has anyone ever ordered one from there sucsessfuly? i went to my toyota parts counter in stockton, normally very good on price and give me 20-30% off most orders, but that still makes for an expensive box at £14-16k
-
so i thought i'd go see my local parts counter and price up a new v160 seeing as i'm having such a chew on with mine, i nearly had a heart attack when he told me the price... £20,000 for the gearbox with a months lead time, i couldnt believe it, safe to say that order hasn't gone in, however he's going to ring around and see what he can do for me, so i'll update in a few days when he gets back to me.

I'm running vredestein ultrac sessanta after reading through previous topics on here, I find them great for the price, be it the only tyres i have ran, but they really pick up well in the dry and the wet grip is okay, but try not to drive the supra in the wet anyway as they are a bit rear end happy, i do find when really pushing the car through the corners the rear end can loose grip, but its rather progressive and easy to control, this may also be due to the roads i'm driving being quite bumpy (north yorkshire moors) sometimes at speeds probably not to talk about on a public forum (obviously private and closed roads ) again these are the only tyres i have used so do not have great knowledge but i wouldnt have a problem purchasing them again.

Dont bring this up i was days away from buying it was a logstic nightmare then very nearly went and got it from london, but sold the week before i was due to go to london I got my TT6 cheap, i thought i had an absolute bargin (sub 8k august 2014) but now with the gearbox trouble i'm having i just wish i had got a fresh import sometimes cheap isnt a good thing, i'm learning the hard way
-
I thought I might be the youngest tt owner, I got my tt6 just a week before my 22nd birthday as a treat to myself, it's nice to see such a variation in ages within the community

I've decided to accept defeated that my car will not be ready in time to attend this, so my place will be up for grabs? it pains me to do this if this is still possible this close to the time? i feel the only fair way is the first person who commented showing expressing their wish for a spare ticket gets 1st grabs? if they decline so on and so on i understand if it is to late to change the person antending

My knock seems to have gone, gearbox mount is a Trd mount engine mounts seem fine etc etc I'm left with this rattle now http://youtu.be/MXLgjs6SNiY I come from a world of off roaded 4x4s where my finding my gear is like stirring soup untill something clicks in my gearbox half filled with oil/which ever river I've just driven through, I find the v160 box quite nice to shift and the mechanical feel quite reassuring Also i would just like to once again thank the people who commented/pm'd offering to let me drive their cars this forum seems to have a great atmosphere compared to many other forums I am a member of

dual mass is new, i also got a new clutch kit from toyota so only can presume the release bearing was replaced at the same time, but will confirm that tomorrow when i collect my reciept from toyota thats at the garage its been to 2 gearbox specilists who both assured me they can fix it, has been opened i've been told there is nothing wrong with the box, tried changing a 'preload' spring and has seemed to have no effect on the rattle, but the knocking has gone or so it would seem mileage on the car is around 80,000m if i've got the km and m correct
-
Been and collected the car today, the knocking between gearchanges seems to have be sorted, so really i'm not looking to drive another members car as that issues appears to be fixed, but there is a rattle whilst the box idles with no power going through it, which goes when the clutch is pressed or reciving some power delivery a 2nd box would still be much appreciated as that would cancel out my doubts about it actually being the gearbox, atleast the cars home now and i can think about my next move with it, petrol seems tempting!
-
It was knocking on and off power delivery/gear changes but being new to the supra world i was sure it was an issue with the car, not i'm not so sure, but hope to find the cause soon
-
if this was last year i'd be down every other week and would of been great but i'm now never there, I do plan to come down in summer, but i'll be taking a gallon on petrol and a box of matches to the car if its still not sorted by june/july but cheers anyway
-
haha I'm tempted just to have a go in a single, but i know that would end up costing me even more money as i'd have a craving for more power, but unfortunatly i'm not around that area, cheers anyway That might be an option i could consider also, cars is currently mot'less and taxless as its been sat up for such a period, however i plan to rectify that this week, so i may be in touch shortly cheers

Right, I’ll put a bit of a back story first, got my supra back in august had a knock (I was informed of this before purchase, but it was a bit of a bargain so I couldn’t turn it down), thought it was flywheel (it wasn’t) mechanic assures me it’s my gearbox, sent it off to 'gearbox specialist' number 1 had the box for 3 months came back worse, get it back off him, move onto 'gearbox specialist' number 2 who I’m locally recommended and assures me he can fix it, 3 months later no joy, today I’ve had enough I’m going to collect my car back bring it home and decide the next step, so my requests, I’m now unsure it’s my gearbox or if I actually have a problem and it’s not just the nature of the supra, my heads just filled with doubt in both mechanics and myself, I’m booked up to go on DB but if it’s not sorted this week I’ll be putting my place up for grabs (if that’s still okay at this time?) but it will pain me greatly to do so as I was looking forward to it! Is there a local member who would be willing to let me have a drive/ literally 100-200 yards just to see if this 'knock' I feel is just the v160 box, Teesside, north Yorkshire or surrounding areas? I’m willing to travel Or request number 2; is there somebody who has a spare working v160/161 box that I would be able fit to my car, to make sure it is definitely my gearbox causing the issue? Could be in and out the car in 1-2days and then returned to the rightful owner, i would need to confirm with the mechanic a date that would work for both parties to have it in and out in the quickest time if the latter option is available, I would be willing to hand over a substantial deposit to cover any doubt that I’m going to run off with the gearbox, as I understand I’m a relatively new to the forum and may not be trusted like a long standing member and the gearboxes hold great value

its quite a common thing to get rattle with a lightened flywheel, normally the Dual mass flywheel absorbs the extra transmission noise, as far as fitting the bearing i'm sorry i can't help you there i'd just leave that to my mechanic

sold Stock 6spd Clutch and Flywheel - Less than 10k miles on the clutch
crock replied to Scott's topic in Parts for Sale
i bought both a clutch and flywheel from toyota in october thinking it would fix my knocking issue (turned out to be gearbox) anyway i paid £1kish with discount from my local toyota dealer, so i agree the aboved is priced well -
i dont have anything to add technically, but reading this gave me a good giggle this morning, even though the bread obviously works, its just amusing to think this method is being used

Summer maddness at Croft saturday may 9th
crock replied to safcdixon's topic in England - North East
i'd be interested in going, but cant fully commit as i'm nights the 5th and 6th so would have to get the 5th off minimum and go to work after the show so i'll leave my name off the list, but this is a show of intrest also would anyone be interested in doing track time also? -
I cant see jeremy going, the bbc invested est 30mill buying the rights to top gear, they know it would be suicide for the show to sack him. however i agree chris harris is a entertaining to watch, however he isnt top gear

that colour is just brillaint, you must be so happy with the final product of the build, i know i would be!
