  2. A restrictor ring is only about 2" diameter mate, as your car has no restriction in the exhaust when its in TTC and both turbos are generating full boost they are just blowing the #1 wastegate wide open and still generating the 1.5 bar of boost you are seeing, you need to put a restrictor ring to literally limit the boost the turbos can create by causing a big restriction in the exhaust, this combined with the wide open wastegate will bring the boost your turbos create right down to whatever the restrictor ring is designed to provide, normally 1 bar or 1.2 bar, and then the boost controller can now begin to close the wastegate and raise the boost your car produces, giving you your boost control. At a guess I would say you do have boost control without the restrictor ring in place, but it would be at a boost far beyond any of us would set our controllers too for fear of destroying the turbos, as the controller would still be able to close the wastegate, but probably somewhere in the 25psi+ range. If you set the controller any lower than that then because the turbos produce so much boost without a restriction in place the controller would never have to close the wastegate to generate more boost, giving the impression you have no control, when really you do, its just at a stupid level Unfortunately I can't help with sequential mode problems! Good luck!
  3. I'm not letting you drive my car again!!!
  4. Nah not yet mate, I've been being lazy, need to order some silicone hoses from ebay and I should be good! If you want more noise I have a very nice 3.5" Veilside TI exhaust I could be talked into selling....
  5. Does that one person know more than Toyota? I'm of the opinion that the OEM stuff is there because Toyota deemed it necessary, but of course it may be another system they over-engineered
  6. 2600 for ecu and sensors, 350 for mapping, 600 for the paddle shift..... few hundred quid labour and there's your 4k
  7. I got mine for £180 delivered, full stainless steel, except for the welds, as mentioned, they have started to go rusty after nearly 3 years, it is used all through winter too. With the 2.5" ebay decats I paid £300 for a full turbo back system, fitment was spot on, for what I paid I can't really fault it! I'm in TTC, and my car is quieter that most BPU's in sequential I hear, this may be due to the 2.5" decats though. It sounds great on boost, the drone is liveable off boost cruising on the motorway, you can hear the exhaust but you don't have to raise your voice to talk above it. As for the performance I can't honestly say, but as some singles still use 3" catbacks without running into flow restrictions, I guess you would be ok
  8. Just get your hands down there and give it a twist Having said that, I don't have ABS so I guess access is easier for me.
  9. I'd thoroughly recommend Chris Wilson's fast road pads if you are after a better feel from the brakes, far better than a stock pad.
  10. I'm up for it, as long as James has one of the slow karts this time Chris, isn't your hand still bandaged?!

  12. If i remember right his car is the stock tt that the 'budget buster' na/t and na-tt have to beat.... Car is looking naughty James! Bluewater tomorrow?
  13. I'm round the corner from you John, we could convoy down to the next one if you'd like? Also I'll respond to your facebook message now regarding the apexi safc
  14. Im still waiting for one of the lads to pm me back regarding the k&n part numbers, i'll let you know when i hear back mate
  15. The only real trouble with making that kit yourself is the velocity stack for the first turbo, you could cut up an ebay intercooler pipe kit to make the right piping easily enough and buy the k&n's yourself... I have been asking about the kit on their thread but none of them seen interested in it anymore
  16. For much the same reason as NA-TT's, a deviation from the cars original standard, another major modification to inform the relevant authorities and insurers about, admittedly the gearbox swap probably will not affect the insurance as much as a TT swap, if it affects it at all, but it would still carry the wrong details on the VIN plate. I know that given the nature of these cars and the vast majority of members attitudes to modifying this doesn't carry much weight, it is just my opinion that a converted car of a similar spec to a factory car is worth slighty less, whether that opinion is right or wrong
  17. 10kish imo. Well specced, very clean, but ultimately still a converted auto so will be less desirable than a factory tt6.
  18. Supposedly the TRD mount makes the 6 speed box horribly noisy, like its about to break, I think both tooquicktostop and Pig put TRD mounts on their cars and then swapped them straight off for OEM
  19. Unfortunately the stock turbos use internal wastegates so an aftermarket one won't fit without serious modification.... Its a shame, because they respond so well without the restrictor ring in, in 5th at 3100rpm I make 1 bar of boost
