  1. Don't the yanks all do ethanol? I would imagine this has been done before over the pond NO?
  2. Porkers have the engines at the back don't they? Wouldn't be quite so bad that way. Not sure why you wouldn't be able to find somewhere closer to the engine to fit that. A supercharger would do a better job of producing 5lb of boost though.
  3. I'm sorry but I would have to question how hard you were actually braking then as I could easily cook UK spec brakes never mind J-Spec brakes. I would also suggest that you've never tried to haul a supra down from 140 to lower than 30 in one go. Do that with j-spec brakes and you'll boil the fluid in and around 40. Bear in mind that a BPU supra can easily attain 140 being able to stop from that speed is quite important. As far as manual boxes being more fun is concerned I have recently purchased a 6 speed 300bhp diesel beemer and it can be quite an effort to keep changing gears on the country roads I commute on. Long term I think an auto would have been easier. I also struggle at times to know where I am in the gear system as the damn thing is so quiet.
  4. If you are commuting and want a car you can leave anywhere you won't go far wrong with a 330D or 530D beemer. It's the sheer size of the doors and how low you sit in a supra that makes getting in and out in tight car parks an absolute mare especially if you are trying to cart a laptop bag and other items in and out.
  5. With those miles on it and the lack of maintenance that leads to some of those types of faults and what has not been said makes that a bit of a gamble methinks.
  6. Might be worth your while taking it into another Toyota dealer and see what they diagnose on the car?
  7. I think it's a focus which going on the fact its a 2.0l probably is a focus not a KA
  8. Yes both very beautiful women that anyone would be happy to aspire to but one has significantly more cash support than the other!! POINT made!!
  9. Funnily enough I was as happy as a guy called Larry as long as I had my NA aerotop, that was until I went to the huge Southampton meet and drove in a huge convoy of supra's and found myself lacking in keeping up ability. Evaluate an NA on it's own merit and you'll not find a reason not to have one, evaluate it against a TT or single and you'd never have it. Bit like having a bird off of coronation street and finding out that her sister Keira Knightly wanted you as well.!!
  10. OOOO the drama!!! Buddy it's an argument that has raged as long as I have been on here and longer still on the mk3 forum. I wouldn't be embarrassed to have raised the issue as at least one person that wasn't aware of how his comments were affecting you will now be a bit more sensitive about how he talks about your car. sensitivity isn't a bad thing but IMO a bit of a thicker skin will be needed and actually just ignoring or partaking in the banter will make you feel a bit better about the banter. Think on this for an ex supra owner I can't justify the expense of running one so you are one step up from me and I used to have a BPU aerotop
  11. Have you guys tried adding up what supra ownership actually costs? Fat wallet or nay running a supra unless you simply don't put tyres, brake pads, other consumables etc on it and never service it is flaming expensive. Having enough money to find to keep the machine going would indicate you have more than £5k to spend on a car in all reality. £5k buys either car. My point was that £2k is the largest gap and if you are smart and watch the market you'll find a car almost the same price for a TT. Patience is a very good virtue as is research. Don't get me wrong the perceived reliability of the NA is in itself a damn good reason to go for one (just look at the mk3 market for instance) but for me if I had to absorb the fuel costs and the tyre costs and the service costs I would simply not be happy to have NA power when at BPU there's 170 bhp more available. For £2k that 170 BHP is well worth the money no matter how many bags of it you have or haven't got!!!!
  12. See I don't quite understand how people can say that they can afford an N/A but not a TT? The difference in price between a similar condition N/A and TT is almost negligible. At most there is a £2k difference. If you can afford the fuel, insurance, and modding bug costs which again are negligible in difference then surely finding another £2k for a TT is the lower end of the overall costs of ownership? The available power is a significant part of supra ownership and it's not really stock NA to stock TT it's the whole TT BPU cheapness that makes the car the icon that it has been. I don't dislike NA's (I've had 2) but for the money I'd never have another one as the the TT BPU is soooooo much better a car to have. Most people wouldn't lift an N/A's bonnet at a meet as most people with N/A's wouldn't have anything other than a stock engine to look at which in lines and lines of cars with uber shininess and single turbo's to look at isn't really of any interest. I imagine that the skyline board has the same issues surrounding GTR's and GTS-T's
  13. I seriously do not understand sticking something on a car that is clearly not actually carbon in an effort to make it look like it's lighter? Naked carbon fibre doesn't look all that good but it's use as a weight reducing medium is obvious. Sticking extra weight on a car to make it look like it's made of carbon is just daft!
  14. You would normally be travelling along in a straight line at 70 mph or not far off it ie 5 degrees steering either way max. circumnavigating a roundabout will take most of the available lock both ways which is going to turn into significant effort almost immediately and at that speed you are going to need lock to lock rapid stylee. First up you will be feeling the reduced effort supplied by the powersteering system due to velocity that is designed to provide additional force feel to prevent over steering at speed, this will be rapidly added to by having no power steering pressure. Anyways high jacking aside i'd be fitting an oil pressure gauge if i was the OP
  15. You ever tried driving a car with wheels as wide as most supra's without power steering? no engine = no power steering btw You are doubtlessly a very lucky individual, I don't think that auto boxes like being forced to operate when the engine isn't running which is why i am sure I've heard you can't tow a supra far without taking out the prop shaft. No engine also means no brakes then as well. Thats proper scary sh*t. I boiled my brake fluid once hauling a car down from a hefty speed and it is stunning how quickly it all gets very horrible Crux of it is that if you have an ecu that shuts your engine down if it senses low oil pressure I'd be getting an oil pressure gauge with a warning way above the trip pressure of the ecu. I'd also stop being the last of the late brakers for now too!
  16. My 2005 320 is listed as 150 bhp? What sort of gains with a decat can they do? Also do they do a decat and dpf egr bypass fitting service to roll it all into one day?
  17. Available sizes: 18×8.5 ET30 (5×114), 18×8.5 ET30 (5×120), 18×10 ET20 (5×120), 18×9.5 ET12 (5×114), 18×9.5 ET30 (5×114), 18×9.5 ET35 (5×120) 9.5 inches not enough rubber then??
  18. WTF? The car's not made of chocolate? I personally wouldn't leave the R888's on there in those temps on a run like that as it's just a chronic waste of tyres that are becoming increasingly hard to get hold of but ce la vie! I lived in Holland for over a year and one of the most reliable times of my aristo was the hacks across europe at silly speeds weekend after weekend. FWIW I'd take the advice given previously and ensure your aircon works as that'll be required and make sure that you've run the car in before your trip after any major mod work!
  19. I had exactly the same issue with a golf tdi years ago. I never did get to the bottom of it. It's gotta be boost cut of some sort as mine only ever did it under high loads ie accelerating at WOT at certain speeds and when towing a load up a hill etc.
  20. Yeah they come strapped to a rebuilt engine!
  21. Ah well that isn't normal AFAIK so you may want to have that looked at first as RLTC can't do anything if the TC system is coming in before it.
  22. Ai but stock TC is no-where near as sensitive as RLTC's least sensitive mode is it? Snow mode trigger is there for complete and utter traction loss isn't it? I know on my aristo you had to really lose the car on snow before that would trigger or select it on the switch. If it's triggering with slight wheel spin and it didn't before then by defacto the only thing that's been changed is the RLTC therefore it must be the RLTC instal that is causing this issue?
  23. I would argue that it hasn't been fitted right if the stock traction is cutting in before the RLTC is. In fact if the stock traction is still active with RLTC then it definitely isn't installed or commissioned correctly
