time to put right. It would be great if this car can be sorted as I think it has potential to be a lot of fun.

By the way, I'm in Reading but will trailer the car to the right place. Fingers crossed.....

Have you not finished this yet Ed :D

I should be back on the case soon health wise so if you need a hand with the electrics and final mapping I should be able to help you.

I might be able to help you with a contact for getting all the other work done too. The suspension guy is ex pro drive and used to set up the p-pack conversions ( Pete Cambridge is his name if you want to look him up) and what he doesn't know about setting a car up really isn't worth knowing.

I've got a Supra now don't you know :D

Hello mate, good to speak. As I say its been idle for ages since Roger or whatever his name was let me down. Glad to hear your health is getting better.

Anyone who is able to do all the above jobs is what I'm after. Ideally, I drop it off and collect it working and drivable.

I'll e-mail you a few numbers and you can see if the people fit the bill.

I'm determined, probably to my detriment, to finish and drive it. Take it to at least one supra meet too, with everything working as it should and all polished up nicely. That will be a real sense of achievement for me, even if I've had more help from people than I initially wanted.

Well done that man. Everyone should have a goal in life - good luck. ;)

There's nothing wrong with getting a bit of help. Kudos for seeing through such a huge project

I have something interesting to post, well to me at least.

My clutch woes may well be over as I had a call today saying all the "standard" bits are fitted, bled and working as they should. Yippee!

I can't tell you how happy that call made me today, but :D comes close.

Hello Ed, I am really happy to hear of your stride forward. We have almost the same exact setup (time and all ;), with the

excpetion of SC400 vs Supra. I was hoping you could share some insight on the clutch system as it stands in detail.

We are reluctant to go with a button up flex plate and clutch system, as is done in the past. We really need the mass

of a flywheel, and stock supra clutch assembly. Please please please help, as we are blue in the face with this one!

Cheers,

Nick from Toronto.

Sorry for late reply Nick, had lots on recently with flat renovations and internet has been down. Anyway, I'm off on hols soon but will get some detailed info together for you on my return. As for what I've used to get it working, most of the info is in the thread (somewhere?), so you should be able to find what you're looking for. I have details of the guy who made the flywheel too, so you can always give him a bell if you want one similar.

As for my car situation, some good news and bad. Its now running and driving as it should, massive YEAH! Unfortunately, I had an email today saying that work is now ceasing due to the company going bust. This is due to a major customer of theirs going into receivership before settling debts. A real shame as Trevor is a lovely guy who's imported, modified and worked on some great mustangs, both old and new.

Anyway, I should be able to get it on the road now as the fogs are wired in. Won't be able to collect it until I return from hols, but will update asap.

Update.

I drove the car back from the garage on sat. I must say that I'm very impressed with how the engine pulls, in any gear. Lots of torque and she is really responsive. Clutch is totally sorted and operating like a standard car. Box is great, as you would expect being brand new. A slight 'touring car' whine from the drivetrain, which I quite like.

However, still a few things to sort.

Speedo is not working.

Oil level sensor still to fit.

Power steering is working but making a lot of noise, as if you're dragging a heavy table across a wooden floor is how I would describe it.

Air vents pumping out very hot air, no dash controls working.

Some interior trimming issues to fix.

Still, all in all, very pleased mainly with the engine and clutch.
