Also got a Varley Lightweight battery thanks to Michelle Lane and also a set of Uk brakes

I also run a Varley red top 25 only weighs 5.2Kilos!

Demon tweeks do a nice aluminium holder for this cost about £30 and a lovely piece of kit.

I have been using these batteries on the race boat for 5 years and they really are far more capable than any Spiralux, wet battery 3 times its weight! Hard to believe but i have proved it.

Keep up the amazing work Ryan..

It wont be legal with the Cusco cage tube diameter.

its not the diameter thats the problem, it will be the "swan" legs up front that will not be approved. he would need to get rid of the swan legs up front to pass it through scroots.

EDIT: just checked rules and as we have altered the chassis we would not be allowed to enter anyway.

you can still enter with chasis alterations BUT it needs to be pre-approved by the time attack scroots prior to entry.

Steve spent some more time on the car finishing of the layout of the floor tonight. Once he is happy that everything is perfect. Then it will be seam welded.

This should stiffen things up abit and weigh alot less.... we hope :)

Just wanted to say again guys that please dont just praise me for any work on this project, most of the design and fabrication is being done by Steve at Autotec2004 who has been doing this stuff for years. He normally just works on specialist cars hence why you might see a special car in the back ground of some of the pics but im starting to twist his arm about working on a few special supras as Autotecs bodywork and fabrication skills are another level to everything i have seen in the past.

That very much resembles how my Tiger started....but you've got a Supra shell on top!

I hope you like riveting. Don't forget to put some sealant between the panels and chassis members when fitting them, just helps keep the moisture out and sitting on the rails.

How are you going to protect the metal? (please don't say Hammerite!) ;)

Hi Pete

The car is starting to remind me of my F27 kit car also :D:

The chassis members will indeed be sealed between the members and the floor but on some of the panel which we will be making removable it will have some rubber pad seal.

The whole interior and exterior will be sprayed afterward but not sure in the material which steve would use to protect the metal. Thats his sector :)

Time will tell though surely

After a few tests with the notcher i got to work on making the door bars, rear support, front bar and the front suspension turrets. Here are a few tested fitment pics

Also strengthened the Swan legs which is all going to be welded up tomorrow and then gusseted which will then allow it to pass MSA regs we have been told.

Well no pics tonight guys as i actually left Steve at it as im no good with welders! :innocent:

Tonight he is seam welding in all the floor and most of the cage expect door bars.

But tomorrow i will back over, helping to finish the front chassis leg supports and also finishing off the engine mounts :yahoo:

At this stage in the project im not much use as i have no experience with welding and grinding etc :(..... but i cant wait to get all the floor, engine mounts and the gear tunnel done so i can start making myself useful.

Wondering what peoples thoughts are with regards a roof vent as we have a feeling this car is going to be so hot inside that we need all the cooling we can get.

Ideally im after a scoop like the Impreza RA has and is closable but cant seem to find any for sale.

although this isnt my cup of tea, i thought the original scooby doo version looks better, aren't all these scoop type ones going to p**s in if it rains

Yh would prefer an RA vent but for how much they are new and 2nd hand its money i could be spending elsewhere tbh.

The one i brought looks good on the other car i have seen it fitted on and im buying it more over function than looks.

The one i got is a sealable unit and then has a water drain but it wouldn't be stored anywhere outside and on a wet track event i would just point the vents at the passenger :D

Update:

Gearbox and floor nearly complete  , just need to finish off the Engine mounts and mount the pedal box assembly before we can finish the firewall.

All the NS4 Aluminium has also been cut to the shapes required to cover the floor from the underside so its all smooth :) and we also ordered some extra to cover the rest of the bottom of the car so its flat. This we will need to experiment with though as it can be brilliant having the extra downforce but also very bad. Will let Tony explain more about this :)

The gearbox mount has been done also but we are currently looking for some rubber material to make some custom bushes to go between the floot and the mount so the vibration cant damage anything. Anyone got any idea's on this?

One thing i will say though is with the new floor and cage the car is rock solid.
