  1. Yeah bought my fresh import from them nearly 3 years ago they seem good dealers, hard to negotiate though! Took my supra to them when it wasn't starting after I had faffed with it, to cut a long story short. It took them 4 days to diagnose the problem but only charged me a one day's labour as it was a relatively simple fix. Turns out crank sensor had fallen off/gone out of alignment, also they give the standard 3 month warranty and didn't quibble when I took it back to get it fixed after noticing a small turbo oil leak. Cost me 10k for my jspec TT 6 speed when I bought it in March 2007, they won't haggle but after much persistence I managed £500 in a free thatcham cat 2 alarm and immobiliser setup. Apart from my faffing and a new water pump car has been solid for those three years.
  2. Take the battery leads off the supra and ask a neighbour or use your second car (if you have one) to jump CHARGE the now isolated battery for about 5 mins on a fastish idle 1500-2000 rpm this will charge the battery enough to start your car, assuming the battery isn't knackered. It also removes any issues with jump starting.
  3. Hell yes I cant wait to be moving tower scaffolds and podiums around just to do a 2 minute job in each room as now the internal walls are up before the first fix electrics have been done Guess thats what happens when the client doesn't want to pay for a quantity surveyor or architect, drawings are changing on a weekly basis and they have run over budget by a couple of 100k. Bonus though is vending machine is on free vend - chocolate espresso I have missed thee!
  4. For cruising/granny driving I like alternative ballads like; 3dTo48hSLsw Although for general driving its much heavier anything by 'Avenged Sevenfold' or 'Killswitch Engage' sJLRomwvJr4 btw the drummer from Avenged Sevenfold known as 'The Rev' died on 28 Dec 09 so R.I.P many fans of your music genre will sorely miss your talents including me.
  5. I had a similar stench debacle. When my gf decided to be sick out of the supra window at 70mph not all of it decided to vacant the cabin. Needless to say I cleaned as much of it up as I could after we got home but the smell was still there. An old but true wives tale says leave a few chopped and peeled onions in a bowl in the car for a few days, the onions absorb odours and suprisingly don't leave the car smelling of onion. However it did take a few days for my odour problem to disappear, it was noticable better after the first 24 hours though. As for your cleaning issues you could try a VERY VERY dilute bleach and warm water solution and give the interior a quick once over, by dilute i mean the equivalent of one capful of bleach to 10 litres of water.
  6. I wouldn't recommend doing the upgrade unless your sparky mate insists on it. It only makes sense if you are selling the property in the near future to get it up to today's 'modern' standards. The problem is that 17th edition electrics sometimes require quite a lot of work on an existing installation especially if its quite old. Its nice to know that everything needs to be on an RCD but its not fun when a blown bulb on a split load board trips out every breaker on that busbar and your computer/tv etc loses power. If you want to do it for peace of mind then maybe you can and for insurance purposes I would recommend you get all electrical work 'part p' however in this day and age who says you didn't already have a split-load mcb consumer unit already installed when you moved in As long as all work is carried out and tested by a competent electrician I cannot see any problems. Just be glad it doesn't need to be done to the 16th edition what a PITA that was, for any other electricians reading this faraday cage anyone?
  7. haha just based on my experiences with them whether they're knocking on my car window or im giving them a call. Im sure any supra driving current/or ex policeman members of this prestigious forum are nice as pie
  8. Not always I used to think that but recently I got a fixed penalty for parking too close to a pedestrian crossing (even though it wasn't visible due to snow/slush) and I was more than polite with the officers in question to cut it short I was legal to drive the car was legal to drive and a warning would have been sufficient. I know coppers are human but they should exercise respect and make allowances for 'minor' offences which only require a civil discussion of what you may have done wrong folowed by a warning. If they have a bad day it doesn't give them the right to abuse their powers to the fullest extent of the law. IMO all coppers are different but the vast majority are no more than glorified bouncers who exert their powers too eagerly especially to the motoring citizen normally after they have breathalised you (you pass it) and haven't got anything major to convict you with.
  9. If they had not have forced me to move the car before getting me into the back of the cop car I think I would have taken some photo's and got both their badge numbers and said see you in court. Also I would have taken witness testemonies stating they were infact not carrying out their duty regarding dangerous behaviour by others members of the public as stated in my first post. However hindsight is a wonderful thing and I get the feeling that the copper who issued the fixed penalty and 3 points didn't get a blowjob from his boyfriend that day so was in a foul mood and hence targeted me. I hope karma sorts them out...... maybe with food poisoning and the sh*ts from christmas dinner tomorrow, heres hoping! On a side note the pizza was fricking tasty although not worth 67 quid which is in effect what it cost me!
  10. £60 fine and three points fixed penalty at half 10 last night. Not for speeding not for dangerous driving which I would have took on the chin. But for parking too close to a pedestrian crossing whilst waiting for my gf to get a pizza from the place across the road from where I was parked. In my defense it was snowy and slushy and I couldn't see the end of the zig zag lines and I was parked at least a car and a bit length away. These "coppers" had already been up and down this road and had passed me at least 3 times without stopping even though drunk people were in the middle of the road trying to hail anything that moved and some large group of youths were throwing snowballs at moving vehicles and people. These events made me question why they didn't stop to sort these out but decided on me. Fair enough if it was a check on my sobriety I welcome it as drink driving is a stupid thing to do. I aced the test (my first time broke my breathaliser virginity) but it seems like they decided not to use descretion in my case. I was civil with them, give them all available information I had on me at the time. The car (suzuki vitara) was mot'd, insured and taxed so I was legal in every sense of the word. But still the fixed penalty, I wish I had been rude, obnoxious and unco-operative as it seems you get let off with less if you mess with their power trip. Anyway rant over looking forward to my renewal going up next year not, anyone suggest a good insurer who won't sting you with 3 points on your license?
  11. I've had the same problem it will be the 10 or 15 amp (cant remember) fuse in the drivers footwall, next to the accelerator. Check all fuses in there, use long nose pliers or tweezers to pull them out if you dont have the correct tool to remove them.
  12. I have no problem in the snow, I take it very steady turn the heating on full and go back to bed Light surface snow in sheffield this morning not going to take the supra based on the fact its a jspec and slightly lower ride height coupled with the fact that some speed humps will be non-visible and sccrrapppee! there goes my bottom end. Will be taking the Suzuki Sh*tara to work - 4 wheel drive will be a godsend if it continues to snow like it has down south even if its running richer than Richard 'I'm a little bit rich' Branson. Will be replacing the O2 sensors on that at some point too.
  13. Simple then turn up to a metallica gig in the future and I may spot you, unless you look like 'where's wally' in a supra.......... Always had trouble spotting him.
  14. That would be me if the supra was an L registration black one, Awesome gig I loved Machine head's set as well.
  15. Sorry I wasn't very clear when I last posted. The air con unit is a separate entity, its about the same sort of size as the alternator but its on the right hand side at the front of the engine (as you look at it). I was using the alternator as a reference to the fact that the engine revs up when you increase the 'load' upon it. The alternator drives all the electrical accessories and keeps the battery charged up it has nothing to do with the air conditioning (except powering the fan/blower motor). Its the actual air-con pump that causes the revs to rise when you turn the air-con on. You could turn the air-con off when driving and turn the heater onto cool/warm/hot air and use that to keep the windows demisted. Also you will see an increase in fuel economy as the air-con saps engine power so you burn more fuel whilst idling and driving about it may be a couple of miles to the gallon, but don't quote me on that. I sometimes use the air-con to fast demist the interior windows when I first start the car on a cold morning but when the engine warms up I switch to the standard heater blower. This would stop the erratic revving as the heater doesn't cause anywhere near the same loading on the engine as the air-con does.
  16. Should be normal as long as the revs dont go above say 1500-1600 rpm. When under extra load the ECU will increase the revs to match demand and to prevent stalling. When your car is warm see what it idles at, turn your full beams on and you should notice a slight increase in revs as the alternator has to work harder to power these accessories. This is the same for the air-con when its switched on although it saps a lot more hp when its working hard. Anyway this time of year you shouldn't be having it on lots its freezing out! You only need to switch it on for 20mins once a week or so to stop the seals drying out.
  17. Looking for the centre console surrounding the gearstick which includes the ashtray, it needs to have ALL the retaining clips in perfect order (as a few of mine have snapped hence why I'm asking). Not bothered about colour and as long as its not got any deep scratches what would you want for it including postage. Its for a 94' Jspec TT Manual btw. Ta.
  18. Hey, The morgan watch would make a good addition to endless pressies my gf wants £12.50 posted eh?, do you have a paypal account if so send me a PM.
  19. I had mine done in wakefield (I forget the name of the company) FULL geo as Dnk mentioned about 2 years ago I forget the company. They only charged 30 quid although I couldn't get my rears done as the OP said the rear drop arm adjusters were siezed, so they did a partial GEO as the rears needed to be done before the fronts could be aligned. Spent a half hour trying to unsieze the adjusters with a scaffold tube on a long wrench, no good. However still only charged me 30 quid even though I was there for over an hour.
  20. Too far for me pal although coincidentally I'm currently fitting out 6 industrial units. Maybe try searching online for good references from local builders/sparkies/plumbers. Also I would suggest you view one or two of their references and speak to the clients to see if they would recommend them. With a quite a large job (10-50k im guessing depending on size and spec) on you want to get it right first time. Ideally I would suggest a firm which can do the job lot so you won't have problems with different trade companies not communicating with one another or doing their own thing with no regard for the next tradesman.
  21. When I was out of work I was on the dole and also turned up in a supra. However I parked in the pay and display car park as I didn't trust the queue of job seekers not to do any damage out of spite or maybe think I was a job centre employee, in which case it would have been set on fire! If any of you have been on the dole its amazing what benefits you actually get. In real terms with council tax relief and rent, jobseekers allowance etc I worked out I was on the equivalent of £750 a month. No wonder so many people take so long to actually find work Hope it isn't the case with you J1mbob1 and that you find something soon in the mean time the benefits you can get will help you tick over. If I hear of any sparky work I will let you know.
  22. Hey, I might be interested in these if you still have them. Could you find out how much to deliver them via courier or Royal Mail as I live ~200 miles away from Hampshire so pickup would be a little inconvenient. Ta
  23. Fair play glad to hear its complete BS seemed too cheap and easy to do, might go around telling people with chrome spinners thats it the best way to clean their bling though................ I always thought brillo pads were only supposed to be used on newly painted cars
  24. Search for 'heckler's blue light mod' on this site. He does it himself you choose the colour lights and send in all your dash panels. It's around 100 quid I think, however he is serving in Afghanistan until sometime in the first quarter of next year so cannot carry them out at the moment. You can search online for a how to guide if you are handy with a soldering iron as these mods are done with LEDS. I did mine myself in blue LED's (with a few purple ones as well!) looks good. Apologies for the poor quality pic my phone is dire resolution, lots of better pics of previously modded dash panels on this site but you get the idea it really does transform the vehicle into a much more modern look.
  25. I heard its a good idea to used scrunched up tinfoil (not aluminium foil) to polish chrome parts, can anyone clarify if this is true or complete BS.
