Paul is a great trader but you cant win them all as they say. I got the BC racing coilovers at a bargain price, and a few months later he was offering them cheaper!! but he quoted me £50 quid for a set of 4 Jspec caliper springs even though Paul Manley was doing them at less than £10. Swings and roundabouts at the end of the day he is a trader and operates a business and hence needs to make a profit. Some deals he does very well others not so much. As people have stated he would have made a mistake with the delivery he is only human after all.

Also if you went the self levelling super screed and could afford to lose around 150-200mm of height (75mm kingspan insulation + underfloor heating pipes + at least 75 mm of screed) you could go for underfloor heating which may help you with the detailing if your garage was kept warm, just a another thought to consider.
-
You can get super screed self levelling cement, we have used it a few times. Cheap compared to other flooring. Guaranteed level surface to work off its pumped in. Just wondering if a colour additive can be added (maybe if someone could clarify) then you could have a coloured and level floor that will not fade over time. You will probably have to have at least 75mm depth though.

And bumpety again (it's an interesting thread!)

Presents, spending time with friends and family. Xmas would die on its pagan ass without the whole non-religious element attached to it. Same as horse racing without betting and Australian cricket fans without booze available at matches. HTH

Nope as Heckler quite rightly said all LED's require some current limiting (ie. resistor in series unless operating at its forward voltage ~1.1 - 3V depending on LED). Those 5V and 12V Led's that Maplin sell will have an inbuilt resistor to make them idiot proof as its just too tempting to put them across a 9V battery. "F*ck thats bright.......... POP....... smell of arsenic.......feeling dizzy...... best sit down for a bit" (yes i've done it!).

Can't advise on the wishbones but regarding the recent snappage of a rear ARB and the fact that a few other members have suffered the same fate its probably best to replace them and there mounts and droplinks too as preventative maintenance.

Just be glad you are in work and by all accounts its a booming trade this time of the year. I was out of work for four months last year, that is a time to rant. Since gas prices are rising why not do the same with your quotes since your workload seems to be season dependant. Hell at least you won't be cold at work (itchy maybe!). Ive been laying drainage all last week that was fun.

You could try selling back to your nearest electrical wholesalers especially if they are unopened. Problem is RCD's with mcb's are much cheaper and most electricians use this route when having to supply supplementary protection. However there are the odd jobs when you could do with one, tempted...... But no, My TOAD alarm is having a mid life crisis at 4 years old. So will have to throw money at getting that sorted. Sorry. I think I have found what is draining my battery
kjgreen3 replied to China Man's topic in mkiv Technical
If my muti meter is set at 10A and the reading is 0.02 what is it in mA ? is that acceptable battery drain? 20mA So if you have a 60Ah Battery (fully charged) then it will last 60/0.02 = 3000H ~125 days before being completely drained. I would hazard that after 30% discharge or 40 days the car won't be able to start, but other factors affect the battery life like temperature, age etc. At 20mA 0.02A your car should start after 2 or 3 weeks without use. But if you are leaving it stood for that long it would be better to disconnect the battery. -
Vredestein Wintrac or Ultrac last around 20k if wheelspinning and burnouts are kept to a minimum, i.e ZERO also its the best tyre I've had on the supe for a hard compund tyre.

I Agree but ultimately one person's actions can ripple. Example I used to work for Kier (large construction company). Because one apprentice tiler kept cutting his hand on the tile saw (3 or 4 accident reports i 2 months NONE requiring more than a plaster) a default to gloves policy was brought in and every single operative from Electrician to H&S supervisor had to wear gloves appropriate to their job role. Our stores stocked 30 different types of 10 different sizes (so 300 in total x number of operatives, and the fact new gloves were ordered daily by each operative due to them being damaged/lost etc). Suddenly the companies expenditure was down 100K a month! for one fools actions, for the rest of the companies operating life. Obviously affecting future pay rises, pensions, higher tenders for jobs - less chance of getting them, etc. That muppet should have been sacked or trained in the correct way to use a tile saw. Talk about the butterfly effect running at full force.

Simplest answer to sorting this situation it is generate more revenue, obviously public sector services are needed but don't generate a profit. Rightly so, otherwise it would become a business and be run improperly to suit its investors. So I think if health and safety legislation was reduced to "common sense" levels and the sue first ask questions later culture imported from america was abolished (compensation levels reduced to fair amounts depending on claiment, claiment's situation etc) then companies would start making a profit as liabilty insurance would come down making operating/start-up costs less. Britain's industry may come back, we may start manufacturing and exporting at huge levels again, become a global player, attract large scale foreign investments. Rely less on the banking sector, take away some of there power etc. Off topic I know but in an ar*e about t*t kinda way, the government would have the money to pay the public sector emergency service, no silly hours, low pay, 25% Police cuts.

And what you did in your previous post to this is assume I would take it in the ass by the man just because I don't believe in striking (which by sherlock holmes like ASSUMPTION you do). Can't see how that works are all cases of forced/willing anal intercourse by government officials caused by people who don't believe in strikes? I just have a feeling that if this strike goes ahead a few more deaths than normal can be attributed to their lack of action (and the lack of suitable training by the army or whatever force takes up the slack caused by the strike).
-
So if people die get injured during a strike its ok by you? PS. I'm self-employed so striking won't do me any favours, probably why I'm not a big believer in it!
-
No I don't know the particulars of this strike. I just generally disagree with striking as a whole. In this particular instance if arson and fire related deaths are higher during the strike I hope the striking firefighters hang their heads in shame. To me its like heathrow operating flights with striking air traffic controllers. Surely there has to be another way to resolve their dispute with pay/working hours/not enough pool tables in the games room.

Me? Nah never. Just cos my membership is up for renewal........ oh I've renewed sorry Sir, don't know what came over me all this anti-liberal talk must be the nettle soup I was eating.
-
I was just answering a question which had nothing to do with the OP's post. To answer the OP's post I don't agree with strikes at all. Its like tree huggers and veggies causes way too many problems than it solves. Happy now?

Yes its shocking but pretty much every penny in all INCOME TAX goes on the welfare state, benefits, jobseekers, disability, housing, council tax relief, bills, etc. All our services and public sectors are paid for by indirect taxes (Fuel, VAT, N.I, smoking, alcohol etc). When you see that stat. you can see why the government cannot afford to give the fireman let alone anty other public sector a pay rise or decent working hours for their current salary. It just goes to show how quickly and how badly our economy has suffered under labour and how much more it will suffer under conservative (I ignore lib. dems as most of the government does anyway) I think we as a country should all suffer a little for the greater good and a quicker end to our spiralling debts and huge daily interest repayment which AFAIK is 120 million GDP daily!!!! So cut public sector, hold back on private sector raises (but invest in companies all the same to promote growth and employment opportunities). Reduce welfare and seriously punish benefit cheats/abusers. Get banks lending again or charge them for not lending at least 10% of their net worth every year. I'd rather a short sharp shock as long as it doesn't cause a double dip recession than a long drawn out period of b*llshit where the economy grows at a snails pace and we lose out globally to the far east and america. Ohh long post, can you tell my membership is up for renewal.

Topsoil can be lost in domestic refuge if you don't put in more than 20kg every collection (or more if you utilise your builders black bin )

Concrete is cheaper than wood especially for external work, unless its pre-treated hardwood then it isn't going to last past 2 years unless you keep treating it. You could ask the builder if he would knock a hundred off if you stage the work by being his b*tch, I mean labourer. He could tell you what to dig out, you dig it out. Then when he isn't busy he comes and makes the formers, you mix the concrete under his supervision. Also you would learn a couple of things about concrete as well as getting it done cheaper. Plus its a sneaky way to keep an eye on him and see where this money goes.
