  1. Er yes! More appropriately the map within the ECU sets the rev limiter and it should come in irrespective of gearbox selection mode. I'd be very surprised by a supra going to 8k RPM without head and valvework. I certainly wouldn't want to try it more than once that's for sure.
  2. Adventurous price for sure. If you've only just painted it the only way to see your value for money back is to keep it.
  3. Nope the rev limiter should cut in. Is your rev meter actually accurate?
  4. I've not seen that around. I live about ten miles from there. Nice looking supe like that obviously only goes out at weekends lol
  5. Thats kind of what I was getting at. The amount of times I've taken a small mobile target with me and shot all my air supply out to be presented with a perfect rabbit shot only to be out of gas, you don't get that with a springer lol.
  6. Ah but are the American cars actually 1000bhp? Its a throw away figure that is used alot but 1000bhp is alot, its a hell of alot of power. Its not amateur money power that's for sure. The revs you gotta run to extract that power from a turbo that big means you really need to know 100% that your engine will hold together at the top and at the bottom otherwise you stand to make one run and 9 seconds and go bang which is not the intended use for this car I believe. Its OK for the tuners of this world to run cars like that because its what they do and they have the backing to replace whole engines overnight (how many engines did you go through John?). Anyhows my question was really how comes you don't go for a smaller turbo that you know can still get you into the 9's with a well setup car because like I said previously you've proven you can set a car up to do good times on less power than most?
  7. In all reality how many revs do you have to get to before a tubby that monstrous finds its legs?? Also what sort of clutch and hence left leg do you need to coax the proven agricultural 6 speeder through-- what?? 3 gear changes for a 9 second run?? Now its been proven that someone in Jessies life knows how to get power on the floor as her stock tubby motor proves so why is another 500bhp required to get down to 9.something? Would a smaller faster spooling tubby not get into the 9's with an excellent drag suspension setup the likes of your current motor? Is a thousand horse power more a bragging right than a true requirement? I suppose with another gorgeous white supra at home you don't actually really need to go get the shopping in the beasty one so living daily with a getaway in Stockholm version is not that big an issue To be honest with you and call me an asshole if you like I would now be looking intently at what valves, springs, and inlet manifold/throttle body you are going to put on now if you are balking at the cost of a set of studs! That is of course after you fit the fuelling solution required for a thousand horses. I'm afraid on this one you'll just have to call me Thomas
  8. It's actually a very nice colour in the flesh. Its got a lot more blue and not as "pink" as it looks in those pictures show. Mandy's a nice lass but did get quite a bit of stick funnily enough not for the colour but the bonnet cut outs. I'm guessing that is why she stopped posting here as the car is her P&J and they spent alot of time and money on it. On an observant note that strut brace is on upside my dear (unless its like that to clear the bonnet vents)?
  9. You could be pumping for ever with a stirrup pump but at least you can lug it around easier than a dirty great gas bottle. If you intend on going to shooting clubs or not going far from a vehicle then a bottle should be OK
  10. Yes I know what you mean. What I was getting at is that a cheapy springer like the Gamo I had was and is surprisingly good, so something like a high quality Weihrauch springer is not to be scoffed at just because it isn't a PCP is all I meant.
  11. There is quite a choice of rifles for sale over on the airgun BBS mate. Also look on guntrader
  12. I can recommend a weihrauch HW100. My best mate has one and although it's not as accurate as my Steyr (nothing really is lol) it's about the best on the market in its price range. With air rifles it really does depend on what you want to spend so letting people know the budget would help chap. I spent in excess of a grand on mine but the first one I had a Gamo springer was as effective as the PCP I now have and half the ball ache of having to constantly charge it so I wouldn't instantly dismiss a high quality springer.
  13. I've already tested "does it drop down in manu mode if you select too low a gear for the revs". The answer is no it doesn't it remains in a safe gear until its safe to change. I've done it in both an N/A and a TT and an aristo. Yes the back wheels lock a little bit as they are going marginally slower than the cars rolling speed when it goes in gear. I have "pre-selected" the lower gear as I've headed into a corner on tracks which leaves both my hands free on the steering wheel and one less thing to worry about as I approach a corner. On the way up the rev range it will stay in gear and bounce off the rev limiter all day long until you change up. If you leave it in D in manu it will use the lower gears but will change as soon as it can into the higher gear. In manu mode it will not change down unless the revs get to a point the engine will cut out. Strangely my TT used to pull strong in L from standstill and then halfway through second would pull stronger if I switched it back to auto
  14. Next to toyota's only other product in this size range the IS estate its positively lovely to look at. Honestly though what else will you get for the money you are selling this for that will look as nice, go as well, and still fit as much stuff inside it? Only downside I would see is a lack of insurers to cover it.
  15. Thing is if you can afford a bit of kit like that then I seriously doubt you will have any lack of real estate to park stacks of vehicles on!!
  16. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270925492495?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648
  17. I've been on the hunt for another car since selling the mazda mx3 I had as a tide me over after the aristo went. I'd been umming and ahhing over lots of motors. I didn't want another aristo as the reason I sold my last one was the roads around my way just didn't suit the car at all. I'd stuck my mini-monster truck offroader back on the road thinking the lanes would be ideally suited to it but oncoming traffic and horrendous slowness have made me realise its just not a daily commute hack!! So yesterday I spot a not too tatty MK4 NA auto just down the road for a grand. I phoned them today and I was on the button for bidding on it when I remembered a golf, MR sensible head had seen a couple of days ago. The golf was up 20 minutes before the supra. I was convinced that the golf would not go for the next bid price of £1220 and that the supra would go for £1000 no bid. So I bid on the golf and won it and the supra had a surge to £1350. I wasn't prepared to go to £1350 for a laid up in a field supra anyways so I guess it worked out right in the end But for 1 day I really was all prepped and ready to be a supra owning member of the community again.
  18. I bought my son a Breitling colt for his first birthday so he would have something significant on his 18th
  19. Show me one at that price I've got a grand burning a hole in my pocket lol
  20. I'd have another 2.5 MK3 aerotop again as they are a nice motor.
  21. I came home to a hole in my door, wing mirror ripped off and damage to the rear quarter. I did get the guy that did it though. To be fair a wing even from toyota isn't that dear £180 odd and some paint £100ish so not as bad as you think.
  22. £11k is not getting you a disco 3 with anything less than a million miles on it! FWIW if I was in the market for a bigger road towing wagon I'd go japanese now. Depends on what you want to tow as well mate. If its a horse box with 2 horses then fair does a 4x4 is the order of the day. If its the occasional dragging of a utility trailer then maybe a forester or something like that would be a better bet. I do know what you mean though about getting to a point where a more practical motor becomes a necessity not just a nicety. I could swap you a monster offroader truck but then I'd be stuck in 40 mph hell in a supercar all over again lol.
  23. Ah mines going in the utility room on the heated floor. then in the garage. I've got a thermostatically controlled heater element to go inside the brewing vessel but I don't think I'll need it.
  24. In the loft? Surely you need it in the airing cupboard for brewing and then in the loft for the settling time?
  25. I've got 3 days off work now so I think I will hose out the barrel and get a brew on
