    help for a yank

I can whole-heartedly suggest you obtain a copy of "Roger Mellie's Profanisaurus"

    Stealthosts...

    Some people are so unoriginal
  3. I've got a HKS SIlent Hi-Power and a 3" 2nd decat pipe to fit soon. I was just wondering if they should happily bolt on (stock 1st cat) no problem, as I'd rather not find out when I'm under the car!
  4. I wouldn't worry about it hitting the limiter unless the engine was cold - the limiter is there to prevent damage after all
  5. I'd be dubious about the guy saying your discs 'look' warped - if they're warped you'll hear them rubbing. Being able to see if they're a millimetre or so out of true is pretty good eyesight, especially if they were working face on to the discs.

    Cheap T61

Couldn't you swap the distributor with one of those electrical ignition thingymabobs that Demon Tweeks sells? :edit: Never mind, my brains not working properly today.
  7. I let her think that she wears the trousers 100%. But very rarely I have to put my foot down and give a very definite 'no'. Whether she pays any attetion to me is another matter.
  8. :edit: Sorry, just read previous posts and understand the 'stock good, poly bad' bit
  9. Doesn't it say in the radio advert that it's with "the letter U" rather than "you"?
  10. So Paul, when are you gonna get round to doing the climate control buttons in aluminium?
  11. I'll have a look in my garage tonight mate, could have sworn I had some lurking about somewhere.
  12. Got mine yesterday - nice little surprise to come home to! THanks Paul, they're top notch pieces of kit
  13. Does anyone know where I can get a set of copper washers from off the shelf? Was hoping to fit my calipers tonight and only just remembered these. I know Halfrauds used to sell them but none of the branches near me seem to have any, let alone know what they are.

    For better or worse

Congrats mate - I've managed to survive 4 months of marriage so far
  15. £12.49 from here, 250mm (not samco though): http://www.viper-performance.co.uk/products.php?cat=12

    The Import Pimp

No reply to email here either
  17. lol, I know what he means. But I don't have an Alpine HU so I'm no use at all!

    Newbie epidemic

I like it - all the newbies so far can type in English
  19. Chris Wilson email - [email protected] He is on here but prefers email rather than PM. If you search for his sig it tells you the verious way to contact him. Chris is a perfectionist - I've not used him for servicing but everything I have bought from him has been spot on. He's also very helpful on the phone.
  20. Doesn't colsoop do the polished / chromed stock pulleys?
  21. lol, sorry mate was more a 'thinking aloud' kinda thing, but typed! As i understand it the crank pulley is harmonically balanced, hence why uprated ones such as the BoostLogic one are so expensive - getting rid of the balancing can do very nasty things to your engine. Also my (limited!) understanding of underdrive pulleys is that they basically save a miniscule bit of power by making the component run a little bit less; surely not something that is particularly desirable on either the water pump for cooling, the alternator for ICE installs or the power steering for, um, steering (OK, I'm clutching at straws on the last one!) As I say, that's my limited understanding anyway, would be nice if one of the site brainiacs could elaborate
  22. I'm not sure i understand why anyone would want to remove the dampener from the crank pulley? Or underdrive the water pump?
  23. I've just painted my calipers black - used the 2 part Foliatec from Halfrauds. Seems decent enough, and easy to use. I also used a soft wire brush, copious amounts of brake cleaner (which also comes in the Foliatec pack, luckily), and some wire wool to get as much crap off as possible. I also had all my calipers apart on the workbench to do them which made things a hell of a lot easier!
