Dude chill the f*ck out!! You don't go on any forum as a noob and expect to get sensible answers straight away regardless of car type!! If your box is displaying issues you've 2 options. Get it taken out and refurbed (I'd guess its gonna be close to £600-800 to do that) or call Keron and I bet he's got one for £200 and delivery or someone on here has. Play a heart felt plea on here and maybe someone will help you fit it. We are nice guys here. I've been around for years now and yes I'm a prick with an attitude but I know where the heart generally lies and here it will help those that are humble. Creep a bit it will help LOL.

Oh and just to state my lineage I went from an aerotop NA I chose over a hardtop TT to a TT BPU+ aerotop TT when I got bored of the NA to several different TT aristo's to help with the sprogs to a single turbo monster aristo to help with my power lust back to a TT aristo as the single spent more time off the road than on it In the mean time I went through another auto NA and manual NA supra that I can honestly say bored the crap out of me. If you really want to feel like an outcast on this forum try buying an aristo (which incidentally had the 2JZ-GTE engine in it a year before the supra did, and the VVTi lump again a year before) and ask an engine tech question!!
-
OK so now I can completely see why you are finding us abrasive! If you don't like the response to a question because its the truth then if you have a crocked gearbox and someone tells you its crocked then thats the answer. We could make a fluffy little suit and tell you "there there young man it'll be fine" when we know it isn't. maybe you'd prefer that approach? If the box is f*cked then its f*cked. Now start counting your NA lucky stars. The W58 has to be about the cheapest second hand toyota box going. Stick up a wanted ad and you'll have one for alot less than a refurb will cost you. As for the steering rack that will be a tough sh*t piece of kit that wants replacing if its knackered and can happen on any car. FWIW my aristo's rear steering rack is shot to sh*t and costs £2k just for the parts!! Get over the fact that your car is costing you money and remove your negative emotion from your posts requesting help and you will actually get some help here.
-
OK now I can see why you feel that everyone is slagging you off!! FACT the NA's gearbox is virtually bullet proof in an NA I'd be especially surprised to see one go in a 97 plate which is why TT auto owners are interested in sticking them in their cars. You'll find that jumped up attitudes gets sh*t thrown at you. Ask a nice question you'll get a nice answer. Look for digs in any post and you'll find it. Lets start from fresh. I'm sorry for poking your open wound. Try being a bit less sensitive and you'll find a wealth of expertise that you can use to achieve your aims.
-
A 97 plate requiring a replacement box and steering rack?? N/A or TT aside sounds like you bought a great motor!!! If your tech questions have been about gearboxes and steering racks I would be highly surprised if you were proper slagged off about the parts being for an NA not a TT. After all alot of auto TT owners actually ask if the NAs manual box is any good for a TT
-
They could right up until it was pointed out to them that their car spent more time in the garage getting tweaked, bits that broke replaced, or inside because it's too powerful for the inclement weather
-
Well you are looking in the wrong place at the wrong year cars then. If you shop around you can pick up at least 2 decent TT's on this forum that have been for sale for a while for £4-5k. You can pay similar cash for a decent NA as well. The tosh that people spout that TT's are £3k more than N/A's is exactly that TOSH!. If you are expecting a minter BPU TT a couple of years newer than a higher mile N/A then yeah you are going to have to dig a bit deeper. Also in tech you'll find most of the looking down the nose attitude stems from the age old question "how do I get more power from my N/A?". Its a question asked monthly and the answer will never change BUY A TT!! Ask a technical question in respect to any other problem and the TT systems are close enough that you will get helped on the issue the same as if the question was asked by a TT owner.
-
N/A's are pants and slow and to be honest there is now next to no difference in price between the two. TT all the way. If this wasn't the case then why do so many N/A owners want to swap in TT engines and constantly dream of having TT power?

bdHQ2ppLGHs?version=3 Thats my mates 90 on standard suspension and standard military fit tyres. The wagon at the end is my disco. XkR1BFq-euw&feature=related

If its going to be a daily driver then trust me on this do not mess with huge tyres and lift kits. It will be dreadful to drive any distance on a daily basis. I have an offroader disco and it is awesome OFFROAD. Its a c*nt on the road though. You think a supra on big rims and low profiles tramlines and bounce you around a road try doing 50 mph in a lifted huge tyre offroader. Save your money and just get some BF goodriidge all terrain tryes. They will take all but the most aggressive offroading in their stride and on road are fantastic tyres. Towing is also a right tw*t with a lifted car as more often than not you need to get a plate to drop the towing ball down to a useable height and the ride is even worse when towing.

Given up on the aristo now then chap?

Yup lexus ones lol -
I just texted a mate thats already got a 924 he is thinking of doing a big engine swap on. This would save him the bother.
-
Ah I think I understand what it does now. How long does 2 ltrs of fuel last then on a 600 bhp motor at WOT? A build thread on here would be very good, might raise the profile of the supra's older more sensible brother
-
See how long that lip spoiler lasts lol. Mine lasted about 35 minutes until I parked it over a kerb and kersmash!!! What exactly was the tag sticker all about?

If you are going to go to that trouble what about gas mate? LPG is its own self contained system with its own injectors and control etc. Two massive great vapourisers would provide enough fuel. LPG is already like 102 RON and is a very cold fuel. You run the car daily on gas and when you want a sh*t load of oomph the gas kit cuts out automatically and whacks in your race gas. Just a thought.
-
If you get it for £2500-3000 it should be a good buy. The pipework looks done well. I'd want to see some receipts for the injectors and hope its got some sort of piggy back unit with it.

Furnish me with the £250 I paid for them and they are yours mate. I can then stick that money in with the money I'll get for the rims I just took off and buy something in 19" -
im gutted it looks like my latest purchase needs a rebuild

You know what mate I'd do the right thing here and get the car on a trailor and send it somewhere like AFR and get it properly looked at. The initial expense could well save you sh*t loads in half guess's and uninformed opinions etc. You need it looking at by experts, long term that will save you money. If you are going to tear it down an expert will be able to verify the condition of parts and take out the big bits for you. -

How many of us taking car off road for winter?
dangerous brain replied to Lude's topic in Supra Chat
My winter wheels 18"s x 8" with brand new hankook icebears went on acouple of days ago and I can honestly say its made a world of difference. All the roads my way are constantly wet and muddy. I was having major trouble stopping the car as the ABS kept cutting in all the time. Now I've lost a bit of dry back end power grip but I can drive with confidence on all the slippery surfaces I've come across so far. -

AH where did you get them refurbed and how much was it per rim? I have had a set for nearly 2 years needing a major repair and refurb and as they are mag alloy don't know where to get them done.
