My alternator went pop on the dyno at about 8000 rpm. I've replaced it with a brand new alternator from SRD. I've a feeling that my alternator letting go has damaged the battery and eventually it's just gave up today. - - - Updated - - - No, there sealed so you can mount them anywhere but they have battery acid in them like all other batteries.

Hi guys Has any of you had any experience with optima battery's failings. I've just got home from having a blast out in the supra and noticed the top of my amps were a little wet, so I checked around the battery and sure enough the top seal has burst. Now this is the 3nd optima battery I've had fail on me in about 5 years over my 2 supras. 2 red tops and a yellow top now. 2 have burst there too seal and the other just packed up. Has anyone had 1 of these fail on them also?

I've just ordered a steering wheel mount for my iPhone, so I can do some speedo recording, when I'm on a private drag strip or very long Fast 6 style runway.

No it will only have 1. I'm not a tidally sure what the other connector is for, odviously something to do with the gearbox. If you havnt got the other one (it's a single wire sound plug) don't sweat it, it will still work fine.

My money is on coilpack connectors or a split vac pipe.

Your right Chris, but only an auto has 2 connectors, a manual has the above connector. It's for your speed assisted power steering. The faster you go, the stiffer your steering gets, this is just a signal wire from the ECU.

I have to agree, that's by far the best engine bad (of any car) I've ever seen. Simply outstanding. Can't think of any other words for it really.

Alternator arrived today, super fast service from SRD. I paid for it, late Tuesday night, they sent it out yesterday and it arrived today. Can't say fairer than that, cheers guys. I'm going to take it to work tonight to try and crack the pulleys of the new and old ones and swap them over. Although the SRD alternstor comes with a billet pulley, all the rest of my pulleys are Greddy and I do t thi k my OCD could deal with 1 Being odd. All Being well ill get it refitted at 5.30am when I get in from work. Will only take me 5mins cos I've got nothing cluttering in the way lol. Pleasures of having a tucked engine bay haha.

Good news, Spoke to Lee today and ordered 1 of his 160 amp alternators. He can also have it to me for the weekend too. Weathers got to be nice so I can go have some fun. I've not drove it since I got back from the dyno.
