  2. Unfortunately a few friends have had a few bad dealings with Dawsons and someone on here's already recommended me not to go there! Ballpark figure for a re-spray is looking like £2000? Anyone?
  3. Hi Peeps, Builders doing work on my house decided to catch my nearside rear wing with a bright orange cement mixer which took a nice chip out of the rear wing. Luckily they've decided to pay for the work! Can anyone recommend a decent body/sprayshop in the south west (dorset/hampshire/wiltshire area) where I should go? I'm potentially thinking of getting the car re-sprayed a new colour anyway and the builder's cash could go towards a re-spray also what ballpark figure would be charged for an entire respray of the car? Also any recommendations on colour? Car's totally standard atm apart from 18" splits and an hks hi-power. Currently thinking of either a deep vibrant blue or a very dark black/red. Cheers
  4. Hi Guys, I seem to be a lucky sod, as walked into Game this morning and they had a premium in stock, so I've snapped that up I've got a core sat in my house that I ordered just in case, package was for a core with Project Gotham 3, NFS most wanted and perfect dark zero. Package cost me £360 in total, I guess delivery via courier would cost £15-20 too. Not really fussed how much I get for it as long as I'm not out of pocket (i.e I'd like £360 or more). If one of the games isn't wanted I'll knock off £30 per game you didn't want. Open to offers, just PM me, best one by end of tomorrow gets it. Will take paypal, or cash on delivery/collection. Can deliver if you're in dorset/hampshire, or welcome to come pick it up. Cheers
  5. Yay for 99Ron at branksome for 90.9! That's cheaper than 95 2 miles down the road in Bournemouth...
  6. Hi Guys, Apologise for probably the 1000th post about this subject, I've trawled through quite a few pages of the forum and couldn't find specific posts about brake upgrade questions I've got as most posts I guess are about upgrading j-spec TT brakes to UK spec... So I'm looking to upgrade my front brakes on my 1994 NA sup (as I've had far too many near misses and lock-ups.... yes I know cadence cadence cadence...), I'm just wondering what people recommend on course of action for this? Do I just order the UK TT spec discs from toyota, the bigger calipers and brake fluid and hoses and go this route? I was just wondering if the mount for the calipers is different on the TT to the NA on the imports, so would I have any difficulties? Has anyone fitted EBC pads and DBA drilled and grooved discs (294mm ones) which aren't a bigger diameter, but would hopefully give a bit better stopping power than standard stock? I've been given a quote from a toyota dealership for UK TT spec discs + pads + calipers for £600 inc. Is this a reasonable price? Anyone out there that can beat this? Cheers, Si
  7. Neither I'm afraid. I've seen 5 other sup's with LXXX WOW that I know are down here in Dorset, guess it's a popular plate with one of the importers.
  8. If anyone's interested... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470672207&category=32094 It's got a day left on the bidding.
  9. Yep, i did, got 4 photos of different supras that went down there, including a hot pink aerotop?? I'll try and post them on the forum tomorrow, as it's a bit late now. Oh and if you ever think of going and you've got either a non-standard exhaust or slightly lower ride height, you're going to bottom out getting out of the venue. Si
  10. Looks Like I'm going down there, I'll arm myself with my digital camera if I see anything decent. Watch this space. Si
  11. Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to have to assess what I want to do, it's all going to be determined as well on how much my insurance drops by when I've got my 2nd year's no claims and how much my NA is worth at the end of the year. If not I'll watch very closely how Dangerous Brian's going to do with his supercharging project. Ta Si
  12. Admittedly yes, there is cadence braking, engine braking, unfortunately when he pulls out in front of you with about 40mph odd difference with about 5 metres distance, I didn't really think in my head all this that I should apply. Not many people pull out into the fast lane on an A road at 30mph to avoid the filtering in traffic in the slow lane, so it's not something I'm normally looking out for. But admittedly, I've learnt my lesson. Unfortunately others haven't in not pulling out, or the good equation speed = distance/time, they just look for a visible gap one second, not checking how quickly it's diminishing. The speed sensors quote from Racelogic is literally meaning to fit ABS, where you do fit speed sensors to the hubs? As that's what a basic ABS system has isn't it? So hence my question about ABS so I've got I suppose the best for braking and deceleration, unless TC can act instead of an ABS circuit better for braking? Sorry, next time I'll explain I suppose why I'm asking what I'm asking about. Si
  13. Doh! Their website didn't state that I think, or me viewing it at 3am half asleep doesn't really help. ABS though will also help stop me flat-spotting a pair of fronts everytime someones doesn't use their wing mirrors and pulls out in front of me like they did 6 weeks ago. It's not fun paying £300 for another new pair of 225/40/18's when the current pair were 4 weeks old...
  14. Anyone got any ideas how much it'd cost to fit ABS to a JZA80? Also is it even worth considering? I ask this because eventually I'd like to try fitting a turbo kit to it, playing around with it and getting some knowledge of the car, I know this might seem like a very steep slope. But I need ABS if I want to go talk to the nice people at racelogic about getting TC put in it. If so, anyone got any pointers on who I should go talk to about this? Or would most of you say I'd be better of selling it and getting a TT with it all in when I can? Cheers Si
  15. I'd not recommend meeting in the Ski Centre, a few weeks ago some cars got broken into there, so I think if there were 3-5 supras parked there, there'd be a bit of a temptation. But then that handy torque wrench in the back is great for beating, I mean fending off your average thieving b*****d. Your best bet would be to name a sensible place to goto in Ringwood to meet up, or as suggested, the Causeway pub. So, how many people are actually going to this now? Si
  16. Talked to Triton regarding fittings, but they didn't say what sort of unit they would fit, they quoted around £400 again, inc labour but ex vat. I'll check out Envy as well, but as I'm working shifts and working 108 hours in the next nine days, I haven't got the time!
  17. I think it's actually a JZA80. It's too cold and wet to go outside and unarm it to check with a torch right now, but it's a jap import '94 non-turbo.
  18. Thanks Dude, Yep we've got full access to two ramps, we've done a clutch change on a M3 BMW but that's about it for RWD cars. I'm not so much after traction control because I'm getting a good feel for when it's going to go (it's only surprised me once in 10 months now) but more the ABS because of the cost of tires! Any recommendations on brands of clutches or what it's going to cost me? Somone I met last week had one done on the same model for £380, but stupidly I forgot to ask for the details off him.
  19. Hi I'm a newbie to the forum, first post, be gentle! I'm just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on my clutch, it's generally really heavy, makes a slight squeeky sound for the first five minutes whilst the engine's cold then that goes away. I think the unit's on the way out because it's real difficult to get into 1st and 2nd. Is there anywhere where I can get a decent clutch replacement? I've been quoted by my local Toyota dealership in Poole for £435 ex VAT, ex labour at £50/hour. Also they couldn't even tell me how long it'd take to fit! I've now got off the net the full technical manuals for all the Mk4's and we've got full access to a garage and could do a clutch change myself, but I've not found anywhere decent to buy one online or anywhere. Met someone last week who had one fitted for less than £400 inc labour. I'd be quite willing to travel anywhere within 150ish miles of the south coast. Also can anyone tell me if they've done a ABS conversion on one of these? Racelogic seem to do a system but it's quite pricey. I'm asking this because even though I'm riding 265/35/18 at the rear, 225/40/18 at the front, I've not got enough traction and already flatspotted a pair of fronts when someone pulled out in front of me on a 60mph road. Joy. Cheers Simon
