  1. Waste of money in my opinion, they cause more problems than they solve. The only type worth having outdoors is the carcoon.
  2. Yep a bent valve or it could be whatever is in there is stuck to the head or piston crown which is exactly what i mentioned earlier and sounded just like yours does now.
  3. It'll screw up the crank seal right behind it that's for sure let alone anything else and change the structure of the crank material, actually softening it which i doubt is a good idea. Also how far up the crank the heat would go doing god knows what to the mains and rod shells
  4. You have to be very careful using a pry bar, if you lever too high up the pulley you risk damaging the rubber section and too low you risk damaging the crank
  5. No just do it properly, the bolt is torqued up to 330 Nm so you will need a breaker bar Heating the end of the crankshaft up till its red hot really is the worst idea you can possibly have, red is around 700 C for steel ffs
  6. you have to take the rad out then etc much better to just make a tool to hold the pulley then use a breaker bar with some tube on it to extend the leverage
  7. To change the oil pump you either have to drop the subframe or take the engine out the bay so shed loads more work than doing the w/p. You don't have to take that much off to do the w/p really if you know what your doing and have the correct tools
  8. You don't need to use wd40, i don't see how that helps in the slightest, just the proper puller and they come off with no issues. Are you replacing the pulley Josh ?
  9. Did you bother to read his first post ? the opening line in bold text !!
  10. A boroscope will give you your answer Speak to local garages and see if anyones got one
  11. I think that just confuses the matter to be honest, smoke is down to burnt oil/petrol. Steam which is what your describing is down to water/moisture which is mostly in your exhaust. So the question is, does the steam/smoke clear once this na is warmed up ? if not its smoke and i'd go look elsewhere.
  12. So it only smokes when its cold weather ? i think you'll find its not smoke that's coming out your exhaust
  13. Mine doesn't smoke at any time, hot or cold or after its been left for over 1 month without being run.
  14. 54000 miles and its smoking, so its either done 254,000 or its been abused my car doesn't smoke one bit and is over 136,000 miles
  15. I'd go straight for the TT and don't waste £3k on an na that's worth maybe £1500 in todays market.
  16. The only place something in the combustion chamber can go is out the exhaust port or maybe out the inlet port but i doubt that would happen. Sometimes bits can get stuck in the head or piston crown and then you get more of a constant knocking noise rather than your rattleing around noise. If its still rattleing then something is still in the cylinder in my opinion, as i said just get hold of a boroscope and look in through the plug holes of 3 and 4, this is far cheaper than taking the head off and putting it back on
  17. you forgot to tighten the wheel nuts on one of your wheels
  18. I'm not sure what my car owes me but ignoring insurance, tax and fuel All the spare parts, wheels, body kit etc including buying the car is a max of £30k. If i divide buy over 12 years of ownership it's cost me £2500 a year if i were to give it away. If i get £5k for it its down to £2000 a year That's pretty cheap fun in my opinion
  19. Can you post another video of it running, i had a foreign body in 2 cylinders in an engine a while ago and once removed the engine ran and is still running fine 40,000 miles after the drama sounded just like yours if not worse. If you can get hold of a boroscope its worth whipping the manifold off and plugs out to have a look, that parts hardly difficult to do yourself or your dad perhaps.
  20. So this affects supras without Veilside kits how ? it makes them more desireable and valuable if anything.
  21. What about if he has to pay someone to do the engine change ? it'll be a tad more than £150 by the time its in and running
  22. Perhaps drive it as well eh Jazz ?
