Ric Posted June 21, 2021 Author Share Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) I did a little work on the car today turning my attention to my subwoofer install and set about sound deadening my boot. I've done the rest of the car over the years but i always put off doing the boot floor. I also removed my 2x 6" subs from the custom enclosure to check the wiring as i didnt know if the subs were in series or parallel which could be screwing up the performance. I change the wiring around for a 2ohm load on my amplifier and made a few settings changes and they sound a lot better now. The fibreglass box looks a bit tatty inside and the speaker fastening area. I also put in some wadding into the box to help with the sound. After the few tweaks she had a little wash, the first in over a year! Thanks for looking. Nice work on the sound deadening, looks like a good job. Hopefully see you at a show or two at some point, getting close to having mine back on the road so fingers crossed it happens mate. Ric Posted September 22, 2021 Author Share Posted September 22, 2021 Small update. I needed a method to get my overdrive button back on the dash as i replaced the 90's shifter. I didn't want to cut up my original switch blanks as some of them are hard to find now. So i thought about 3D printing a solution. The first test was completely flat. Fitment was good. Now i knew the fitment was good i redesigned the blank to accept a switch i had laying around. Some might have seen via my sales thread for the Ftype seats i wasnt really getting on with the seating position of them. They would suit somebody not as tall as they sat quite high. So i decided to try and find some Recaro CS Sportsters which i've sat in before and found they quite comfortable whilst still looking great. In a sweep of major luck i found some which had already been retrimmed in a red leather extreamly close to my other items i had done. So i bought these had alcantara backs also. I needed some replacement CS frames as they came with some butchered renault frames originally. I ended up using my OEM recaro sliding frames from the confetti seats as they fit straight on there although i might change these in future to bring the seating position lower more. Here im testing the fit (i replaced the bolts later for some proper tensile ones. When the new seats were trimmed they had heating pads installed. I wired these up to a waterproof automotive connector for future use. Finally installed. Using the OEM frames made finishing the edge of the frame easy with the plastic trim what is included.
