  1. Sorry I never made this meet, 14 hours of drinking the day before has lead to a day of laying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and have been in no fit state to drive anywhere, i've been told by the garage i'll have my supra back tuesday so i'll be up for the next one hope you all had a good day
  2. still havent had news back from the garage on my supra, but i've still got 10 days so hopefully its home, also its snow depending, its been snowing in my village today so i won't be taking the supra to castleford if its snowing but will come in my 4x4 the worse the weather the better
  3. I'd say that's an excellent price, I've recently been quoted £4k to get mine bare metal windows out resprayed, the guy has won a couple of shows for paintwork, but I'm from up north where everything is cheaper than the south, from the pictures the quality looks great, I'd be real happy, so i best have a shop around
  4. haha:p the troubles of london eh? after my one driving experiance there i dont know why anyone drives, as much as i hate the tube system it works better than driving
  5. And where is the fun in that? need a good challenge every now and again, But I am also in the same boat the Supra is one of my weekend toys the other is a Modified 4x4 so every year i actually beg for snow so i can get out onto the moors and have a 'play' also being selectable 4wd and rwd makes it even more fun in the snow
  6. thats because you don't see real weather daaann souutthh and the city hides it, even for me driving from work to home (6miles) in the winter the difference when it snows, can be dry floor at work and when i get home its 6" deep in snow But i do admit the supra isnt fun in the wet when your just trying to cruise home, from a night shift or something when your tired, however its good fun for a bit of a Hoon in the wet out the way in the middle of the moors
  7. mines been garaged for the last 8 weeks, but not for the right reasons its with my mechanic trying to sort this knocking in my gearbox, however when it eventually gets back to me it will most likely sit in my garage at home until this salt has washed off the roads
  8. 21st gives me more time to get sorted hopefully However this wont be an early morning thing will it? i'm on a pub crawl the day before so might be a bit hungover for the morning
  9. well ignore me then, learn something new every day
  10. I'd be interested in this, depending on what Single turbo kit its runningand condition etc etc
  11. I thought I would of deffinately had the supra back by now, but still no progress on my gearbox, If its all sorted by the date for the meet i'm up for it, but can't really say untill I find out more about my car
  12. okay cheers i'll have a look
  13. i'll double check my documents in the morning but i'm almost 100% that its insured as a jspec as i'm positive its i confirmed this on the phone to her, i do find with quotes that earlier supra's are cheaper for me to insure than facelift models, but as you have brought this to my knowledge i'll check, it may also confuse you more by the price that i have only been driving just over 2 and a half years, but i get similar quotes on similar performance cars that are uk cars
  14. I'm with admiral on a family multicar policy had 10 month remaining but I also added breakdown cover from anywhere in the UK, The details are correct as they haven't changed about from the length of driving, paid excessive for my first years driving (£2700 for my first year on a Suzuki Jimny, that dropped to £800 in my second and have used the same details ever since It made a difference quote wise it being a pre-facelift it nearly halved the cost so when the women on the phone told me the price after buying the car I practically threw my money at her
  15. yeah I agree I've just turned 22 and I've insured my TT supra for £530 a year leaving my no claims on my other car and my postcode isn't amazing for insurance, I'd definitely be shopping around for something else
  16. I presume that will of been changed during the new clutch going in, as its a normal item to replaced when refreshing a clutch, but i will ask him I think i'll ask him if we can put the car back on the ramps and have a good look whilst i'm there so i can try update this thread a bit better, but after the flywheel and clutch he rang me and assured me the noise was from the Gbox itself Google hasn't really been my friend with this problem either, it seems the v160 is pretty indistructable so there ins't much info on common problems with the gear box
  17. Its in northumberland so a little bit away but JM Imports are up there
  18. It has been on the lift in his garage, after the clutch and flywheel replacement he inspeceted the drivetrain and says its deffinately coming from the box itself, how ever I havent been there whilst its been in the air, so i'm going off what he says The box is currently on a workbench so currently cant be replicated on the car, but i also havent seen the box off the car so i dont know if it is making the clunk whilst on the workbench either It nocked on power delivery during gear changes or on and off power whilst in gear I've been told the props been inspected and and is okay I'll get him to look at the diff bush's but he's quite confident its the box itself no it was a clunk, could be felt through the clutch pedal and gear stick, and when coming on and off power in gear thanks for the input so far
  19. My v160 box has been clunking on gear shifts and on and off throttle, like a Knocking as if something was loose, however it has TRD gbox mounts (okay), engine mounts okay, diff okay, prop okay, so my next port of call was dual mass flywheel, (whilst it was out i've changed the clutch) hasnt solved it, and my mechanic says the noise if deffinately coming from the box itself, so the next port of call was to give it to a transmission specialist (who seems to have taken the piss time scale wise) and he has now stripped the box and says the only obvious cause of the nocking is worn 1 & 2 syncro's how ever from my limited understanding of gearboxes i struggle to see how this would cause knocing in every gear, and when in gear my thoughts you be something that is linked to every gear such as an input shaft or bearing etc? i know i'm asking the impossible trying to find a fault from my rubbish description but can anyone offer any advice or help? if i'd of known the rebuild (or not so much rebuilt) was going to take so long (nearly 7 weeks) i'd of sent my box to america to be fixed, but live and learn ey? thanks in advance Mike
  20. I'm interested to see the state of mine as i've got a new one to fit, was it a big job to replace?
  21. I'm up for this if newbies are allowed! Might end up testing how good of a GT car the supra is with a sleeping bag in the boot! but would be worth it!
  22. Yeah most likely, how ever teesside isn't a great postcode to insure things, However £1000 mark I'd say is pretty good considering the car, and to be honest after the few months of owning mine I'd happily pay £1000 to drive it, best purchase I've made
