  1. Make sure you tell the insurers what you were paying with Tesco. So many companies will give you a rubbish quote but are willing to drop down to price-match someone else. In fact, when I was getting quotes for my Elise the other day, Adrian Flux's quote was 150 quid cheaper than Sky's, but Sky dropped their price to below Adrian Flux so I would go with them.
  2. No, the performance of the turbo is unrelated to car speed. The compromise is fast spooling or big power. Obviously, as technology progresses you will improve both.
  3. SteveO, if cleaning the outside doesn't tidy them up, follow this excellent guide by Supraloopy to refurb them: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=40207 I did this a while ago and my lights look really good now. It's not very difficult and you won't have a problem with condensation provided you take care when putting them back together and use some new sealant.
  4. Most beautiful - Lotus Exige S Ugliest - Who cares? any of the noddy Korean saloons.
  5. I take it you're watching ITV right now! I think the Morgan looks fantastic
  6. I can't think of many either, although Jay Kay springs to mind.
  7. I might agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that he's had so many serious accidents before, is well known for driving like an idiot and has been banned before. And running off from the scene and not stopping to help was very very low. I actually saw him driving around in it a couple of hours before he crashed.
  8. I come from Sheffield but am living in Cambridge now. Most of my family are in Sheffield so I'm up there quite often.
  9. Nope! The kitchen floor is really gritty after taking that pic
  10. Is it just me or does everyone here have a disturbingly large stash of car cleaning products?..... http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/misc/bottles.jpg
  11. I had this problem on my computer the other day and followed the instructions on this web page to get rid of the startup messages: http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/04/workarounds-to-disable-non-genuine.html

  13. If it was stuck with double-sided tape before, how about the same again? Number plate tape is very strong.
  14. 4Mbit will be pretty cool. Thanks for the info. Now, if only they would get a move on with a hi-def TV service!
  15. I didn't think to ask actually, but I assume that would have been replaced when all the other engine work was done. That was only 2000 miles ago. It was a Lotus dealer that carried out the work.
  16. Thanks all. Yeah, I'm really pleased with it now. Drove up to Sheffield last night. It's not that great on the motorway. Deafeningly loud above 80mph and I had a numb bum after about 100 miles! But had a blast around Derbyshire this morning and it is awesome fun. The grip is immense and I've never driven a car with such precise, delicate steering. It has to be driven with the roof off as well The Rover K-series engine is great. Mine has a high-flow exhaust, gas-flowed and ported VVC head, fast road cams, 4-2-1 manifold, vernier pulleys, VVC inlet manifold, 52mm throttle body and hurricane induction kit. It's 165bhp.
  17. Thanks! It's as well as the Supra - though when I eventually sell the Supra I may well buy something very cheap. I don't know yet if I can live with the Elise as a daily driver.
  18. Well I picked up my S1 Lotus Elise this evening! It's completely mental to drive. Most of the cars I've owned have been Japanese and this thing feels completely different. The throttle response is amazing and you can feel every bump on the road. It has a high-flow exhaust and is much much louder inside the car than my supra (with NurSpec R). If I remove the cat it will be even louder but I'd prefer to retain some hearing The brakes will take a lot of getting used to. They don't have any servo assistance, and you have to press them really hard for them to work (especially at low speed). I've just been out for a blast and locked them up appoaching a turn, so I definitely need to get the feel for them! Here's a pic: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/images/75484-1.jpg
  19. Will do. It felt very lively on the test drive. Not as fast as my BPU supra but I bet it would give a stock supra a run for its money up to 100mph. Handling was light and immediate as you would expect. Not sure about the brakes yet. They don't have a lot of assistance so I wasn't that impressed with them at first. But I did manage to lock the wheels under braking (no ABS). If you want a track day car you should buy my 200SX
  20. MGF - It's a Rover K series engine. Mine has a VVC gas flowed and ported head
  21. ya bunch o bastards I'll have you know i'm 5'8". And it's not like it's an MX5 hairdresser's car
  22. After nearly four years of Supra ownership I've decided it was time for a new car. I'll be pushing my Supra off the nearest cliff to go down in a blaze of glory ...only kidding. The Supra is waaaay too good to ever sell. But the bit about getting a new car is true. I'm due to pick up a lovely S1 Lotus Elise this week. It's a deep metallic purple colour and has had extensive engine mods to bring it up to 165bhp. This means my Nissan 200SX S13 will be up for sale shortly. I'll post some pics and a description soon. I bought it off Aerotop Dave, so it would be nice to keep it in the mkivsupra club if anyway is interested! It's got a rollcage and adjustable coilovers so would make someone a good trackday car.
  23. I used to think the same thing, but now I'm not so sure. These things are very labour intensive, and you don't want to economise on your wiring! I work for a company that also makes motorsport looms. They are very expensive, but very high quality. I actually tried making something similar recently and it took me a lot longer than expected and looked well ropey once I'd finished
  24. Funny, but a bit obvious since I guess most people have seen that kettle one that went round a few years ago. I'm calling photoshop on that pic anyway
