If you drive it be careful as its getting cold again and a 400 hp auto can bite you quite easily
  3. Only going on what you said earlier about the on road risk, the 3k-5k price is what i was told i'd have to pay last year on my car. I think you insurance guys/girls would make great politicians

Being 25 will be a big help and a chunk of no claims bonus wouldn't hurt either. Try http://www.livingstones-insurance.co.uk

How old are you Simon and do you have any experience in high powered cars ?
  6. I gave up trying to understand car insurance a while ago as too much makes little or no sense. If the biggest risk is on the rd i don't get why i can up my limited mileage from 3k to 5k and i only get charged about £25 extra !
  7. I'd fit a new hose while your at it

What kind of budget do you have ? Have you looked into the cost of insurance yet ?

Just buy a TT and save yourself a shed load of work, if you find a nice one that's been looked after you can single turbo it and on a stock motor have 600 hp without any issues. Actually if you get an auto tt the box will be the weak link if you start upping the torque and power beyond bpu levels. At bpu (approx 400 fwhp) the tt is just fine on the autobox
  10. Depends how deep your pockets are and if you want to go the whole 9 yards on your engine bay. Painting the stock nuts and bolts is a non starter unless you don't ever open the bonnet
  11. Loose wheel, loose caliper bolts is the first things i'd check and asap

    Supra dude

The tacho on the auto has an indicator as to what gear your in
  13. The mkiv now has a long list of parts that fail due to age mileage and or a lack of being looked after. Heater matrix, radiator, ac rad, smic, brake calipers, brake lines, fuel lines, front cross member, suspension arm bushes, dampers, crank pulleys, front crank seals, engine hoses, vac hoses, turbo's, etc etc etc Judge each car you look at on its own merits and finding out whats been replaced is a must in my opinion or you'll be getting a shock in the near future.
  14. 235 45 17 front 255 40 17 rear

    Tyres

Your wheels could well be the same size front and rear and not staggered. What you need is a set of staggered 17's with tyres,, wink wink say no more

    Tyres

    Stock o/e size on 16's is 225 50 16 front and 245 45 16 rear
  17. No problem. You don't need to spend all your budget to get decent tyres on your car, i am trying the Avon ZZ3's on mine and i'm quite happy with how their performing and their pretty cheap compared to most, even cheaper than Falkens
