Interesting read Trev I do vaguely remember hearing about it but it's so counter intuitive I think I'd since kinda dismissed it. Notice though it's only under very specific conditions, not a general case (the vast majority of cases will behave as expected). Still odd all the same and as yet not fully explained, I feel some shed experiments coming on lol
-
surely that's not true? an old wives tale? I've also learnt that the mkivsupra.net forum is an excellent place to procrastinate both when at work and when at home (but maybe I knew that already)
-
not to mention it's a touch hot in there too

How about Bridgestone RE050A - Asymmetrical - as fitted to Enzos etc. Fantastic grip in the dry but still with good grip in the wet so you won't die. Reasonable tyre life (so I understand) and a worthy successor to the legendary S01 Pole positions etc - oh and affordable so good vfm too Reckoned to be much better than the gsd3s according to reviews and feedback I've come across

seriously? what do you do for a living, pub quiz creator? lol related to 7. though, did you know the moon doesn't change size in the sky (visually, obviously it doesn't physically) - it's actually all an optical illusion - a tiny moon or a big orange summer moon, same size exactly!

I learnt all about creating secret keys and self signing certificates for a development SSL connection. Configuring Apache to front the SSL for a j2ee webapp on Tomcat, connected via apache jk connector and finally to install the created certificate in the java security keystore and load it into the securuty subsystem such that the client could authenticate and establish connection with the server. best thing, it all worked other than that I learned my next door neighbour appears to be doing well not down to hard work and shrewd business sense, but because his mother one the lottery a while back - something I was never aware of not that it matters, but that's a good bit of gossip for people that way inclined lol

nice one j-spec brakes can work ok can't they. I was desperate to put uk spec ones asap and even have callipers in the shed but after fitting some trd pads recently they are more than good enough for the moment. I probably still will do the upgrade sometime but it's less than urgent now

MIME is just a way of saying how the content is encoded, there are many types - the mime setting should match the data so for example an email might contain html and be text/html mime so that when the email client reads it, it knows what to do with the data and how to display it

yeah that's possible, you'd expect to be able to hear it though - unless you've got a loud exhaust already and it's masking the noise? maybe try driving it as gently as possible, using low revs and min throttle and stop off after 10 mins or so and check it's ok, if the temps aren't so bad then I'd probably continue, cruising along A roads at 50-60mph should get good air flow and keep temperatures half sensible
-
hmmm sounds a bit fishy, if he suddenly did it back up again. Sounds like under load there is a leak causing hot exhaust gas to escape - you often here this as some sort of strange ticking sounds as you put your foot down. best take it back to the garage and tell them they've messed it up (I take it your engine temperature reads normal still?)
-
yeah, know what you mean but I'm only half awake like a walking zombie so I think another hour of shut eye won't go amiss

lol I'm up and on here too! but I fancied a coffee (and I've fed the cat), might go back to bed in a moment as it's the weekend and I fancy a lay-in lol

ok well TRD pads get the thumbs up from me, getting better bite now. They can be had from fensport for quite reasonable prices (they also sell the uk ones too should you need them) I think I might try braided front hoses next, look really easy to replace diy and a cheap improvement to make, good time to flush the fluid through and replace too
-
that's so bad it made me laugh, maybe I've had too many beers lol keeping out of the actual issue, too heavy for me right now
-
although upgraded brakes are most likely in the pipeline for me, I was surprised that j-spec brakes really arn't that bad when I put new TRD pads in. I think the main problem is fade, I've not had that with the new pads yet so it will do for now. sorry it's not quite what you're asking but if you want to put the upgrade off for a while you might get similar improvements with new pads and fluid and stuff until you're ready for the additional outlay must add it probably depends how you drive too

I can only assume it was the time/speed lost before the supra spooled and got going that made it almost impossible to regain - would have thought the mapping will sort that even if the bhp doesn't change (still at 0.8bar) bearing in mind that I had a go with one of these a while back (no single, just bpu) and although from this thread you may not believe it, I gained on him and even got along side and waved before running out of road and taking the safe option of backing off. Gods honest truth that, and yes he was going for it because he virtually goaded me into it! lol Guess peak bhp is not the whole story and responsiveness / pick up and power/torque through the rev range is important reckon a bit of mapping and jevansio's supra will kill the 996 dead in water in a relatively straight line, then it's time to work on the brakes and handling
-
oh that also reminds me, if there are any going spare i also need just 1 or 2 as I dropped down in the engine bay never to been seen again and my headlight is also fogging up (needs a clean again now doh) sorry for hijack, just in case someone has a stash of them
-
wow excellent write up and very objective and unbiased! nice one! I guess nothing you mention surprises me except that you fell behind in the straight line race in 3rd but I bet with proper mapping, even at 0.8 bar still it would be a different story - once you get behind it really is very hard to catch back up again. I guess comparing stock vs highly modified is unfair (maybe) but then so is comparing 10-15k car to nearly 100k (buy a small flat for that!) I guess if you had 90k to spend in total, on the one hand you could have the porsche, on the other you could have 2 highly modded supras, one capable of silly straight line speeds, one build for racing around the corners (or maybe one that does both), a car for fun (Lotus Exige or Caterham or something) and still have a nice holiday in the sun actually I'd probably by an Ult GTR 720 and destory you all can't wait until you've done the rest of the work and report back on your findings, you really will have an animal on your hands then

I've heard nothing good about Vista, but lots of bad. I know several people who've decided to uninstall it and go back to XP. I'd avoid it unless it has some feature you actually _need_ otherwise its just an OS and you don't need any unnecessary hassle from it, so why bother
-
thanks, I believe her plus there were straight line scratch across the alloy wheel too (can't do then when you're moving). This is the person must have started to scrape along it and thought, f*ck it, I've started so I might as well carry on now... a-holes! no cctv apparently in that car park guess we just swallow the cost to fix it, won;t be an insurance job, not worth it. some people are scum!
-
My other half bought a brand new car 2 months ago and she's been dead careful not to mark it, not a single kerb mark on the wheels etc. she comes home today upset, someone has driven into it while it was parked in the car-park and scraped up the side of the rear quarter/wheel arch I've done my best to clean it up, it looks a lot better now but really it needs a body shop as there is still a dent there in the wheel arch. It's not even done 2000 miles! FFS why do C*nts do this, I'd seriously give someone a kickin if I saw them do this but odds on it was some dodery oap who shouldn't even be driving or something. grrrr damn this sort of thing makes me cross. Ok so we all make mistakes, where's the note with details on it that any decent person should leave at the very least. anyone got any ideas where it should be taken to get it sorted and how much it might cost?
-
that's typically what I get too but you can't assume you're insured if you've not received anything from them, at the least they'd do is send you new policy documents once it was automatically renewed.
-
what a load of old tosh, you're FIRED!
-
ahhh that would be fantastic, to see someone write a blank cheque to build a track racing supra
-
yes, when they showed more his answers were really good yeah! funny that bit. Humble pie although she seemed to shrug it off as unimportant and showbiz, but the audience didn't like her - don't think she's got many fans left now (except DaveK!)
