I was crapping myself all the way through the process thinking.... it's going to f*ck up now......now.........definately now lol. However the info above was followed, touch wood no probs (need to nip out and switch the alarm back on, although it still works and the siren still functions....) Also thanks for mentioning the issues, the chap who did my alarms on previous cars was ready and upto the job should we have ran into any bother.

You tube video about them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocmYFYxE2Mw Fwiw, I visited http://www.japperformanceuk.co.uk/ a few weeks before I bought the car I now own. On the phone, I asked about an newly imported Supra TT. Telephone manners were acceptable and gave a reasonable vibe so I said I'd travel from Notts > Bradford that day. The chap/owner was called Shabaz or smethign like that. I asked if I could test drive, what desposit they'd require should I wish to purchase etc. Got there, the car was tatty with minor scuffs around the mirrors, rear bumper, spats and front corners. The car also had a few things that would inicate serious track use. ALL engine & g/box fluids were dangerously low! A test drive was refused unless I put down a desposit. (How can I put down a deposit without a test drive and negotiating a deal?) I honestly believe that Keighly Trade and Jap Performance are closely linked, either brothers or cousins with 2 sites.

Look at the size of the turbo on the MK3 I still think the MK3 is a lovely car, something about Supra's thats never made me get bored of them like other cars including BMW M cars. The Supras look lovely and I admire the way you are keeping the MK3 in good shape.

Update - SORTED!!!! (root cause of problem - faulty coil pack) :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: We did the battery, no probs. Changed the faulty coil pack connect clip - mechanic said it was a doddle but we'll do the rest in 2 weeks for the sake of it. Car still stuttered a bit so I had a smile like a trout. Thanks to Whifbitz for getting the ignition coil to me asap! put that on and the Supra sounded amazing....... fault was the ignition coil obviously. The coil did not show up with the MODUS fancy diagnostics system, so the old method of unplugging the coil pack connector clips is how the coil was traced. Just took the Supra for a run round the block a few times, god its nice to hear it singing and dancing, even the old folks who live around me, a few of them heard me going back and forth around the block several times, and gave me a wave and a smile! The car now feels extremely strong at the bottom end compared to when I bought it! Thanks to everyone for the help and support with all my questions and queries and also all contributors with their technical articles which all came in handy today. Going to order another 5 coils now and do the rest of the 5 coil pack connector clips + coils in about 2 weeks, should make a further noticeable difference I think. :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Welcome, best of luck with your search for a car. FWIW, I travelled the country for over a 1 year, looking at private and trade cars, UK spec and Imports, when I almost gave up, luck was on my side and I got a cracking car from a fellow member. Also search the classifieds section, it may help you.

Contacted a mobile chap who fitted some CAT 1 systems on previous cars for me, great chap never had a falw with his workmanship. He said £45 to remove the alarm or £240 to remove the alarm and whack a new high quality CAT 1 in. So should I need a new alarm etc thats sorted. Mechanic will be here in 30 minutes - my @rse is getting twitchy now and am feeling nervous......

Thing is, in my opinion, to defend yourself, its unrealistic to think if you just slap the offender(s) they will stand down and go away. Usually if you disrupt criminal behaviour, its likely the criminals are going to kick the sh!t out of you as well big time, so realistically you'd have to kick the day lights out of them to save yourself getting severly beaten up and left for dead (in the papers all the time) or stabbed etc. If this was the case, you'd end up before the crown no doubt with a lot of explaining to do because the criminals will want you to be sent down. Only if you have the numbers on your side can you try to hold the criminals whilst you make a citizens arrest.

Thanks for that Jay VR6, a decat is something I'll be looking at in the future.

ah well... just waiting for the mechanic to turn up now, a failure with the alarm system is all i need as this will mean getting a decent repuatbel alrm specialist out to remove the thing and then having to splash out on a new one. Not so bad but the only thing I want is my misfire cured first and foremost.
-
sounds like a job well done. question for the N/A and TT owners - when you decat the cars, what do you do with the 02 sensor as i'd imagine you'd end up with the 02 sensor just hanging with nothing to plug into?
-
love the colour!
-
My alarm etc works fine, its just I now have a dead battery as result of the car being sat in the drive for almost 2 months waiting for a mechanic to come around to help rectify the misfire.

trouble is there is no deterrent for this behaviour is there? lets say for instance, the offenders are identified and caught, what are the police going to do???? I agree that in day and age its hard to intervene for personal safety reasons and also in addition, should you need to defend yourself, you will most likely be the one that gets prosecuted and further more put behind bars

And you thought single turbo supras sounded impressive...

Seen the aircraft documentaries on teh discovery channel, but in the video you can really see how sleek the whole aircfract is - absolute master piece. -
will it show on the for sale item for all to see?

Well I have an 1995 M5 when it was 1 year old, many other M BMW cars and really wanted a Supra TT over a 2001 BMW M5, Jaguar XJR 4.2 etc. The Supra is an astonishing car by modern standards, all I would say is, buy the best example you can ensuring it has a correct history file.

Thank you very much for this, it will help prevent me from messing anything up and avoid further issues as we try to solve the misfire tomorrow!! Many thanks. Hope you don't mind, but I've copied your PM below should it be of use to fellow members in the future if they every find themselves in the same position with regards to a battery change.

The name rang a bell, just refreshed my memory from the link above with the incident involving Jurgen.

Well done, what plans have you got for the money?
-
I did the same a few years back, I drew the line at how I would not be treated despite me always treating her with the upmost care and respect. Once I split, I felt like a huge relief, no more worries or constant downbeat thoughts spinning in my head. Congrats, you know its the right thing to do and I hope in the comming days the way you feel only gets even easier and more relaxing. Take your time, you'll meet someone else soon enough no doubt.

Never been a fan fan of the overall styling on those early GTR's or the interiors but they are a capable motor car. Personally for £4.5K, I'd put in a bit more and get a Supra TT.

The Supra looks good, quite like that colour, it must look dazzling when it out posing in the sun. The wheels look nice too, what are they?

Further to my misfire thread (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=187758), I have a local mechanic comming out to me tomorrow with more h-tech dianostic and scoping kit, plus will be looking to do the coil pack connect clips & coil. He asked me if the car has a fully charged battery - since being off the road, NO. So I told him to get a BOSCH or Toyota one and just bring it with him, I can't be arsed to f*ck about, I need the Supra on the road asap. However, I just went to the car, and even the OE toyota alarm/immobilier fob would not deactivate the alarm system by fashing the indicators. Whilst I can use the key to access the car, I'm concerned the alarm may still go off. I have another small key for the alarm system which you use to overide it under the bonnet (I haven't got a clue about this sort of thing). Tomorrow, when I get the new battery, can I just access the car with the key, flip the bonnet and change the battery? or do any particular steps need to be taken when replacing the battery due to the OE alarm/immob system?
