  1. My favourite way is to use google. Try: 18 psi in bar 3 miles in furlongs speed of light in km/h
  2. on closer inspection it's actually the didgeridoo
  3. She's very talented. I believe she plays the flute.
  4. It's a bit late to go taking photos but here's mine anyway

    I chose the made-up one
  6. Just out of interest, what does the E-Manage do? Does it output a false rpm signal of just below 6750rpm when the engine speed is between this value and your new limit?
  7. I guess whether it's squished depends on how that monitor handles 4:3 resolutions. Any convertor box that converts composite, RGB or S-video into VGA is going to produce a pretty ropey picture (with the upside that it's easy to get working). The xbox actually provides both component and VGA outputs from its AV connector, although these are only available if you have a modchip or an NTSC model. I've used both outputs and they are pretty good. Very few monitors have component inputs, but for VGA, you might want to try this: http://www.x2vga.com/ As I'm a cheap-skate, I made a VGA box myself from a schematic I found on the web (uses a chip to extract the sync signal) that provides a nice 640x480 picture into my monitor. Sadly it only support sync-on-green monitors though
  8. I'm not sure that's the current regulations (it says June 2002 at the bottom). My local garage has passed my 1994 supra with no cats for three years in a row. But the last time I went, the guy said that next year it would have to be subject to the full cat test. I think this ties in with the new systems all the MOT station are meant to be getting.
  9. Hey Andy, I'd perhaps go for a non-turbo at 21. I got a Supra TT when I was 24 and the step-up in performance from my Celica GT was massive - far greater than I was expecting. Nearly crashed it a couple of times accelerating round corners until I was used to the power and the handling characteristics of rwd! But, only you know how good a driver you are. If you can trust yourself to take it easy until you get used to it, then go for the TT They'll certainly be cheaper in a couple of years. Just noticed you're in Cambridge too. If you haven't been in a Supra and want to know what they are like, I'd happily take you for a ride in mine.
  10. This happens if the ignition is turned on while the top dash section (odo and hazard button) is unplugged. To reset it, try this: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=47563&highlight=airbag+reset
  11. As Imi says, Samsung LCDs are very good for the price. The 26" one that meets your criteria is the LE26R41BD. I have the 32" version of this and it's excellent.
  12. Sometimes it helps to clear the CMOS if it doesn't boot up. Remove the battery and move the CMOS jumper to the clear position for a few seconds. Then put them back and see if it boots.
  13. A few links here as well
  14. drooool. Wish I was there!!!! I wrote the fly-by-wire throttle control for the DBR9
  15. even the most evil amongst us has to wear an xmas hat
  16. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the Labour government introduced this. Certainly can't blame the police for wanting something that could potentially help track down criminals, but the privacy concerns are pretty major. This system would be prone to abuse and it seems likely that innocent people would be open to accusations if their number plates were recognised incorrectly. And, as said earlier, criminals simply need a few number plates with velcro backing every time they go out! Incidentally, I tried some number plate recognition software recently with pictures of my car. It coped fine with reading my small front number plate (about 12" across), but it couldn't read my original full-size number plate correctly - the bolt in the "9" made it recognise it as an "S". I know what I'll be doing to my number plate if this system ever takes off
  17. Well I ordered myself a nice Musical Fidelity hi-fi separate (a DAC) from Hong Kong, which is currently sitting at customs in Heathrow waiting for DHL to get off their fat arses and deliver it. I'm not going to get it until well after xmas now...sob...sob...
  18. I never had (or wanted) an auto before I got the Supra, but I'm very happy with mine. It's worse than a manual in that you can't easily balance the car when going down the gears. Also the gear ratios are very long, which can be a nuisance in slower twisty bits when going between second and third. But other than that, it's very good. You can keep it in a gear with no risk of it changing up or down, and it's way nicer than a manual for most journeys.
  19. Here is the NTL service status page: http://www.ntl-isp.ntl.com/ServiceStatus/
  20. Wouldn't it be easier to leave the windows in place? I'm pretty sure professional places don't remove anything. Taking off the door cards would give you a bit more space if you needed it.
  21. ...at the centre dash, take the second air-vent on the left. After half a yard, you have reached your destination
