Help us to help you! When posting technical problems...
caseys replied to Ian C's topic in mkiv Technical
Can you pre-populate new threads with any of the above as a template possibly? People can just delete it, or alternatively get laughed at if they completely ignore it and post below it all leaving it empty.. -
Hey Dnk, Before December it was running an EMB and last RR I think I got 455bhp odd at AFR once the head was rebuilt (valve stem seals were going so had them redone). It wasn't running more than that due to running on stock 550s with a walbro as duty cycle couldn't go much higher so kept it at safe limits AFR wise, was on that setup from when I bought the car early 2004 until I'd gone S6 with ID1000s, new manifold and FMIC in December so mapped after all the work was complete.

Hi Kaan, I sincerely apologise for my phone being off, my missus dropped her phone and broke it so she's had mine since midday Saturday. Just got her replacement back and so got mine back and just got your text messages once I'd popped my sim card in. Did instantly leap on the forum as thought it's too late to call you. I saw your PM from the other day when you got home and how you loved the car and thought all was great. If you'd PM'd me about this on the day it occurred I'd have got straight back to you as soon as I'd have seen the email. My phone is back and now on, sorry haven't been trying to be hard to get hold of, as you know I'd also completed on a house the day before. I'm not sure what to say really having now read this thread, as you know and can see from the paperwork the car had a lot of work and a full service in december, mapping in december too when everything was fine and I covered I think 2500 miles since then in the car (including the 250 miles to come see you and for your initial viewing of the car and another 300 mile round trip to MK). Having owned it for 8 years, running first about 460bhp then the 579 after discussing with Ryan that it was fine for the autobox I was happy with it's settings as I wouldn't have wanted to happen to the car what's happened to you with it within a week of ownership! I don't believe the power levels will have killed it, going off the fact that many Autobox people are now running that level of power. I covered at least 30k miles on that box without a single issue with it. The car's had regular oil changes inc gearbox and diff oil at regular intervals while I owned it so it's not like it's been through a lack of maintenance and as you could tell from when we first met it drove fine on the limit and also was fine on your test drive when I was showing you the functions of the gearbox before you drove it away. It's the original gearbox and cannot say I experienced any of the problems you've just had or from the texts I've just got through from you from the other day. Really am at a loss for words chap, 8 years and the only catastrophic problem I ever had with it was the crank pulley go on me about 5 years ago which I then replaced with a brand new stock one (and aux belt and Toyota radiator at the same time). Otherwise reliability wise it never let me down. You sent me a text asking what the red exclamation mark was on the dash that kept coming up, when did that start happening? Before or after the gearbox problems in this thread? What was happening at the time and were there any other lights on the dash coming up? The MIL should only come up if there's a problem and generally like in any car if it does you should generally stop and find out what's wrong. Did you get any logs off the syvecs and send them to Ryan? Wonder if there's any logging info left from when the problem started occurring. I'll give you a call tomorrow but really am not sure what else I can bring to this thread as I'm not too technical myself.

Over heating Issues continue, the fun continues... Please help
caseys replied to ripped_fear's topic in Supra Chat
You over Poole/Bournemouth way at all Sunday chap..? wondering if me and a friend might be able to have a look at it with you -
Congratulations I was ruled out due to being auto (discrimination I say!)

Didn't have an oil change when you got the turbo kit fitted?
-
Doh! So for comparison (ish, I can't get clarify on the graphs.. and different dynos so it's ballpark). I'd plot them both or make them more granular if I had the time... as admittedly the pre 3500rpm is the interesting part. I'd say I make positive boost from 1800-2000rpm mark. But looking at them unfortunately as my graph doesn't really start from 1800rpm I admit the info the OP wants isn't available. I'd say mine's fast to spool with a small AR housing on it. I'm afraid I haven't been in a T67 setup or a BPU, so I can't compare. ****** GT30 ****** GT35 HP LB **** 3000rpm 120bhp 200lb 112bhp 200lb 3500rpm 180bhp 260lb 210bhp 308lb 4000rpm 310bhp 405lb 385bhp 510lb 4500rpm 410bhp 460lb 485bhp 560lb (both reach peak torque 4600-4700rpm approx) 5000rpm 480bhp 505lb 530bhp 560lb 5500rpm 500bhp 475lb 555bhp 540lb

You have a dyno graph up anywhere chap to compare? Interested to see GT30 / GT35 comparison
-
I pretty much agree with you here Nic, the GT35 I'm running is *very* responsive. To the OP - seen my dyno graph in the ECU thread? http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?129455-Supra-ECU-Register/page8 Give Turbo Dynamics a call to talk to them about the GTX35 - 01202 487497 - helpful blokes.

Bit further than Fordingbridge but I know a man if you're struggling... but it's past Poole.

To add to this if it's a stock TT Crank Pulley Brake lines (if not braided) Aux Pulley if noisy Check when oil pump, water pump were changed? If it's had anything upgraded check the fuel pump maybe, injectors?

Did someone mention single turbo autos? North of 550bhp + autobox + syvecs traction control is something you've got to experience.

for sale UK Auto Single syvecs 580bhp - £8500 ono

Price drop to £8500 ono -
Also would advise to wait a few months. Normally the rates June-August are the most competitive throughout the year due to the fact that banks are trying to get people tied into deals because investment income is pretty lean due to tax year end / year start and people have ploughed money into ISAs etc. HSBC were doing some pretty competitive deals I saw. I can't honestly see the BoE going much more than 1% higher in the next 24 months. But then trackers/variable rates aren't tied much to the BoE rate now but more to banks own SVRs which is crappy. It always seems best to get the best fixed rate at the best LTV you can get then overpay. Edit : Just saw you're looking at interest only - Building Societies are best for this, but they're quite aggressive on their LTV.

Whaddya mean 500bhp? I'm happily running 580 Have a look in the for sale section - I may be biased here as I have a single-turbo auto for sale which has had all the thousands ploughed into it already It's one of those things that we have to start dispelling on the club I think. Just as when single-turbo people were questioning back in 2006-ish if 500bhp was good for the stock engine - which we generally know it exceeds if maintained properly. 450-500bhp on an auto is now not the 'munching it to bits' limit. I'm running a stock auto box with stock UK cooler setup with 580bhp. How? Simple... advances in mapping. It was the torque at shift which was killing autoboxes, so now you can have your ECU momentarily hold back some of the torque at WOT at the shift point, then ramp it back up when gear is fully engaged. Trust me a 0-60mph WOT pull on a stock auto feels very very impressive when you can get the traction! Mine's only running 580bhp @ 1.6bar due to the turbo size and stock cams rather than the box. Mapped to 1.8bar safely but just losing efficiency. Ditto, 580bhp/560ftlbs @ 1.6bar I've only owned a 5-spd NA manual, I liked it but have no experience of BPU, nor 6-spd. Edit : owned my auto now for nearly 6 years, all the time it's been single. I think looking at the ECU register it's the most powerful stock autobox in the club (but Ryan may know otherwise!)

wanted WANTED: Manual TT - Single Budget £12,000-£13,000
caseys replied to Sheefa's topic in Supra Classifieds
Not a fan of red? Admittedly mine is also at 121k miles. Your budget allows to buy mine and do a manual conversion -
Never heard of Robin Cooper I just remember reading this thread years ago http://www.27bslash6.com/overdue.html This is also pretty good, but he's not as good as Mr Thorne http://www.dontevenreply.com/allcomments.php?post=101

I'm not sure many will admit to using one! I was quite amused when I went to try and search for threads with BeeR and of course all I got was threads about beer
-
From the man that brought you the 'spider payment' email He's got a book out, tempting. The small preview you can get is kinda cool

I'm glad you got something more appropriate as a family vehicle chap.
