  1. Providing he pulls through OK, they may even still show it!
  2. Nope I'll be there on the Sunday
  3. He might live there, but he still can't spell it! Jim, there's an event coming up this weekend at the detling showground. Quite a few of us are attending if you fancy popping over. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=77046
  4. Hi Jim, Welcome to the club! Where in Kent are you from?
  5. It's the same airfield that TOTB is held on... There ain't no crash barriers there, but there is lots of soft-ish grass and fairly large run-offs so it could have been worse. Hope he pulls through. He does seem like a genuine guy and obviously loves his job.
  6. If it were a red one being whooped by Fensports Corrolla, that'd be me in stock(ish) trim....
  7. Bloody hell Bob, that sounds a lot of money, or is that for all three?
  8. Having a nine year old daughter this all worries us a lot. When she was seven-yes SEVEN she decided to stop eating because some stupid boy at school said she was fat (anyone who has met Dana will tell you she is nowhere near fat!). Luckily she has sensible parents and it didn't get serious. This morning they were discussing this on GMTV and she asked me what anorexia is, I only hope she never gets any bright ideas. At least once a week she tells me she's too fat-now she doesn't want to go to Brownies anymore because the trousers they have to wear make her look fat! However-in our house it's not the catwalk/fashion models that are giving her that idea because I don't buy magazines. I find it's the media (news channels and GMTV type programmes) constantly discussing it, telling the likes of Gerri Halliwell, Charlotte Church etc one month that she's a bloater and the next that she's lost too much weight. If they didn't mention it she wouldn't ever see it. It's also the children in the playground and the parents of those children with their pre-conceived ideas of what is normal. It's hard work making sure my daughter (136cms tall and and four stone) grows up without a complex about what others think of her.
  9. Ring the passport office as soon as you can. Eight days before flying to Spain this summer my friend realised her childrens passports had expired. She contacted the passport office who told her their nearest appointment was almost three weeks later! She did have to grovel and beg to get an earlier one, but it wasn't a case of just turning up on the day you want and they'll give you a new one. The wait shouldn't be as long as she had for an appointment because in fairness hers was in the middle of August-so obviously height of season. Chantelle
  10. They did a full gearbox oil change at the same time and it was after normal hours so we were chatting quite a bit, but it was only about 2 hours or so. I know he's got loads of V160, and I think he keeps the seals in stock too.
  11. If I get out of work at a reasonable time tomorrow, I'll pop over if you like. We can both scratch our heads and take sharp intakes of breath together
  12. Mark (Phoenix) did mine with the gearbox in situ. He replaced both upper and lower rear seals. Very reasonable price too. My only critisism is that Mark allowed me to get involved and I ended up with gearbox oil in my hair. Note to self... Let them get on with it!
  13. Can do Gaz. I'm only there on Sunday though...
  14. I think most of us have. Which is why Thor's one gets talked about a lot, because that's exactly what it does. 5/8ths pulses to the speedo, and 1:1 to the ECU clamped at around 110mph.
  15. PM'd For a minute there, I thought you were a hyper-intelligent mega-being
  16. The 80's had the best music videos
  17. Yellow Supra's and 80's music... We've just got good taste !
  18. Chantelle caught a spider like that one about 3 weeks ago. She also caught it in a glass and put a cloth over the top so that it couldn't get out. She stuck it in the garage, and the bugger is still alive! - How long can these things live for without food and drink? It's a hard b*stard too. If you touch the side of the glass it jumps towards your finger!
  19. The only battery back-up is within the siren, (unless they have had a full battery back-up kit fitted, which is very rare). Either way, having a battery back-up will never cause the remotes to not operate. If you have a Clifford Concept 600 on your car, theoretically, you shouldn't be able to drive the car without deactivating the immobiliser either via a remote or by using the valet code. The sirens have a 1 year warranty regardless of how long the battery has been disconnected. How do the batteries cope before installation! The batteries usually last for about 3 years. The siren itself will still work. Only the battery back-up part is buggered. Change the siren and it will all work again. That's not the turbo timer function. The turbo timer function can only last up to 8 minutes max. Usually set to about 2 minutes. If your car is a manual, doing the procedure you describe IS for the Intallistarts 'manual start enable' If you press the side button, then the bottom button, then remove the keys, the engine should still run. Exit the car and close the doors, then arm the alarm. The car should shut down. To restart by Intellistart push the star on the Icon remote or the right button on the old style master. You should get two indicator flashes and the car should start. Thats crap. Some dealers really piss me off with their money grabbing tactics. All they need to do is access the main unit and the programming plug will be accessible. They can re-program most things simply by using your valet code.
  20. If it's a Stirling, just make sure the alarm is off and it shouldn't cause any problems. The battery back-up should only kick in if the power is removed whilst the alarm is armed.
