I’ve decided to sell my MK2 Toyota Aristo Vertex VVTi twin turbo! For those that don’t know the car at all it is a Japanese import equivalent to the Lexus GS model. However unlike supra’s the Aristo Vertex actually came as a higher spec model in Japan than the UK model GS did. It’s fitted with the familiar 2JZ-GTE and has exactly the same performance upgrade-ability as the lump in a supra so the power is available as deep as your wallet goes. Details, Details! Well it’s a 1997 R plate car in silver. It has 102,000 miles on the ODO but it looks from the history that at least 25,000 of them were in Kilometres, still its low miles for a 14 year old car at approx 91,000 miles. The car has the usual stuff you’d expect from Lexus ie • Full black leather interior with 5 seats suitable for seating 4 large adults and a smaller person, and all have 3 point belts. The rear seat armrest also doubles up as a child’s booster seat • Heated and electric front seats • Folding and heated mirrors (supra eat your heart out lol) • Premium glove box mounted CD auto-changer sound system operated from a touch screen that can also be used as a TV and DVD feed • Electric windows front and rear isolatable from the drivers panel • Retracting steering wheel • Cup holders front and rear • Jacket/coat hanger on rear grab handles • Remote central locking now activated by a thatcham class 1 alarm system • Manufacturers matching front and rear high spec mats • Metallic paint • Colossal storage in the boot • Steering wheel mounted controls, seamless tip-tronic auto transmission • Climate control, again operated from the touch screen, and still cold enough to keep an ice-cream frozen in the desert • A traction control system to rival race logic with active rear wheel steering assistance when it all gets a bit out of shape (this system doesn’t give you that heart stopping utter power kill the stock supra system does) Extra’s/Modifications • Jasma stainless steel cat back exhaust system • TRD front strut brace and under body front chassis brace • Tein comfort sport coilovers fitted in 2008 (receipt present) • TOM’s ecu that properly removes the top speed limit which is notoriously difficult on auto VVTI’s • BRC multi-point injection LPG system with electronic flashlube valve protection system and 70 litre toroidal wheel well tank. It uses the same quantity of gas as it would if it was on petrol. At an average of 78 pence a litre where super is £1.42 you don’t have to be a master mathematician to figure out how much money this saves! • Endless CCR front pads with Mintex rears • TRD washable panel air filter kit • Aristo branded carbon fibre window and rear number plate garnishes • Proper UK spec speedo fitted to convert it from KMPH History The car appears to have come into the UK from Japan in 2000. It has what appears to be a full Toyota service history in Japan up to 25k km. There are MOT’s from then to now but sporadic and some receipts from then to now. The cars had money spent on it. The coilovers were fitted in response to what appears to have been a shock absorber failure if the recovery receipt followed by the coilover receipt adds up to 4. The car had a brand spanking new ABS pump unit fitted (no receipt but you could see its spanking) which retails at over £1700 minus labour and is a known 10-12 year fault with the car. Personally I’ve had all of the oils including the diff, and auto-box oil changed, the cam-belt and tensioners, and spark plugs replaced, I’ve stuck a new Yuasa 005 calcium battery in, and the endless CCR front pads with Mintex rear pads that so far seem to improve the braking performance to around UK spec braking under a ton twenty five (I’ve not taken the car beyond that for a very long time)

Any experiences in buying/selling property from friends or family
dangerous brain replied to Wez's topic in Off Topic
I sold my flat to my now late step-father. He did indeed move in with myself and my ex wife and lived rent free until the purchase of our house finalised which in the end took 5 months. Despite me being offered over £10k more for it than he paid he insisted I had ripped him off. In fact relations got so bad because of it that we ended up not speaking for the last year of his life and found out from the police that he had died in the flat. He left no will so the brother that hated him his whole life and ostracised him from the family took the flat, its contents, and his very bulging bank account. -
I'll add my tuppence to the PITA of claiming the money back. Life is so hectic that its very easy to forget some 6 months down the road. if you aren't 100% organised you'll miss out on a payment and I think if you miss one then thats it you don't get the others after it.

Problem with Japanese done singles is generally their wiring. Not 1 of the cars I've had in from Japan even ones that came in through Jurgen have had "perfect" wiring. Most if not all of the problems I experienced with the Do-Luck aristo were down to shonky wiring done in Japan. I have a 3ft deep box full of wiring thats been ripped out of my imported motors that was surplus to requirements. When they remove their ICE or extra expensive gadgets prior to auctioning they can be a bit slasher about it. Choosing the right fuelling solution and control is tantamount to whether or not you have a good experience or if it all goes expensively very wrong! There is obviously an element of luck involved as well, some peoples engines go on forever and others hang up their boots and die on them, but the same can be said for stock or BPU motors. My biggest worry when I owned a T67DBB was getting caught doing stupid speeds because it was too damned easy to do and far too addictive to restrain myself all the time. Would I do it again? Yes but smaller than a T67 I think.

I really kind of like that. 0 marks out of 10 for speeeling though

Wow some people on here are precious! As long as the correct type of fluid is used there won't be an issue. All you need to know is the spec of toyota for life and buy a coolant with the same spec!! Have a read of this article its quite enlightening http://www.search-autoparts.com/searchautoparts/data/articlestandard//motorage/162005/156227/article.pdf Long and short you can use another coolant and it won't be disastrous you may need to change it more but I think with cars the ages of ours do we really need to worry about what happens in 10 or 20 years time when our rubber hoses and and radiators certainly won't last that long before our coolants are deposited on the road!

in a bit of a car dilemma, what to sell/keep?
dangerous brain replied to pistol pete's topic in Off Topic
Hmm your combined vehicle worth doesn't add up to a huge amount, not enough to start selling a fleet and buying a whole other fleet by the time you've had your soul drained by tyre kicking stupid question asking muppets for sure! You could consider shifting the golf and buying a cheapy diesel runner like a rover 200 sdi that is quite nippy and will leave you with change from £500 NA supe? Is it really all that boat floating? Wouldn't be for me that's for sure and I temporarily owned a manual one. Maybe flog the supra and stick LPG on the golf? -
It may also fit onto a docking station that has a serial port as my X32 does exactly that. Timeless piece of kit that I can't justify changing some 2 years after I bought it second hand.

The definitive battery thread
dangerous brain replied to Ian C's topic in Technical Reference & FAQs
Halfords are so overpriced on batteries. Optima yellow top as cool as it looks I'll never need a £200 battery really and they are a PITA to charge with any reasonable priced charger. FWIW I have a huge yellow top on my offroader but it means I have to run the engine for a couple of hours a week or buy a gel battery charger! Also FWIW the Optima red top is a better battery for most supra owners. So now we have gotten into I can't afford an Optima what are my other options? -

Well I finally got these fitted (its a shame ebayers cant take a leaf from forum dudes book) I was waiting for the rear mintexpads to turn up before I fitted them. All I can say is awesome!!!! I was sceptical when they arrived as I thought they looked like stock pads painted blue but hat off they are considerably far from stock. Even from cold they bite well and boy do they haul down some ass when you ask them to. Cheers for an easy and straight forwards transaction fella.
-
If its the one in the picture then it looks very much like the supra specific one.
-
Sorry dude. Its usual to declare you want something in the thread and offer to pay immediately. Prevents any misunderstanding and keeps dealings ope and honest.
-
Dude I'll have them how do you want paying then?

for sale UK cream front seats in need of TLC
dangerous brain replied to caseys's topic in Parts for Sale
Ray get in touch and we'll see what we can do. The drivers seat is actually quite damaged (Dude how would you go about replacing the bolster piece?) and if its not financially viable to repair it then the whole seats will be yours anyways. I also didn't know the seats didn't separate from the rails. -
Replacement J-spec callipers £64 on brakeparts international mate.

You still got these fella?

I'm not sure if he can use them without the rails as he needs to bolt them down somehow, however I know he wants to change the cloth seats in his landrover for leathers so he may well take the seat without rails and then look for a set of rails later. email me on if you need to crack on with it as I don't come on here very often
