The Idea I’ve been thinking about sorting out a club meet in the North East for a little while now as other than the usual Jap North East on a monthly basis, its been a canny while since local supra owners met up. Unfortunately, it has taken the tragic news of Lewis’ death a little over a week and a half ago to spur me on and get this sorted. The idea is to have this drive in memory of Lewis but with the emphasis on celebrating the car that he was so nuts about and that unites us all in this club. The overwhelming response in the thread that brought us the bad news is typical of the club spirit (most of the time ) and I hope that as many of you as possible can attend this and make it a day to remember. The Drive I’ve sorted out a route (test drove it last Saturday) that takes in arguably some of the finest coastline in the UK (Northumberland) before swinging inland from Bamburgh to Wooler, then skirts the Simonside hills down to Rothbury and the Cheviots before bringing you back into Tyneside. The majority of the roads are ‘National Speed Limit’ but there are some villages to pass through on the way up the coastal stretch. However, the inland route takes in some long, straight roads with excellent visibility . At this point I would like to remind everyone though, the reasons behind this day – no more accidents would be preferable! The Details Overall the route is approximately 140 miles. There are 2 initial meet-up points; one South of the Tyne and one North of the Tyne (see below). As a nice little bonus, those meeting in the South will get to drive through the Tyne tunnel – with windows down of course! [GRIN][/GRIN] Rough itinerary is: 09.30 – 10.00am Meet at Durham Services (northbound A1, Jct 61) 10.30 – 11.00am ALL to Meet in ASDA car park (Whitley Road, Benton) 11.00am Depart onto indicated route and convoy as much as possible up to Bamburgh (eta 12’ish), meeting in the big car park on the left opposite the castle (you can’t miss it!) Lunch – either bring some bait or go to a pub 2.00pm – Depart Bamburgh for drive home as per route. 3.30pm Onwards - meet at Keelman’s Lodge. I’ve attached a link to Google Maps that shows the route. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=12704879073123587004,55.022489,-1.516854%3B8228105693033982542,55.343171,-1.605366%3B9728221906034828689,55.556990,-1.640170%3B11942914642729539138,55.605060,-1.701150%3B1835957636995404588,55.597270,-1.828280%3B6270497390806273187,55.548250,-2.008280&saddr=DH6+5NP&daddr=A19+%4055.022489,+-1.516854+to:A1068+%4055.343171,+-1.605366+to:B1340+%4055.556990,+-1.640170+to:B1340%2FLinks+Rd+%4055.605060,+-1.701150+to:B6349%2FHigh+St+%4055.597270,+-1.828280+to:B6348+%4055.548250,+-2.008280+to:55.130612,-1.94252+to:NE15+8NL&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=7&sz=11&via=1,2,3,4,5,6,7&sll=55.229415,-1.750946&sspn=0.265887,0.593262&ie=UTF8&ll=55.155336,-1.697388&spn=1.065529,2.373047&z=9 You could also buy an OS Travel Map (Tour 14 – Northumberland) for only £4.99 (http://leisure.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/leisure/ItemDetails.jsp?item=os_touring_14) Additionally, I hope to be scanning some map images that I shall upload onto here later this week. Needless to say, there are some cracking spots for potential photos but its obviously up to you if wish to leave the group and catch up at Bamburgh or whatever…. Also, if the weather is good there are some good spots we can stop for Fish & Chips, Ice Cream etc... For those from outside of the area that want to come and need somewhere to stay, please see attached word doc. with suggested accommodation. This is your responsibility to book! Finally, please add your name to the list if you can make this so I can get a rough idea of numbers. Accomodation_List.doc

I had the baffle in on mine but both cats were out so obviously this did increase the noise.
-
Hi mate - welcome to the club.
-
If thats the quality of your first effort mate, I'd definitely buy a DV Cam and take it up a notch - you've got a talent there!
-
If these were 275's I think they would have been snapped up by now at that price. 295's are more of a niche market I fear... someone will take em though - good luck with the sale.
-
Hi and welcome. Love your car! Where in Sweden are you?
-
Yep - as has been said, we couldn't even get into the building there was such a good turn out. Very poignant choice of music I thought: Pink Floyd - Wish you were here, Eric Claption, tears from heaven and Maximo Park - my velocity. All seemed to sum up different parts of a young man's short life...

Haven't had it on a RR or anything but there wasn't anything particularly noticable. The diameter of the pipes are slightly smaller than what I had on, which was a Nur Spec built for a TT not the new NA one. So, with more restriction, I'm there may have been a wee drop in performance - as I said though, nowt noticable. Sound is still great though - loud enough and sporty when you hit the pedal but without the constant spitfire droning the Nur Spec had on motorways etc.
-
I'm hoping to be there at some point in the proceedings Tom. May just be for part of the drive there though as I'm not sure I can make the 2pm service.

As Tom says, I'm in the middle of planning what will hopefully be a full day event for club members to attend in memory of Lew. More details will follow in a new thread but please be patient, these things take a bit of getting off the ground and there's more to it than I originally anticipated - thanks for the pointers this afternoon Tom. Thanks for the funeral details too - will try and make it there. Take care folks
-
I changed my Nur Spec to a HKS Silent Hi-Power (NA version) and have not regretted it for one second!

Welcome to club - lets see some pics when you can...

Forgot to mention, I passed 'the tree' this morning on the A167 - totally welled up immediately

Any suggestions where to take it from here then Tom? I'm unsure of the logistics of organising anything massive that would include the whole Jap NE lot. Just thought it would be fitting as a more of a tribute from us given he was such an active participant on this forum. Would be kind of nice to 'keep it in the club' as it where? Was thinking that doing it like this would also help us appreciate how we all pull together on here. Without being over the top - a celebration of the cars, the people and the spirit that binds us together; a fitting tribute to a young enthusiast loved and lost, but not forgotten. Will pay a visit to the Jap North East site, see if they've got anything planned...

Will try and work out a few more details tonight and then post in the events forum with a link to it in this thread perhaps.

For some time now, I have been thinking about organising a Summer Cruise style meet and posting details in the NE events forum. This would typically consist of a few initial meeting points in the morning followed by a day up the Northumberland Coast stopping off at some nice pre-arranged spots for photo opportunities etc. (Alnmouth, Seahouses etc) Don't want to clog this thread up with specifics or details, but was now wondering if this could be a good idea/opportunity to do something in memory of Lewis from our Club's perspective??? Could even turn it into an annual event if all goes well. I am certain Lewis would have been up for this kind of thing. What do you guys think?

OMG - feel sick to the core reading this. Spoke to Lewis on here and in person a few times - truly, genuine Supra lover with an infectious enthusiasm not just for the Supe but for his life. RIP Lewis - my condolences go to your family.

Welcome to the club Dan, I'm sure £4500 will get you a decent example N/A - even off here... Are you looking for a stock example to keep stock or something you can work on?
-
Blimey Blackie! Who you insured with?
-
How much is he charging James for this level of work, if you don't mind me asking? Drop me a PM...
-
Reg was R771... Blue facelift with possibly LED converted rear lights? Lovely colour of blue mate - not RSP though is it?
-
The lambo grey one I posted used to belong to a guy on here called Cleland - don't know if he still has it though. I think ChiefGroover has his done in this colour too...
-
If I was looking to change colours I'd be looking at the colours produced by Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston Martin etc. They select colours that show off the cars at their best but still exude class to go with a touch of exotica!
