  1. He does have a valid point on this occasion. I recall the old Supra NA-T forum closing and a whole wealth of valuable info was at worst lost and at best hard to find elsewhere. But, I hope in our case as Jim suggests we are good for a while with the current level of activity and fresh membership.
  2. So reading up a bit more on this today, No.2 which on the LS ECU pinout is designated SP2- and SP2+ I think from memory is purely for the ecu to determine shifting? Sensor No.1 is primarily for the speedo? I understand a bit more about the configuration now and also the pin SP on the ecu that one of the guides tells you drives the speedo is incorrect and in fact this is the opposite and should have the buffered output (ye old "pink wire" on the JZA80) from the odo returned to it to prevent fault codes relating to duff sensors being created. Found this which should be enough to get us up and running. http://www.lextreme.com/forums/index.php?threads/1uz-speedo-setup-with-rf1a-t-case-help.16249/ Thanks for the feedback and info guys, will report back next week but looking at my wiring notes now I can see I have used the SP+ signal from sensor No.2 and left No.1 disconnected which is completely wrong. Such a shame we didnt have complete looms to work with, but nearly there now.
  3. Thanks but its not the sort of error from a few teeth less or minus, its a huge error. If it comes to it I can use a pic processor and build a little interface to use the wheel sensor but seems pointless as it should be doable without. I will stick my pod in it and see if its the same. Thanks Dave, as you know it changes smoother than a gravy sandwich. But you have made me think..I am starting to question myself now and wonder if I have tapped into the wrong transmission sensor Will check it out next weekend.
  4. From the ls, pretty much the same as the NA box. I know what you are probably thinking, that the sensor from the ls400 is putting out a higher pulse rate than a TT box, its possible. Somehow I had in my mind that the wheel sensors put out about the same as the gearbox sensor, maybe I dream't that but for sure when I use the wheel sensor instead its pretty much the same issue. I guess I can hook a scope or frequency counter up to my TT and make a comparison but was hoping someone had been here before to save me bit of time.
  5. Thanks Mike. Sensor output goes straight to the LS400 ecu in this case, part of the original 400 loom config. Connecting it as you describe gives the symptoms we have now, it works yes but is off the clock.
  6. So my son has his 1uz conversion on the road and it looks and sounds great. Its an early 1uz from a ls400 and in a TT shell. We have a few loose ends to tie up now and the one that is giving me problems at the moment is the speedometer. All the guides and common sense say the supra speedo signal up to the odo and speedo should come from the ECU speedo output"SP" on the 400 ecu. However there is nothing from this, I haven't scoped it yet but am confident there's not a lot coming from this pin. If I feed the speedo from SP+ from the gearbox sensor where it goes into the ecu then I get a speedo, but by the time we are doing about 40 the speedo is off the clock. Incidentally the sensor came with the transmission, engine and ecu all from the same donor car. I tried taking the speed signal from the front ABS sensor instead and the results are virtually identical. Any suggestions from those who have done this conversion previously?
  7. Though its awkward, you can just identify the cables you want to use and take them from the socket and then either join them or find an alternative multiplug and socket. We tried everywhere to find one without success for my son's 1uz transplant and I ended up chopping soldering and heatshrinking. Its tight down there but not impossible.
  8. Alex, you have probably sorted this by now as its an old thread. When you sold the car did you fill in and return the V5C/4 (the I have sold the car for Export bit)? If so this would have automatically triggered the Y marker. Hope that helps.
  9. Nice pics Mike and well done on receiving the trophy.
  10. Thanks Mike. Kev has some other bits of interest so will probably collect direct, but thanks again. Don't worry about the connector. Sadly neither of those sensors are OEM, the one with the chunky thread has just about the right slope but the thread and diameter is wrong and the other one has the incorrect temperature coefficient, but fits. OEM one been ordered now. Cheers. Kev. You have PM
  11. The connector and oem is exactly what we are after Mike, thanks. The after market ones we have tried have completely different curves to the oem. - - - Updated - - - The connector and oem is exactly what we are after Mike, thanks. 12. Cheers Mike, Think Paul is going over to see him this weekend anyhow.
  13. Anyone?? Last parts needed to complete a project. Also, the lower plastic panel the speaker covers fit on for the driver side required. Thanks.
  14. Mine works great to be honest, and so many features for the price. What is your one doing or not doing? I have just talked my son into buying one too for his V8 supra build, we are going to use his initially for MAF to MAP conversion and then possibly later for other stuff too. I would be trying to sort that starter issue out asap mate. First thing, eliminate the wiring by unplugging the starter control cables (not the heavy one) and seeing if the issue stops. If it continues then its the starter if doesnt then its something to do with the wiring, ignitions switch or starter relay I would think. Has it has a poor alarm imobiliser install at some point possibly? Was recently working on a car that had terrible wiring around the ignition switch and would have been a disaster if it had been left as it was.
  15. Really pleased you sorted it and glad to help. Well done.
  16. Here you go: it was the double tagged one that had been left off on the one we had. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=187142&d=1402933309
  17. Or to eliminate the earth issue, turn on the ignition and pull the plug from the map sensor, none of the pins should read over 5 volts ish using the -ve battery connection as your meter ground. if you are seeing more than 5 from one of the pins here then its the cables under the inlet earth problem. EDIT: Just looking back through my old posts and its all coming back to me now, what gave it away leading to the fix was that I had a voltage on what was meant to be the earth pin of the MAP sensor. So you should have 5V on one pin and a deffinite 0 volts on one of the other 2 if the earth is connected. HTH
  18. I reckon its the earth problem metioned earlier. It stops the injectors from opening. There is a couple of big ring tags soldered to some black cables that live under the inlet on a NA and these get left off. We spent a while on a car bought as a non runner a few years ago and eventually I realised that all the 5v rails for sensors like the map sensor etc were sitting high 10-12v high as measured between the sensor connector and true -ve at the battery. After hours and hours of fecking about we had it running in minutes once I had established the earth returns to the ECU were sitting high as the bolt had never been put back on the earth tag by the person who had taken the inlet off. There was a photo floating around on here of this very car and the offending ground connections courtesy of DavidP. If you have spark and you really want to satisfy yourself its a fuel problem then remove a bit of pipe work and hold a cloth moistened with a LITTLE petrol over the opening to the throttle body while someone cranks, it should burstinto life momentarily.
  19. Had a very similar thing happen to me last year. By aggreement with them, I have a cosy little corner of Tesco's private staff car park at the rear of my house which is also rear the access to my garden. I had a Supra shell parked there for a few years and in front of it (as in hemmed into the corner away from view of the street) a 1uz engine and box on a pallet, a good TT box, a good NA box and a shell of a TT box donated by David P for the rear flange when the 1UZ went into the supra. The Engine and boxes had been there for about 18 months. Came home from work and discovered a trail of transmission fluid the full width of the Tesco Staff car park where they had dragged 3 gearboxes in broad daylight to their van and had unstrapped a ratchet strap that was holding a plastic crate to the pallet full of 1uz parts and taken that too. I guess if they could have got their van close I would have lost the 1UZ too! Tesco had a little bit of footage as they have a camera on their door and the Estate Agents whose space the Pikeys had park in to knick everything had footage but the bint there didnt know how to copy it to a stick and said it would overwrite in 14 days but said they were happy for the police to come and look at the footage. Reported it and about a week later someone called me so explained the whole thing again and they hadn't read the report correctly which mentioned the availabiltiy of cctv footage and said they would get in touch with both Tescos and the Estate agents. By the time they did the footage had gone from the estate agent's system and the footage from Tesco was pretty useless. But the real kick in the teeth was the snotty letter from the Police saying their investigations had not thrown anything up and in future I needed to take more care of my possesions to make it harder for them to be knicked. Despite the fact these twats had had to drag 3 gearboxes out of a very confined space, up a steep slope and around at least 4 parked cars to get them to their ileagally parked van in a private car park. If the police had actually sent someone round to look they would have known this! I now have CCTV on this area but as usual it was only this theft that made me get it done.
  20. Adam that looks great, I am curious to know how much the wrap ended up costing and who did it presuming it was someone local. PM me if you prefer to post. As Burna said Littlenum's car is probably the best Supra wrap I have seen to date. As I wrapped mine (6 years or more now) I apreciate how difficult it is and can imagine that finish on yours took some doing. Nice.
  21. I have LS400 calipers on mine with HEL hoses and I struggled to get the dressing right, it is achievable but the angles are critical.
  22. I was there yesterday, but they had ran out of 99 Momentum Based in Irthlingborough.
  23. Nice meet and thanks to all who braved it, I think in the end we had about 20 cars which is a bit down on previous years but considering how cold it was not too bad. Hopefully we will get our normal midsummers night date back for 2019.
