Sounds very much like the HD going. It can't find the HD, so it tries to PXE boot from the network. As Daman says, get the data off before it goes 'poof'. There is a small chance the it's the MB's HD controller, but I'd put money on the HD expiring.

A muppet did that to me once, luckily with it being a MK1 Capri, the handbrake cable broke.. Was still not a happy bunny.

I agree, last time I was in Tesco, the guy to the side of me was swiping his stuff, but hadn't pressed start. He wasn't delaying me so I just giggled to myself..

I used to drive up and down that road going to and from work all the time, shocking stuff. Also it's a quite a busy road for commuters into London. Wonder if this was the first time this had been tried, or if people had been lucky before. As others said, a dual carriageway, without any houses directly on it but not sure how close the housing is off to the sides though. Hope the monster who did this get caught and punished for this.

Pretty sure POP3 doesn't do anything to the mails on the server as standard. You just get a copy of them on the device.

Not sure as I use Google Mail, but am happy with that behaviour. If it was set up automatically by the phone, then it's probably using ActiveSync to connect, which means that this will always happen. You could delete the account and connect using POP3, depends if you want/need push mail or not. Paul.
