  1. nice brief introduction .... welcome
  2. That does look like a nice car, if I hadn't got mine some weeks back I'd have been round to look at yours. I'd also say abuot £7k without much hassle, seen sheds sell for this money! Personally I'd have no problems with mileage provide the car's not been abused and looked after. I bought mine with 140K on teh clock but every single itemised invoice, service, consumable and MOT from Toyota. This was far better than many I'd seen at dealers with half the miles.
  3. personally i'd not let the engine oil drop below the minimum marker at least. ANy cars that I have had where they use oil (BMWs), I've always ensure they are near or on the maximum marker on the dipstick.

    Hi All

Welcome. Fwiw, for suspension, personally I'd never buy used suspension, but fair play if you want to get hold of something cheaper. Also take a look at GarageWhifbitz in teh traders section, they do suspensions for the SUpra models.
  5. The likes of the RAC etc can get into the car for you, they usually do when people lock the keys inside the car. Do you not have a key code number written down anywhere in your supra handbooks that you could give to the Toyota dealer to order a new key?
  6. Nicely done, hope you enjoy the trip whilst us lot are stuck here working
  7. I'd have been up for the group buy but I need to get the misfire rectified first and ensure the cars up and running again first. Going to order a coil for the sake of it from Whiftbitz as well tomorrow and a mechanic is comming round Friday afternoon, doing the connector clips, coil on hand incase and then I'll have my fingers crossed its ok.
  8. I'm following this with interest, I'd like a set for my car. Like the fit as shown in JhonnyW's pictures. Let me know how you get on when you get them. BTW, how much are they inc. delivery?
  9. The Legacy is a wise buy, less common, still has the Japanese strenghts and as a result is a smashing car for the money. Fwiw, my Supra is only taken out on rare occasions and I have a daily driver, have you considered an older practical car as a run around? I don't know your financial state, but if you can afford a daily driver there are plenty of good cars like Honda Accord estates, Saab 95 Hot Aero's, Volvo T5 etc available for not a great deal of money for great cars.
  10. Also take a look at the articles listed in the technical section, this may help you get a better idea of maintenance. For me, its been a huge help and at the very least there is information/DIY guides that I can print off for my local mechanic should it be required.

    Hi All

I used to have a MK3 3.0i Turbo auto. Great car, huge spec as you're aware, very reliable, covered 63,000miles in mine and wanted nothing but main services, brakes, tyres. These tended to have a reputation for head gaskets as the gaskets were made from asbestos and I used to recall seeing many Supra's suffering from this when I was looking for mine. Now a days to find a clean car will be harder as I'd say FSH with proof of whats been done is a must, its still a specialist car and needs its regular TLC. I'm not overly convinced in general by the examples that come up on autotrader with patchy history, rust, worn interiors etc. The MK3 Turbo is the one ot go for, still modern enough and a great drive and can also be tuned easily with parts easily available from the likes of Fennsport Toyota Performance parts should you be that way inclined. Test drive the cars for about 30 minutes or so, let the engine idle for a while after a run too, the engines should sound healthy and free from rattles/ticking. Check the condition of the engine coolant, it must have proper Toyota red coolant in there, not water! Don't pay over £1500 for a superb example and many come up advertised at around £700+, just got to take your time and allow the right one to come along...... Oh by now, I'd want to see that the shock absorbers and springs changed due to age/miles, if not budget to have this done to ensure you enjoy a composed fresh feeling chassis.

    Importing a Supra

There are enough manuals that keep popping up, but I'd say contact Jurgen JM Imports first and see what he says and can do for you. As for a auto-manual conversion, you may be able to justify the cost if you find a cracking auto and you are planning to keep the car for a long time.
  16. Jsy_Guy - I know where you are comming from, in the past on my other cars and to date I always run stock OE discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads and have been with them. On my daily driver, BMW 328i I fitted a set of ATE dsics and pads, after 4.5 years the front's are only nearing their service life including the fact that the car is driven quick but not thrashed. Like I said, the Standard OE Toyota brakes are awesome and I cannot fault them. The fact that my Supra is only used for motorway journeys on rare occasions, the wear rate isn't a big issue and just thought about it for an asthetic reason only.
  17. We sell Hankook at just a fraction above budget tyre prices. Never had an personal experience with them and never had any customer complaints of any nature. However, I'd say look at Falken FK452 as the minimum, its a premium performer without the premium price tag, but Falken are upping their prices by around approximately 6% each quater so they are getting more and more expensive, so get them cheap whilst you can!
  18. I take it you mean you are getting a puff or two of blue smoke with a distinct smell of oil under the conditions that you describe? Do you get any smoke on start up in the mornings or after the car has been sat for a few days?
  19. I have stock toyota units at the moment, which I have no issues or complaint with. However, for purely an asthetic reason I'm looking at the 3G items as mine will be due for replacement due to age soon.
  20. thanks for the replies, always nice to hear first hand reviews prior to taking the plunge. good tip about painting the hub area as well, makes sense, the pictures and the dish on the wheels looks nice:cool:
  21. I wonder how many unbder 25's running about in Corsa's etc are uninsured....... Personally I have always owned performance cars from the age of 17 upwards, the first kicking off with an Audi 80 Quattro. Adrain Flux was my insurer between 1997-2005 providing quotes far below the competition for insurance cover. No reason why young folks can't buy something reasonable and get a reasonable quote and cover.
  22. Thats great chaps. I have a UK TT, so UK brakes. The discs are about £265 p/pair so over £500 for a set.
  23. Seems like the correct action has been taken by contacting ebay. Basically this t0sser is charging money for the privellege to be sent an email by a moron..... If someone wants a picture, you just got the forums and ask or go to Google Images
  24. Got to place another order with GarageWhifbitz for a coil for the sake of it on Monday and was considering the 3G brakes they do. I have run a search for this but cannot find anything regarding 3G brakes and I have never heard of this brand before. I'm interested in the following; 3G Ultimate GR 20 Groove discs http://garagewhifbitz.co.uk/components/com_virtuemart/show_image_in_imgtag.php?filename=resized%2F3_G_Ultimate_490ebc8b74551_150x150.jpg&newxsize=150&newysize=75&fileout= 3G Ultimate RS 10 Groove & Slotted Discs http://garagewhifbitz.co.uk/components/com_virtuemart/show_image_in_imgtag.php?filename=resized%2F3_G_Ultimate_490ebbd3d6a7c_150x150.jpg&newxsize=150&newysize=75&fileout= Anyone got any experience of this brand? I'm mainly concerned about the quality and reliability having never heard of the brand, so don't want to waste £500 on something that may leave me with braking issues. Does anyone know what high quality (not outright track day pads) but good road pads like the Ferodo DS2500 (not available for the Supra to my knowledge) are available?
