  1. Pound fell in value last night, so depending on how the airlines etc do their pricing, the price to you could well have risen a bit more (the effect will be less than supply/demand fluctuation though).
  2. There was another Tory MP who claimed for a "duck island": https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2009/may/23/mps-expenses-conservatives
  3. Your car needs 3rd party insurance in order to be on the road. The car itself doesn't need to be insured - only insured for the damage it could cause to others. Your policy will cover the car when it's not being driven. But when it is being driven, it covers the driver and any damage they may cause to themselves, the car, or third parties (assuming fully comp). Your policy states that only you are covered when it is being driven. That's fine - but it doesn't exclude other people from driving your car on their insurance. What will exclude them, is if you don't give them permission to drive it. That would mean they have TWOC'd the car. The Driving Other Cars (DOC) clause always requires the owners/keeper's consent. Perhaps you mean: If I borrow your car using the DOC clause on my insurance and I crash it, your insurance won't help (it only covers you to drive). My insurance would pay for damage I've caused to 3rd parties, but not to your car. Damage to your car is uninsured here - that's why you really need to trust those who you let drive your car under DOC.
  4. Absolutely. There's only a case (albeit a jobsworth one) against the OP if he was under 25 when he was pulled over. The insurance company could take a dim view of the OP using the DOC when he should have been added to his girlfriend's policy as a named driver, but that's a civil matter surely. Jackso's point is still valid. You can't have a policy that affects/overrides/cancels a clause in an unlinked policy. Your policy covers only you on your car (i.e. no other named drivers), and allows you to drive other cars. It doesn't make any judgement on whether other people can drive your car with your permission on their own policy.
  5. Sounds like similar symptoms: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?342584-Help-needed
  6. Bump: no-one do their own leakdown tests?
  7. Very nice, where did you have your respray done?
  8. Nothing - MSB is an informal (and unofficial) name for paint code 1A1
  9. Here's my MSB NA5. Far from mint, but I keep on top of the mechanical stuff. Stock apart from facelift centre caps, facelift front seats, and head unit. It needs a full respray.
  10. I'm interested to do a compression and leakdown test on both of my cars (mainly for the daily whip, but also curious to do it on the Supra too). Does anyone on here do their own leakdown tests at home? I don't have any of the necessary kit including air compressor, so could be expensive.
  11. This could be the cause, I can believe shorting the alternator power could blow the main fuse.
  12. A standard head unit will be fine.
  13. So sorry guys, my daughter's not feeling well today, so I'm at home looking after her.

    Europe

Here's the letter to the EU, if anyone's interested. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/29_03_17_article50.pdf Balanced and fair, I'd say. It'll disappoint those who wish for indyref2 in Scotland, as it says that won't happen. ("...we will negotiate as one United Kingdom...")
  15. Does it do a better job of removing crud in the bottom of the sump than the usual gravity drain method? It must be a small-bore tube it sucks through (if it fits down the dipstick tube).
  16. When the car is off or engine running, you'd expect no lights IIRC. With the ignition on (ancilliaries on, but engine not running), you'd expect all lights to come on - it acts as a kind of circuit test.
  17. Buying another disc really shouldn't be necessary. I'm certain that you can install Windows 7, using the sticker license on your laptop. If you take a photo of the sticker license, I'll find a cd-rom image you can use to install it. If I send you a link to a large ISO file, do you have the ability to burn it to a blank cd-rom (easiest), or bootable USB stick (quickest, but more technical)? I would urge you make a backup of your personal files - documents, photos, videos, music, etc.
  18. This suggests you can use a full (Microsoft call it "retail") version of Windows 7, with the sticker license that came with your laptop ("OEM license") https://techingiteasy.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/how-to-activate-windows-7-oem-license-using-a-retail-disc/ You'll need to use the correct version though - for example, if your sticker is a license for Windows 7 Home Premium, you won't be able to use a Window 7 Professional installation media. If you need a copy of Windows 7 installation media, I've got some of them at home. Let me know what you need and whether you want 32-bit or 64-bit. They used to be freely downloadable from Microsoft's partner (Digital River), buit I don't think they're available anymore.
  19. Thread hijack - does anyone have one of these available please? Mine's a bit tatty.
  20. Great thread, thank you. Some of these are jobs I'll be doing on my NA soon, and it's really useful to see the photos. Glad you uploaded the photos to the forum instead of photobucket too - works much better IMO.
  21. ~2nd April, 12:30pm~ 1. KamaSupra +1 2. Soopra +1 (Maybe) 3. TT Paul 4. MattExtremeBHP 5. James_cbr 6. stevie_b 7. 8.
  22. Is this of use? It's a wiring diagram for a TRL speed converter, but it shows most of the important pins on each bit of equipment.
