sold Lexus GS300 10J 8.5J 18.s Mint with Toyo R888
dangerous brain replied to StuartW's topic in Parts for Sale
I'm a little stunned these haven't sold. I know its a time of tight belts at chrimbo but people bang on and on about not being able to find either the R888's or these rims and here's a set of both. If you wanted either the rims or the tyres the other half would fly off your hands in February after pay day. I remember the days people were group buying these from I think it was Italy for £1500 just for the wheels alone. I've seen rubbish paint and lacquer peeling with ropey tyres on go for over £600 -
Where is the car and could he take a credit card payment as getting cash out to that tune could prove difficult this time of year?
-
Buddy if you intend on getting quick anywhere I would not entertain keeping the tyres. You could in the least have someone whip them off and examine the inside of them as the damage will show internally more than externally. You don't want to find out that your tyres aren't safe by blowing out over a tone and hitting another car or the armco quite hard.

I'm not seeing a 30 0r 40 sign in your incoming village shots. I am seeing a relatively big junction space with what appears to be very good visibility of traffic coming from the right when sitting in that junction trying to turn right (if you are following the road lines). From the lines you have drawn on the first picture I would surmise that the other driver approached and clearly saw your Mrs pulling out across her and tried to avoid her in the natural direction most drivers would take ie away from them to their right when seeing a car coming from their left. If the offending vehicle came to a stop in the space of that picture you've put up and there aren't massive skid marks then the other car was hardly hacking along. FWIW it looks like a lack of road awareness on both parties sides that your Mrs is going to end up paying for.

I think you'll find a lot of club aristo members are also members on here in order to pick up the engine specific information that is available in here. You'll also find that the members from there are the more technically interesting people over there. You may find that sweeping statements like your opening line may be interpreted in a bad light. You may find that the supra chaps will tell you stuff about the engine that will not migrate to the car that is the aristo. You will find that the car specific forum is the better place to start your questions and then move your attention to the forums that have more information about serious power upgrades.

MMMM having had several of these cars from a manual 6 speed conversion to the Do-Luck T67 demo car and being an original member of club aristo from the offset and having had BPU versions of both this car and MK4 supra's I can say that I have no idea how you are going to BPU your mates car. I could tell you that the two cars are identical and that you will only need to buy the same parts as from a supra but I wouldn't know what I am talking about so crack on and buy what you are told to from here and have a garage full of supra bits (I'm sure you'll be able to sell some of them you haven't tried to bodge on instead of buying the right bit!)

For the un-informed what is the difference between a landcruiser colorado and a hi-lux surf? -

Winter tyres chaps, they really do make that much difference -
On the other hand my man no-body will thank you for selling off all of your assets to end up still bankrupt. If the prospects are bleak long term then consider the various debt management systems that are available. The corporate world is all revolving around credit value but really when you drop off that scale the relative agencies will try and get you back on it. If it was me (and I've been recently in this boat) I would not sell any thing that cannot be directly attributable as an asset. Vehicles that have HP or loans against them are not assets that can be sold by anyone other than the owed agency) Take some financial advice from a professional before you start selling your life away.

I really don't know or understand why people will pay a few quid less for significantly old, unknown condition, often unserviceable second hand brake parts when fully certified, as brand new parts are available for a few quid more! Horses for courses I guess. I've had 2 sets of 4 pot fronts, and a set of rears from them over the years, and even with not reimbursing the exchange option I'm yet to find alternatives that can compete on price.

Just so happens I know a man that was involved in the very core of this sort of developments. He had a very immediate bereavement and now works for himself in a more general vehicle technical environment but what this man knows about LPG and its uses I would say is unprecedented on this Island. In the world of extreme motor sport I believe you will start to see some incredible advancements in other fuel injection enhancement systems.

if you wanna go off when jap twins blow then who am I to stop the party

http://www.Brakeparts.co.uk are selling UK spec budweg branded calipers that have the same markings on them as the OEM supplied items as new from the factory for £480 (that is both front and back BTW) plus minimal delivery charges (surcharges apply so check how much they'll give you back for your old calipers). The pads and discs are not much cheaper than OEM ones which aren't huge money at toyota really. I still can't believe how much some people charge for un-warranted, unknown age second hand calipers and ropy old discs lol.
-
Try to run them at 1.6 bar of boost on stock injectors providing 500 odd brake at the fly and it won't be long before you shag both of the twins probably simultaneously and your engine won't be far behind them

Winter is on its way chaps. I have a set of 235 35 18" hankook ice bear snow tyres for sale. I used them last year throughout the entire snow period and I can honestly say that driving on snow was no different to summer tyres like goodyear eagles in the rain. RWD TT uphill with traction control on all I had to do to pass every single car stranded on the roadside including light FWD cars was to press my foot to the floor and let the traction control meter the available power and not once did I get any nose out lack of steer-ability. I am only selling up these tyres as I want to put the same ones on my new car but as its an MX3 18" wheels are not an option. If required I can throw in the shockingly horrible miss-matched 18" alloys they are currently sat on 2 Toora 5 spokes and 2 lexus GS300 sport diamond cut with corrosion issues. £250 plus you pay delivery (if you want the rims the delivery will cost more I suppose) MMM might be 225 40 18 actually (I'll have a look in the light) its these ones anways http://www.camskill.co.uk/m11b0s1316p61815/HANKOOK_TYRES_WINTER_SNOW_CAR_HANKOOK_W300_ICEBEAR_HANKOOK_W_300_-_225_40R18_92V_XL_TL_ I can measure the tread but they look pretty much as they did the 4 months before when I bought them.

Anyone want a cheappppppppppppp aero top?
dangerous brain replied to The Raven's topic in Supra Chat
OOOOOOO its soooooo tempting. Oh no that's right I live down a shitey road that would mean having to take a 20 mile detour to get to work every day. -
Erm actually I beg to differ. You can in fact LPG a diesel. You just can't run 100% LPG like you can on petrol cars. The engine running it will determine how much diesel you need to feed in to get ingnition. Like has been mentioned earlier LPG will significantly improve a diesels power (and if used with a light foot will improve MPG). Have you considered water injection? That should provide quite a reasonable power increase on a diesel and subsequently better MPG as it burns more of that fuel instead of pushing it out the back as a cloud of smoke. I've had an LPG kit fitted professionally and I've done it myself from a pre-installed on a similar vehicle kit. One thing I will say is that since I sold my TT aristo on gas every single LPG pump within 20 miles of me has been either shut down or run over by a lorry.

sold Uk Spec front brakes , calipers , discs , pads & braided hoses
dangerous brain replied to a topic in Parts for Sale
If those came off the aerotop you got off Gruggs they would have been brembo discs. I painted those calipers red. Craig looks like you are slowly buying up everything I ever sold lol -
Selling my black TT aerotop to a chap that tore it apart, sold most of the parts and AFAIK never then had it back on the road again. OK I just found the car. OMG I feel like crying http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?257329-Aerotop-Shell-%A31000!!!-BOGART-D10-S-WITH-TYRES-amp-Lots-of-other-parts! thats my car!!! It breaks my heart to see that. I spent £1600 on the interior of that motor and now look at it
-
So are we saying that some cars can trap at speeds they shouldn't with the power that they have and that 540 at the crank is possible on stock twins? I think there is something very special about those turbo's because you don't get 100 bhp by just swapping ceramics out for steels and having a bit more timing control.
-
If that car was stock green instead of RSP I would be bending all of my available resources to buy it despite living at the wrong end of hell lane

My advice FWIW is find an installer that you trust and go with the brand that they reccomend. Most of the systems these days are technologically similar in their comparable price bracket so it comes down to who you trust to fit the hardware really.
