    Jaw dropping Merc

Probably will need a full respray too.. That thing is fugly, unbelievable.
  4. Water pump is a likely suspect imo. I would do as you said, and see where you are at.
  5. If he could carry the thing on his own, I would let him have it!!!
  6. Like chris wilson says, the basics are worth close scrutiny. For example, how have you checked your fuel pressure when under load? An oscillascope and someone who knows how to use it properly can tell a lot about ignition etc Might be worth booking it in on a dyno with someone who knows their stuff to try and find the issue. Faults like that can be a real pain to identify when it is happening under load. Failing that, emanage log files may help
  7. Open it up firstly and a visual check for capacitor failure/leakage. Next step would be taking it to someone reputable to have them replaced. I dont know if it could cause this issue but it is without doubt a suspect imo. Depends on how the emanage piggybacks it and what controls what
  8. Seems like some kind of limiter to me rather than a misfire. Like Wez says, seems coincidental at 1.2 bar.. I would first look at the emanage then the stock ECU to see if it is playing up...
  9. There was nothing visible on mine either. I'm guessing it was internal breakdown and hadn't got to the stage of complete meltage.
  10. get the capacitors replaced. Driftmotion offer a service for this but its in the US. https://www.driftmotion.com/2JZ-ECU-Cap-Service-p/dm2861.htm I am thinking of selling my car due to time constraints and not getting to drive it much at all but I am going to replace the caps on a spare ECU regardless and will post up a guide of what I used.
  11. Result There should be a new sticky thread, 'Is your autobox misbehaving? overdrive issues? incorrect gear selection?' replace the ECU first!. I recall getting to the bottom of mine was like a month long childbirth. Nearly went manual!
  12. Pretty sure I had fault code 89 Gaz... May be worth opening your ECU and seeing if you can visually spot anything up with the capacitors. However mine looked ok but were not..!
  13. The flow charts don't account for the 20 plus year old age of the parts now though! The ECU should be moved near the top of the list IMO, even one of the ones I bought as a replacement was faulty, but with different behavior. Let us know how it goes, hopefully that will solve it but if not, fault codes like you say.
  14. That post could apply equally to scooter and the OP! Would be the first thing I would replace anyway, as we spent a long time to get to that point..!
  15. Sounds like the auto ecu to me. I had some bizarre stuff happening after we had finished rebuilding my car, like I couldn’t use manu mode and flashing Od lights for no reason. Did you pull the fault codes from the auto box? I can dig out the thread where Im sure I posted up more info but after going through the entire car and even replacing the box with a new titan race one, it was the auto ecu at fault. Leaky capacitors iirc is common for these ecus now they are 20 plus years old. There is a guide on replacing them somewhere to prevent issues on known working ecus also. But new ecu totally sorted the weird behaviour
  16. Still very harsh indeed considering some of the recent other far worse cases in the news that have only got a couple of years.
  17. Would have had that for a project. too slow!
  18. Not sure how that could work, as I thought quickconnects were designed to interlock to the male/female other side quick connect?https://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/dry-break-connectors/jiffy-tite-quick-connect-dry-break-fittings-2 Either way, it wouldnt work with that rib, the best bet would be to get an engineering shop to remove the nipple, drill out the hole a little and weld in an AN fitting, something like this possibly https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-3-4-UNF-AN8-08-FEMALE-Aluminium-Weld-Fitting-Round-Base-/362001905056?clk_rvr_id=1476829822506&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=twenga&utm_campaign=twenga&utm_param=eyJlcyI6MCwicyI6OTcyMDIzNywiY2kiOiIwMzM0ZGYyZGI2Y2NjZGEyZTk4OTFlOWM2ZDU2MzJiZSIsImkiOiIzNjIwMDE5MDUwNTYiLCJ0cyI6MTUyMTg5ODkxMiwidiI6Mywic28iOjE1MDAsImMiOjEwNzA2M30%3D&rmvSB=true
  19. Wow, fast sale. Who ended up buying it?
  20. Mint. Please post up a full thread on that. Will be most interesting to see.
  21. Links work ok for me, I would suggest the small cost could be a wise investment as theres a lot of good info there. I think its £10 for a year>?
