  1. Mine is 500 rwhp single, running Titan auto box with a 3800 rpm Titan hi stall. I love it to be honest. It's excessively rapid and easy to drive. .
  2. Indeed. I don't think selling mine will be the end of my Supra ownership though as theres not many cars I have owned with the same character (to me anyway). Regards prices falling, unlikely I think because even some long termers selling up still wouldn't exactly be flooding the market. My guess is these cars will continue to rise steadily in value but also in ownership costs and ownership demands. Will just mean a different kind of owner I guess.
  3. My usual benchmark is 'was the traffic flow moving around the same speed' or was I the loner!!!
  4. I've made the same mistake on a similarly equipped motorway a while back. On autopilot in tthe supra and just realised I had blasted through a few... Heard nothing after the waiting period so my belief is they are not all always working; sometimes there will be downtime or even dummy cameras and they will never divulge which scenario as people just tend to obey them. So I would expect one ticket at worst to be honest, but then Im an optimist Just in case this is a useful place for advice, http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=5
  5. Same here, but I think mines going to be on the market once I have finished a full brake system refurb/rebuild and got a fresh MOT. A new business, lack of time due to family and work hours and lack of time driving it are all contributing factors sadly. Will probably regret it in a few years when prices have gone up even more but I never owned it as an investment (good job really with the time and money spent on it lol)
  6. Nasty story, sounds mega stressful mate!. Hope you get it sorted . Maybe Chris Wilson is the man to sort the engine issues out if you are needing it assessing? I would not be paying ANY final invoice. Certainly needs a professional opinion then you can have enough ammo to dispute any further payments due to XY and Z
  7. Unsure on this at present. Discovered a sticking brake caliper after the car had been garaged for a while and I did a pre MOT checkover of the car; so ended up taking the car off the road, full brake system refurb and some other upgrades seeing as I was having to do that. will make it if I can get the car back on the road in time. Will update! But its a no from me at present unfortunately for that date.
  8. Cheers! Will try them next time. Didn't get a great deal from Steve last time tbo..
  9. Yeah, can probably be got cheaper , my local dealer does no discount though.. so I tend to use Steve Manley.
  10. £400 each http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/toyota/supra/brake-parts/toyota-parts/toyota-1078.html
  11. Not really. Looking at the spec its not a bad price at all when the tranny could be sorted easily for under £2k .
  12. I would just get a second hand good engine and be done with it. You could end up balls deep in expenditure and still have problems down the line. It's hard to know without knowing where you have taken the car, but a 'generic' rally man doesn't mean that he knows the ins and outs of Supras to a full engine rebuild level. I would either get the engine shipped to a specialist engine rebuilder like Stanwood Engineering in Doncaster (who really know their onions as I have used them on several occasions) or buy a used engine and get it serviced and stick it in and run it. Sounds like your already committed with the current route though. You could always get a used engine and get it delivered to the shop, would probably be cheaper and you could then sell your current 'black death' engine for spare or repair to recoup some cost.
  13. Awesome job mate. I have done bits before on other cars and really enjoyed it. Quite therapeutic (in small doses lol). Look forward to seeing the colour go on.
  14. Looks a great car! What wheels are those? Are they Advan Siena Gen 2?? Engine bay looks mint!
  15. As parts become less available while demand also rises, Prices increase. It's simple maths.
  16. No they dont, maybe a few years ago. £200 is more than fair. The supply of cars is very limited, the supply of parts is even more limited. Finding a good used stock ECU will become harder and harder as more and more of them fail due to age.
  17. Tough crowd on here! Welcome to the forum, car looks nice, always good to see something a bit different even if it's not to everyones taste.
  18. I still haven't got around to doing mine or making a guide unfortunately. I do recall that the capacitors are a very specific model and type though, maybe the incorrect one was used, or there is a referred fault causing a repeated failure.
  19. Nightmare! Hope you get it sorted. Curious to know what happened with the paint shop? Sounds like terrible customer service.
  20. I used these guys and they were first class Deepcar autobodies . They definately do full resprays because they did mine! They are Sheffield based though so quite a trek for you. Pricewise they were very reasonable for the work done, quality of work is superb as can be seen from some of the showcars on their facebook page.
  21. The 1zz. Coils are excellent. I run a modest 500 rwhp with them but they have been tested to 150 hp per coil levels without issue. If you get the right ones the cam cover closes as normal.
  22. I cant measure mine until the weekend but can check for you then. If I recall correctly you dont want ones with a non threaded shaft as they need to tighten tightly from the engine stand to the casing. iirc you can use an old set of 2jz head bolts as they are the 12mm x 1.25 pitch from memory. The bolts need to be about 90mm long but that depends on your engine stand spider cradle bit (the depth of the bolt tubes) .
  23. Someone familiar with supra engines is very useful for internal rebuilds. Granted, they are only straight sixes but familiarity with them can save you money... I have taken cars around the country on a flatbed for remaps, resprays etc, or had them collected on flatbed!
