Not sure that's accurate, what makes you say that? I have taken several UK cars (not Supras) out of the UK without a full V5 which have been sold and successfully registered in another Eu member country with just the green slip and a receipt, the most recent last November. Maybe re-registration rules depend on the country, but certainly no hassles taking them out of the UK or transit through others.

Quote of the day: "Take a sh1t or get off the pot." Lets un-ban RogerNE, I have this strange feeling of deja vu. I do agree that uploading could be easier, interesting that Ric says its the easiest thing to do, Jeez maybe I am doing it wrong, but all the resizing and different locations for the resized images makes it tedious and thats why the use of Photobucket was so popular as an alternative, but even that was bit of a faff compared to something like Whatsap or Facebook. I don't do facebook, (the missus makes up for that) and like a few have said most likely never will so for me its the forum I return to often. I firmly believe its good to put something back into a forum that has provided so much information and support over the years, but that's not for everyone and I respect that. There are several other car forums that I use occasionally and have never done a thing for, and there's nothing wrong with that either in my opinion. But I would hesistate in going on those and being so negative about the set up whilst not offering some assistance or an offer of putting something back in. Organising a few events over the years, I have noticed it tends to be the people that contribute little or nothing who moan the most.

I missed this sorry. I am pretty sure I have a set of these brand new at home that I never got round to fitting to the wife's NA which is long gone now. I am not too far from you either, let me know if you are still looking and I will check

Mobile management is the poison chalice part of my job...sadly. In my experience of the last 18 years of handling this aspect most of the re-sellers are pretty rubbish. All promise you the world, flash presentations, expensive piss ups, VIP hospitality, huge reductions promised. Its something I have to go through every 2 years as a due diligence excercise. Previously we been with Arrow who were ok at first but then went all corporate and crap and then worse than crap and a complete joke, BT Mobile ok for the first term (soon after they started as BT mobile) but then after the operation started to grow and it was outsourced to a degree and became rubbish, Cortel...dont even go there!, and now APL (Adam Phones Ltd) who I have just signed a second term with. I cant fault them to be honest, but they are not the cheapest. The end users (most of them) I have luckily appreciate that service normally comes at a cost and at least with APL I don't hear "don't they know who we are" all the time from the users as APL deal with most things effectively and listen when something hasn't gone right. They have just launched a bespoke portal and ap which provides access 24/7 so you can monitor and manage yourself to a degree which is brilliant. I am sure in time we will have issues with them, but for the last 2 years at least my life has been a bit easier and a level of trust has been formed. One of the first things I ask any of them is what level of partnership they have with the network, this will tell you a lot. They must be able to prove that they have direct access to a portal of the network, imo it's essential or you may as well be doing it all yourself. It's nice to deal direct with the business arm of the actual networks if possible, but this isn't always as simple as you might think. Oh and more on topic, sorry, they are happy for you to use your own devices and this of course has a bearing on your hardware fund. Anyone who really thinks they are getting free hardware as part of a deal are wrong. There is always a cost for the devices and this is hidden an various ways. Good luck Al.

Bit more of an update on the "affordable" single turbo kits

Nice work and a refreshing approach. I am interested to see how this works out and as I have a piggy back already installed find this very appealing. -
Belong to anyone on here? Sounds like its having a few quid spent on it.
-
Oh ok, that's interesting as it was James (turtles) who recommended them to me and he knows his stuff and chatting to the guy there he was extremely knowledgeable and very thorough, more so than I had expected tbh. None of the work he has done for me so far has been Supra related though. Looked like he had been entrusted with a lot of very expensive engines too when I was there.
-
You have Lyndale Engines on your doorstep Keith, Turtleshead put me onto them and they have been great for various bits and pieces I have used them for.
-
Sold to Alex, thanks. But still gutted..
-
Absolutely gutted to be doing this but due to double booking I am not going to be able to make it now. Cant believe waited this long for it to happen again and now have to miss it. So, one member drag ticket/place up for grabs £45 that's a tenner saving just for the small effort of sending a PM, has to be worth it to someone.

I use a Ecumaster DET3 on mine and very pleased with it. OK so its not standalone like the one you are thinking about/have its a piggyback, but value for money, reliability, features etc in my opinion its great. They are quick to answer any questions you may have and in other markets very popular, just never caught on here it seems. If I go single at some point I will be using a ecumaster ecu most likely. Was chatting with one of the Latvian guys at the Ace meet and he verified what I had heard that in central and Eastern Europe they tend to be the aftermarket ecu of choice for many and he has one ready to go single. But again its all about who is happy to map it for you and how well that mapper knows them. I used Nod to map mine and following various rumours and threads on here had it checked for safety and it was safe, but needs a dyno mapping session rather than the road map it had. http://www.ecumaster.com/products/digital-ecu-tuner-3/

How much of a bargain was it? Auto or 5 speed?
-
"Awesome car, runs great and stole it from Jon ." If you are happy with it and what you paid for it, dare I suggest it really doesn't matter too much so long as there are no hidden dangers? its a 20 year old car, by all means make sure any accident damage has been repaired to a decent standard but if it was a bargain, runs well and to your satisfaction then just enjoy it.

As Chris said, these are multi layer boards, this means there are tracks that you cant see in between the layers. However, in my experience you would be exceptionally unlucky at this stage if it had penetrated between the laminated layers via the plated through holes. Personally, I would be on the lookout for a second hand one that is working and if the car is a keeper send it to someone with a decent SMT/de-soldering work station and get them replaced. I have a GTE ecu on my desk here that gave issues with my gear changes, I was getting the OD light flashing and MANU was disabled when it happened, exactly the same symptoms as an overheated box, I simply took a chance on a second hand ecu from the for sale section and so far so good. I do know a guy with all the kit to work on this type of PCB, but sadly he wouldnt be able to test it on a car afterwards due to being a TVR nut. RS components or CPC would be your best bet for the caps, but keep an eye on the ESR rating.
-
I would be ordering the TT one from them and then sending the NA one back in that packaging. That fan is mainly for a bit of extra air flow when the AC is switched on I seem to recall.

sequential issue and going ttc ideas please

I had months of problems with mine. I would do something and think it was ok, but because I hardly drive it these days when I did occasionally drive for more than a few miles up the road would discover I still had issues. Eventually with CW's help I got to the bottom of it though, mine turned out to be the little link hoses between the hard pipes that run along the bulk head and the engine pipework. A couple of these are an absolute pig to get to, I even read there was some guy on here who dropped his transmission to make access a bit easier.. I cheated and ran two long lengths of re-enforced thick wall quality silicon hose alongside the hard pipes on the bulkhead that replace both the hard pipes and the short silicon joiner hoses. Leaves me with 4 connections instead of 8 so that has to be a bonus. -
Just a pointer to anyone thinking of doing this themselves or trusting it to a ecu repair agent, make sure the replacement capacitors have a decent ESR rating. Capacitor technology has come on a long way in 20 years and ESR wasn't such a consideration then as it is now, but even so many caps advertised and sold even with the correct farad and voltage rating won't last long in the ECU. Good to hear you are using a ESR tester Chris. A couple of years ago I sent some VERY expensive broadcast standard COFDM multiplexers off for repair, they all had SMPSU issues due to dead electrolytics. Came back and worked fine for a few months but failed again due to the same caps failing. The repair place had used bog standard replacements and had lousy esr qualities. https://www.avnet.com/wps/portal/abacus/resources/engineers-insight/article/understanding-esr-in-electrolytic-capacitors

Ha, I wondered that. Especially as Uzzy's supra is red and he could be classed as middle years with an Asian appearance. Not sure about the shades though

Going to state the obvious here, you have checked for intercooler and pipework leaks haven't you? Classic symptoms. Very easy to check if you have access to compressed air.
