  1. Also I forgot to add, the turbos were sent away to be tested/rebuilt. Appariantly they were found not to be at fault but were reconditioned anyway as they were off. Also included a full service/ cam belt etc
  2. I didnt pay or get the work done. Previous owner did and I just have the receipts. I did think at the time it may have been cheaper to source a 2nd hand engine. Either way its lasted 17k miles since then.
  3. Nothing beats a stiff wire brush and elbow grease. Just make sure to get all the paint/rust/scale off.

    Mpg???

True, if you count the pennys and work out your MPG every day the supra would probably be a depressing car to run. That said it is useful to calculate the fuel consumption once in ahwile as it can help show up problems or simply help you adjust driving style for a bit more ecconomy.
  5. Just had a look at version 8 and it’s over 45MB! I remember when AVG was about 6MB? I hate how new versions of software inevitably get larger with out really adding any useful features while running slower and slower….
  6. Thats quite cheap for a rebuild... When mine had just the head rebuilt it cost over 2.5k
  7. I love dual screen setups. I have two at work and I used to have a 21" Illyama CRT to go with the 26" TFT but I found my self using the CRT less and less to the point where I decided to just junk it and enjoy the space. We should have a how many/how big are your speakers thread.
  8. I dont have a TV. My pc monitor is 26 inches though.
  9. There was a set of UK leathers floating about on ebay for 400 or so for a few weeks. Dont know if they ever sold or not.

I think some members have had to do engine rebuilds because the oil pump failed and sent bits of metal in to the engine. Also if you are going to all the trouble of a rebuild why risk it with an old oil pump?
  11. Mines up to 167k and runs very well. Original turbos, only major work was a head rebuild at 152k. As long as the car has been serviced regularly the engines seem to go on for ever...
  12. that doesnt soung good. My last set of T1R's lasted over 15k on the rears.
  13. I highly reccomend Chris Wilsons fast road pads. Nice bite and not too much dust. Better then the other "uprated" ones that were on before.

    Naff cars

1993, fiesta DL 1.8 NA diesel. 0-60 in 17 seconds, no power steering, terrible bump steering. Horrible clutch that used to smell of burning simply doing a hill start. Only saving grace was that you could floor it everywhere and still get 65mpg+
  15. I didnt have any V5 or stub. Had to wait for the DVLA to issue one. If the stub is in your name I think you can get tax at the post office.
  16. the stub bit needs to be in your name. I had this exact problem a few months ago. Car was MOTed, insured but was still waiting for the v5. Couldnt get tax.
  17. There is a world outside youtube
  18. HID lights depsite the huge ballast to regulate/raise voltage use less power then conventional incandescent bulbs in most cases.
  19. I had never seen it before.
  20. How could anyone ever use just one sheet? Even the thickest luxuary toilet roll isnt enough. I just yank the roll and scrunch up whatever comes out. 5-10 sheets usually. Then repeat.
  21. I have noticed a few tyre places now have disclaimers on the invoice which says all customers should check and tighten the wheel nuts, or should check after xxx miles.
  22. Is the recovery partition still intact? If not why not just use any old XP setup disk and then download the drivers?
  23. the joke wasnt that offensive....
  24. I found my car was a little low on boost, about 0.61 on turbo 1 and 0.65 on turbo 2. After I replaced my old original cats (167k miles) with a nice shiney new one the boost rasied to 0.74 and 0.82. Still on the standard exhaust and everything. Edit: just saw you posted about having no cats... ignore me.
