right cheers, this is what I wanted to know really, not a job for diy then unless you have the right tools including a big press. You think a reasonable local garage could do it or I'd be best taking it to a specialist only?
-
ok thanks I think you're right in that it's made it worse, but I did feel play in the front nearside when jacked up so I think it needs doing anyway unfortunately
-
hmmm been getting a bit of steering wheel wobble recently and actually worse after getting new tyres fitted, although they were balanced at the same time maybe the balancing was not spot on. anyway, did front pads the other day and noticed a tad of play with the wheel up in the air, not tons and tons but definitely some all the same. so, suspect the front near side wheel bearing has gone/is going. how bad is this job? special tools needed? how much would I expect to pay a garage? specialist job really or a competent garage could be trusted with? if a specialist is needed who'd I be best to take it to locally (Sussex or surrounding areas incuding London) cheers

how would a 500bhp supra fair against a 330bhp civic?
chilli replied to mathew's topic in Supra Chat
I don't think this is fair or relevant, if you ever see under the bonnet of a touring car you will notice that the engine is in non-standard position, as low and far back as physically possible to maximise handing and grip (minimise the c of g) hardly fair to compare such extreme mods to an essential stock car with a bigger turbo slapped on it, a fairer equivalent would be the rwd supergt cars and they are considerably faster again than fwd touring cars PS: with al this stripped out civic stuff, so fairs fair, how quick woud a stripped out bpu supra be then I wonder, quicker than a 500bhp single at full weight? -

that sort of power through fwd is going to be a nightmare at the best of times. ok so the civic weighs f-all, but that's not much help when the one time that helps you (at lower speeds) the thing can't put the power down. anyway, all a bit academic, but if you arrange the challenge for real can I place I bet please (on the supra ) -
just put a new set of re050-A's on mine, not had a chance to drive it properly with them on yet but I'm hoping it's going to be good how much does 4wheel alignment cost approximately then? might get mine checked and adjusted too to get the most out of the new tyres
-
I think it's been explained as ok hasn't it? sounds like basically when cold the level is at it's lowest and will be near the min mark. Only reaching the max mark when the engine is full hot and the coolant has expanded. filling the expansion right up when cold means the excess just comes out (onto road usually via an overflow pipe?) as the engine heats up and the coolant expands so I think it's all ok, sounds like it's working like mine does just keep an eye on it for a while, never hurts to be safe

this happened to us about 3 years ago, turns out we were not covered and the pipework was original from when the house was made! Ended up doing it ourselves, was damn hard work (was under the whole length of the concrete driveway and under the whole length of the house too!) but was able to replace the whole pipe with proper modern blue piping from the road to the copper house pipping in the kitchen. Should be trouble free for a long time to come now. would have cost serious £ to get it done professionally, as it happened it cost about £50 for bits and lots of hard work.

ok I'll check that model out, I've just seen that the v630i is vodaphone exclusive so unlocking it might not be easy/possible anyway regarding the dash, think you're thinking of someone else, not me dude although £50 sounds reasonable I'd pay that or do it myself It's a good idea, the snag being there is a long way to go on the contract and the phone is just about dead, so I need one now not in the future... I'm talking
-
My old phone is about dead, so i need a replacement soon. Really not into phones at all but I'd rather get something half decent for a good price. I'm on orange but when the contract runs out I'd probably like to go payg, so unlocked would be ideal (or one on orange to start with that I can get unlocked when I need to). I've seen the Sony-Ericson v630i (on Vodaphone) which looks good and gets great reviews for £69.99, which is good value for money but it would appear it can't be unlocked at the moment, is that true? Anyone have any other suggestions? Don't really care that much for features but ease of use is something I'd care about a bit. any thoughts anyone?

hey, good news!!! sounds like you owe CW a beer lol when I first got my car I had that bubbling for a while on switch off and I never new what it was until a search on hear revealed the very same thing, a duff rad cap was the fault. I, like you am very grateful that it was found and sorted in time before any damage was done

I guess as a generalisation the supra is not a chavs car at all but a chav can own anything, so there will always be exceptions. After all, I don't think maybe of us on here could be described as chavs, if any and this must be the biggest supra forum in the uk? (or are we all chavs really and just in denial or good at hiding it? lol - joking!)
-
lol well good luck with it anyway I'm sure it will be fine, a fairly big company the departments will probably differ somewhat.
-
Congratulations Atkins, OMG I can tell you a thing or two about them lol (not good things) Probably the worst company I've worked for, really hope your division is different!!!
-
well just because the prices have fallen doesn't make it a chav car does it? Some models might be affordable to some chavs, but so are many cars, so are they all chav motors too? I've not heard that said personally but at the end of the day it's just jealousy so who cares anyway maybe some dog of a supra, run into the ground and with tasteless and detracting mods would make a chavs car, but there aren't many of those around are there? Those types of car/owners are very much the minority. Most supra owners are enthusiasts who look after the car with highest levels of care and attention and have higher than average levels of knowledge about their cars - hardly a typical chav or chav car me thinks

hmmmm good question, I ask myself this every so often and it's a tough one! Porches do little for me. Well engineered cars but 2 a penny on the road, they've lost a lot of their 'specialness' for me. Ferrari, lovely cars but realistically I couldn't afford to run one even if I did afford to buy a cheaper model. C5 does nowt for me The Monaro vxr is quite a car, but it's not my sort of car I think Skylines, nope again there is nothing so special there, unless maybe it was an amazingly modded version, but then I think they are overpriced for what you actually get. I could enjoy the Exige, especially if it had an engine conversion. I'd love an Ultima but realistically that's a few years away yet. Radical is too track only for me (even more than the Ultima!) So, what does that leave at the moment? A newer supra lol. Manual, full bodykit, nice wheels, nice medium single setup and sorted handling/breaking

Looks good, much better to have clean tidy calipers than old tired looking ones. I need to do mine at some point, any links to the suitable paint? Is it an enamal based paint that can take the temperatures? My only suggestion would be to not to use a TRD sticker/decal and go for something like "supra" or maybe even no logo, only a suggestion, still looks good. Just that people in 'the know' are always going to pipe up with 'those aren't trd... yada yada' although with some trd pads maybe it's acceptable

very well done, I struggled to get my set of 4 new tyres in there to go to the garage, I could only get 1 in the boot area as they are so wide, so I had to put two on the back seat and one on the passenger seat. Still not bad though van, who needs a van

hmmm interesting. Apart from horrible things like illness / death etc I guess: The supras back end in the wet (yikes it's given me a fear once or twice, mainly when I first got it lol) I have a thing about moths and other things that fly at you relentlessly Also slugs too Earwigs and cockroaches (yuck) Pikeys Hights, i.e up a ladder (fine really high up, like on a plane or up a tall building etc) Overactive big dogs, like a friends Doberman that used to get scary then later I learned it had to be put down after going for the owner :o Aliens and alien invasion The vast expanse of the universe Crackpot cult and religious people like Scientologists et al I've been creeped out by attics and cellars etc and graveyards at night but that was all part of an overactive imagination that has faded since I was a kid lol I'm also much better with moths and slugs now, even though they are disgusting! apart from that I'm perfectly normal and I ain't scared of nothing me

I've known a few people on other forums to have had them explode all over their walls because they ferment if left out of the fridge. They explode enough to go all over the ceiling, but if you email them, they send you a whole crate of them. Might be worth some research... I wouldn't, or I would have done it by now, lol.

Wanted! Front J-Spec' Brake Pads and Spare Petrol Tank, Please.
chilli replied to a topic in Parts Wanted
http://www.fensport.com do some good prices on pads, I've just ordered some trd ones myself -
yeah thanks, that's what I was thinking, to use it other than for getting to from a fixed place of work requires something additional on the policy, thanks

Just a quick one, are you generally insured to use your own car to get to a one off destination for work purposes? I.e. to visit a customer or hold a meeting? I know most insurance says "to a permanent place of work" but what about ad-hoc journeys...
