  1. So just what Thorin was telling you all along then..... Sheesh...
  2. You don't say whether or not you're after an NA or a TT but with that budget I'm going to assume a TT. However, is an NA an option? Use the money to source a spanking example and have some left over to either do some mods on the car to your taste or to keep in reserve for running costs. Yes, the fuel costs might not be hugely different, but a TT opens up a whole new world of parts that could go wrong, need servicing etc. - ie running costs can be considerably higher. Just my twopenneth worth...
  3. I haven't had it done but I would assume his concerns are down to it being a 'flexible' body part. The sort of rubberish material it is made from is to allow some degree of movement - too much movement would (I imagine) crack either the paint or the lacquer or both.
  4. Just be aware though, that although they are the designated club insurer its not a case of 'one size fits all'. Lets just say that for a lot of members on here Sky have been way off the mark - at the end of the day each is case is individual.
  5. Oh - forgot to add thats with an annual mileage of 14k including business use of 3k per year. And wor lass on as a named driver - which i think brings it down a little.

    Gnomes

None personally, but my neighbour has some along with other garden odditites - eg. squirrels pushing wheelbarrows etc. Worst ones are the skulls that she has sitting on top of poles...
  7. 32yrs old, 3 pts, 5yrs NCD, All mods declared... £513 on an NA with Sky Insurance. Personally didn't think it was too bad given no experience of a performance car prior to this (only 1.4 Golfs and Clios!)
  8. VS still not floating my boat but can't take anything away from that paint job and rear - Really looks the puppy's privates.

    Burning to DVD

Need some suggestions as to what might be wrong... Some one at work has been getting her lad to do me a copy of a film he downloaded on his home PC (Just American Gangster before anyone suggests otherwise!) Anyhow, I gave him a blank DVD-R but have just tried playing it on my Panasonic player (which I know will recognise the DVD-R format) and nothing happens. I get a message saying disc not recognised.... I have used the same discs for other stuff and they work fine. Could it be because of the actual file format? It's saved as an .avi file. Also he used windows vista - some have suggested that vista might be causing the problems. Any ideas?
  14. It's always distressing to hear of such tragedy, but this being local seems to have impacted harder than usual and I didn't even know him! It seems that Darren and his family are just along the road from me (I live in Swalwell). At the minute I feel as if I've been cheated of the opportunity to get to know a fellow enthusiast that seemed like a really canny lad.....God only knows how his family and friends must feel. This sort of tragic accident should never happen to anyone in their lifetime, but especially not at this time of year...my deepest condolences go out to all that knew Darren and I can only hope that this loss of a young, enthusiastic owner can help serve as a timely reminder to the rest of us. I for one, am constantly reminded of the dangers of the roads/weather everytime I pass through the Team Valley and see the ever present floral tributes to Karl, who also left us so prematurely. Rest in peace Darren and Mitch.
  15. Driver's side wing mirror if they're the standard folding ones - could you pm me a price please? Cheers
  16. Have you got the roller blind for the boot mate?
  17. Ignore my PM mate - have just realised I read the thread wrong. Its just the boot plastics you've get yeah?
  18. Hi mate - do you have the boot blind? If so, how much posted? Cheers
  19. Yeah, that looks pretty neat. The various aluminium rings on the group buys at the minute would set that off really well.

    decat mot

Not necessarily - depends on the garage really. Had the MOT done on my decatted NA and passed with flying colours!
  21. Yeah, lets try and get one in pre-xmas and it'll give me a chance to have a wee listen to your exhaust too Hodge.

  23. Apologies for the thread hijack, but what wheels are they on your car?
