1. is this a standard colour for ferrari? I'm very much tempted to spray my supra this colour however i'm being strick and staying oem white, if i was to buy a ferrari (if i was ever rich enough) i'd be looking for this colour, i think it looks fantastic
2. its going to hold its value better due to the gearbox, however it would depend on the standard of repair to the damage, i wouldnt pay 6k for a damaged na 6speed thats around the money for a clean one
3. look forward to seeing how this developes, seems to tick the boxes i'm after
4. Haha I don't work with the most creative people so it was just 'this forum is sh#t' I spend quite a bit of my shift browsing the site so they think I'm a bit sad, On a separate note, enjoying following the build, will be great when it's finished
5. ignore this post, left my account open on the works computer again...
6. I haven't commented on this before but I've loved following the work done and the lengths gone in the build, the quality of the workmanship shows and after a good clean she'll be looking fantastic, looks like your running slicks on the rear from the latest pics, that to help lay down the power
7. want to adopt a loving 22yr old boy? you actually dont have to even meet me or fund my life in anyway, just supply me with these lovely cars suppose its worth a shot, very jealouse such a lovely car
8. jetwashing the engine sounds bad for any gaskets it comes into contact with?
9. I'd be interested dependant on time scale?
10. It reminds me of this picture, I pinched from this forum some months ago, If I was to buy a second (maybe one day) I'd love to kit it like that
11. Aimed at the perfect height to blown women's skirts up! (Failed to find the correct up skirt pictures, I do apologise )
12. I have a TT car so it may not be completely relevant, But i have an apexi twin box system on my supra and its relatively quiet on idle with a bit of noise high up the RPM, but not over the top, personally i'll be looking for a new system some point this year, as i'm wanting something a bit louder
13. the answer will be, 'pay your membership, then you can use the for sale/wanted section of the forum' which i agree is your best port of call, for £10 this forums a fantastic source of knowledge
14. I managed to get mine all booked up, I can't wait, one of the reasons that tempted me into finally getting my supra above other cars was these trips away, I got caught in the control room by my plant manager on the internet, he wasn't too pleased but i see it as worth it! already purchased my euro travel kit Now just to get my gearbox fixed and get my arse to some meets before we go away, put a few names to faces
15. would love to come to meet up, but unfortunately my supra still in the garage with gearbox trouble, should hopefully sorted by feb if all goes to plan, if people dont mind i can pop through in my 4x4 date depending
16. I didn't actually get to see the work carried out, it was left with my mechanic and was at work at the time, so unfortunately I do not know Also I know its a known method but a screwdriver to the ear is asking for damage I'll link this topic to my mechanic and see what he thinks, Personally I'm quite convinced its due to a fault with the rebuild of the box as I have lost faith in the 'gearbox specialist' due to my experience with him, which has been far beyond a joke, however its a hard position to deal with when your gearbox is in bits on his bench I'm confident in my mechanic to do the installation correctly, as the parts replaced (clutch kit and flywheel) before the box was removed and rebuilt were fitted and where the original knock remained the noise in the videos shown didn't develop until later Hi Chris, I haven't actually been in touch with yourself about the matter, but your help would be appreciated. After speaking to my local Toyota parts counter it does seem that parts become expensive real quick, to replace 2 syncro's it was nearly £800 inc vat just for the syncro's, so I understand where you coming from with the price, The car is a road car and across summer it will be used regularly, to the point of nearly being a daily driver also I have a few driving trips to Europe planned for next year , so maybe a 'race' transmission would not be the best way to proceed, and I would like to keep the car as close to stock/returnable to stock, Obviously there is an extent to the cost that I'm prepared to pay for the gearbox fix, but I'm not looking to skimp on the rebuild I want it to be right. I have a decent disposable income, but with other costs foreseen in the new year I'm not looking to go overboard. I think I'll have to do some research into prices of boxes and their actually availability to be purchased new, or maybe ship the spares from America if that works out cost efficient. A transmission specialist who works with Getrag in the UK would be helpful if somebody has one of those? preferably the north but I know that's unlikely as most things are in the south
17. Jacks will probably be my next port of call in the new year, i'll email them tomorrow with a few questions I have, however I do feel that there must be a uk company offering a similar service and save on the £££'a of shipping? The car has just had a new clutch and flywheel, and I trust that they have been installed correctly, and were installed before I the gearbox build and the car didn't make this noise
18. The cost factor wasn't the issue, I'm happy to spend what ever is needed, It's the fact I couldn't get my head around the syncros causing a knock in gear, and after him having my box with no real progress for 2 months I'd lost all faith in the 'specialist' however was in a pickle of my gearbox being in bits on his work bench
19. The guy who stripped my box said the 1st and 2nd syncro had excessive wear, but I could not grasp how this would affect every gear or nock whilst in gear when he syncros are not in 'use', and due to the £800 price inc vat I turned down them bring replaced However they didn't make this noise before the box was stripped
20. brand new flywheel installed along with clutch, problem persisted and then gearbox removed, this noise is new since the gearbox has been stripped and rebuilt, i presume my mechanic has done all the fitting work correctly
21. In all honesty I'm more bothered about getting the car sorted, I'll chase that up after, I've owned the car 4 and a bit months, and it's been in the garage the last 12 weeks, so they have had it longer than me in my ownership, I just want to know the problem and the fix at this moment in time
22. So after the 'transmission specialist' has had my gearbox 10-11weeks, it is now back in the car, worse than it was originally removed, PISSED OFF doesn't even come close, From what was a nocking on gear changes/ on and off throttle in gear it now sounds like this, http://youtu.be/XrPT85xR2WA http://youtu.be/MXLgjs6SNiY Has anyone got any idea's on the cause I'm guessing incorrectly assembled, could anyone point me in the right direction to a true professional who can sort my gearbox issue, I know there is jacks transmission in America, But is there anyone UK based? Thanks in advanced
