It might not have been drained completely. There's a coolant drain plug in the block itself, but AFAIK not many people bother with that one; they just drain from the bottom of the radiator. I wouldn't lose any sleep over not completely draining it, as long as you've got a large proportion of the old coolant out.

What were your injuries? You probably didn't intend this but threads like this can come across in a purely money-driven way. Readers forget/ignore the literal pain that is caused, and only see £££ signs.
-
Wise words. Also, although you say it's been converted to UK spec, no-one can take advantage of that where it matters, i.e. cheaper insurance, because the shell and parts of the drivetrain is still from an import. Value? £5k sounds like a fair starting point.

Does it have the UK auto gearbox, or the NA auto gearbox?

There's a fair bit of leeway in the mixing ratio: a 50/50 mix will probably allow you to drive within the artic circle in the depths of winter, as it will protect down to something like -20 deg C. I use distilled water. It's dirt cheap for the peace of mind it gives (I don't want my heater matrix looking like the inside of my kettle).

Nice lass, nice car.

Still sounds tricky for someone like me who drives a desk for a living. I have asked, and they wouldn't give me one. I'd need to borrow someone's business card I guess.

Searched for "adult" and "extreme" on the forum. This is not what I was expecting.

I agree with the comments about the spoiler being iconic. Would you modify a classic 911 by removing the whale-tail?

Oops, wife just caught me studying the photo closely. I tried to explain I was analysing the shadow directions, but that didn't wash...
-
I'm convinced it's a photoshop. The shadows aren't in the same direction from the supra as from the other cars. At a push that could be down to local lighting (e.g. lights in the roof of a tunnel) but I doubt it. Also, how would it have been taken without causing a pile-up? Traffic looks like it's flowing freely, and setting up a posed photoshoot with a stationary car in the middle lane of a free-flowing motorway would surely have ended in tears or death. Another feint possibility is that it's not a motorway/freeway at all, and either a large film set or a road on an industrial estate somewhere. It looks like the model has had several photos of her taken, with or without her on a supra, and the photos have been edited to varying degrees to form part of a set.

If the cable isn't long enough, you can get USB extension cables (with a full-size USB plug at each end, one female, one male). I would try Branners' suggestion first though, as that would be ideal.

Soopra, is that you....?

Very good point. Various governments have spent millions on road-widening schemes, and what happens? The inside lanes are deserted, because people just cruise in the middle lanes. I've heard from people on here that drivers sometimes regard the middle lane of a 3-lane motorway as being the safest lane, hence why people cruise for miles in the middle lane. Why? What's that all about? 10-yearly compulsory re-take of driving tests FTW! (to include a bit of motorway driving for those who have already got a license) I should start a campaign about this!

2) I'd advise you get the ECU to tell you any stored error codes using the paperclip trick.

Just tried them. For me, not even close. Thanks for the tip though.

Interesting reading. A "100 greatest ... of all time" will always get people debating as greatness is such a subjective quality to measure. But looking at the list, I think they've done a good job. I can't see any howlers in there.

I wonder if the expensive brands of oil are worth it on an unmodified or lightly modified car? I'm thinking not, but willing to be proven wrong. The problem is that it's nigh-on impossible to conduct like-for-like tests to compare cheaper (e.g. Halfords, auto factors) and expensive (Royal Purple, Silkolene etc) brands. What I do know, is that I've never knowlingly had to scrap a car or its engine because of poor-quality oil having been used. I just use a semi-synthetic oil of a particular grade.

There is some debate about whether that "trader" is indeed a trader or not. He could be: I haven't seen any news articles to give strong evidence that he isn't. On the other hand, he is quite woolly and vague when it matters. When asked what he would do to fix the economy, he brushes it off by saying that he's a trader and he's not concerned with fixing economies. True, but as a trader he would have some kind of opinion as to what the financial leaders *should* be doing. He would know the effect of issuing more bonds, he would know the effect of more QE rounds, etc etc. It's been suggested he could be part of a group called the Yes Men, a group who AFAIK conduct spoof interviews saying surprising things. Google it and Dow Chemical if you want to find out more. So, he could be a real trader, but he doesn't speak about it like he really knows what he's doing. On to the Euro: like j_jza80 I always thought it was a bad idea, mainly due to the member economies not being aligned anywhere near enough. For fiscal policy, one size does not fit all because each country has its own set of problems that aren't similar enough to those of other countries. By having a single currency, the European leaders were implying and hoping that one size does fit all. Edit. Make up your own mind: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/8792829/BBC-financial-expert-Alessio-Rastani-Im-an-attention-seeker-not-a-trader.html

Insurance is genenrally very specific to an individual's circumstances, but these two companies seem to be competitive across the board: 1) Lynbrooks if you're happy with a classic car policy 2) LWIB if you want a normal, non-classic policy. Job done. Also agree. On principle, I don't change insurers if someone promises to beat the incumbent (and does so) by a small amount. They've got to be meaningfully competitive in order for it to be worth my while switching (checking they've got all my details correct, sending off proof of a Cat 1 alarm, blah blah). I remember having a quote from Barclays once that promised to beat my renewal quote. They did beat it.... by £1. Come on! I didn't take it out, but what would happen if I did? Would my quote stay at the low level? I think not! Another thing I never do is tell insurance companies who my most competitive quote has been from. Why do they need to know that? Is it so they can undercut that specific insurer out of the market, leaving them free to ratchet up their prices when the competitior is out of business? Maybe.

Well, Fiat won't be sending Pistonheads any Christmas card this year :)

Looks ugly in the photo. -
I'm also fairly sure fuel does go off after a period of a few months. If you go for a run to help the ECU re-learn, I would at some point let the car idle and blip the revs to allow it to learn where the stable idle point is.
-
This is all probably in the buyers' guide that's on here, but... if you want a car that will give other cars a run for their money, go for a TT. If you mainly like the look of the supras, you could go for an NA. I have an NA, and I think it's fair to say they look faster than they are. Still pretty quick though. I love them because they don't look like a watered-down version of the TT: it would take a car enthusiast to notice the difference without opening the bonnet.

She's into pain as well as being a dominatrix, is she?

I've done clay pigeon shooting 2 or 3 times. The last time I did it (a year ago) they gave us silenced guns with subsonic cartridges. I've never had any shoulder soreness, even the first time which was a good 10 years ago (less silencing, possibly faster cartridges), although i can understand your concern if she's got an injury. I always lean forwards a bit into the gun. It's good fun. She's lucky to have you as a boyfriend.
