Then I'm going to have to put in place more sophisticated measures to stop the flood of requests the server is receiving. Just look at the top viewing stats on the main forum page: Most users ever online was 13,335, Yesterday at 17:34. At least the site now recovers automatically.

That many traders? My humble apologies.

Great news can’t wait for dragonball and summer party! Should easily get the spaces filled.

Looking at the load spike right now which seems to be originating from China, and noticed that the anti-spam tools we use have blocked over 16,000 registration attempts by spammers in the last 24 hours. Sorry if that means someone has missed out on a bargain Viagra offer.

You're doing a top job all involved. It is appreciated, without the work you put in we wouldnt have this absolute wealth of knowledge to fall back on and communicate over. Other car groups honestly aren't so lucky, or end up losing it all over issues like those you're tackling

Assume some issue are back? Or work being done.

Search actually does not work...........go figure, all these years of us telling people to search and now it is actually fooked (was searching for the Binky thread, nothing returned but it is there is off topic)

Also click on 'New Post's' returns nothing, even though I have replied to threads 30 seconds prior.

Loads of problems since this all happened.

Many threads inaccessible or missing, search is screwed up, ridiculous waiting time of 60 seconds when trying to use the search function the list goes on.

Forum still getting spammed, mods being really slow in acting too despite reporting the offending "new" member or their threads.

Even trying to circumvent the forum search option via a Google search doesn't work.

Agreed I’m getting all the same issues as yourself.

Some really important posts have gone for good mate.

Off topic was removed from the search results on purpose.

For sale and off topic were pruned back on purpose. The same as I've always done them, even if not for a long while.

Delays between searches were added on purpose.

I was hoping that if everything settle down with the server then I could reverse the search changes. But from what you guys are saying, it's still all broken, even though I've not witnessed it happening for a couple of weeks now. And the never ending backups, which were a symptom of server problems, hasn't happened recently. Last nights ran in just over an hour and a half, at 3am in the morning so I doubt that affected many UK members.

So when are people experiencing site unavailable problems now?

I'm not experiencing this anymore but can't speak for others. The forum is a little slower to load than usual but that is about it.

My problems are trying to find threads that aren't coming up via the search option. Even when using Google to search the forum many are inaccessible or missing. Then when trying to search again then getting hit with the waiting time of 60 seconds is annoying to say the least.

I tried searching for a few threads on tyres that were made a while ago, nothing could be found via the forum search. Google search picked them up but they had been wiped from existence. Same message as when a post is deleted.

Is there anyway to be more selective when deleting threads as a complete wipe from a particular date has lost a lot of info and discussions on that one topic alone. It's really frustrating.

Also, any chance of getting the current mods to be more on the ball where the spamming and reporting threads are concerned?

I know it's a thankless task but your efforts in maintaining the status quo are appreciated. Cheers Lee

Hi Lee,

What do you class as slow to react? We don’t get an instant notification when threads are reported so unless people sit on the forum all day there will be a delay in a thread being reported and it being removed. Those of us who don’t work for ourselves or at a holiday camp have core work hours and are not able to do things that are not work related ( I mean they are paying us to do work and they expect us to be working, crazy right!!) so we have to wait till lunch time to be able to browse the forum.

I think sometimes people think that we have contracted hours and shift patterns monitoring the forum which I’m sorry to burst people’s bubble is not the case. Inevitably due to the law of averages there are times when we will all be doing something at the same time that is not forum related. I personally have spent a good few hours this week deleting spam accounts that never got a chance to post and also in deleting the wave of crap that does manage to get through. The posts that get reported represent a small fraction of the ones that get posted and removed before people even get a chance to see them. I guess if people don’t see it happening it hasn’t happened.... but I personally don’t feel the need to keep a tally or make a public announcement every time I do something to better the forum.

Mike
