  1. It snowed whilst I was in work today. Just a light dusting, maybe a couple of cm's covering the carpark. Supra DID NOT like reversing out of its space. Roads were ok, but it's snowing again now and my driveway is sloped. Not sure I'll even get him going in the morning. Hmmmm
  2. True, he did. Wonder if any took him up on the offer. I still find those pictures amusing, though... and still don't know why he wouldn't answer mine or other's emails.
  3. Fair dues to the guy coming back to answer some of the questions. Why then does he not answer emails? Why make it awkward for legitmate buyers to go view his cars? He says they turn over ten times the competition, and yet they can turn away people they don't like. Are there really that many people buying Supra's? When I was hunting for my first Supra the initial ads I stumbled upon were for PBC. I contacted them to enquire about a car and got no response at all. I had cash waiting and they had no idea who I was except my name and county. Why didn't they respond? I also contacted Jurgen at the same time who responded almost immediately (great customer service). Says it all really... And is it just me, or do you feel like 'Paul Brown' should be holding up a copy of today's newspaper in those shots? Can't help but think they dragged some poor fella from the offices nearby to pose...
  4. When I was at uni (psyche degree), I worked with a severely autistic boy for 6 months. He was 5 yrs old and had no speech whatsoever. He had a teacher (like me) for 6 hours every day Mon-Sat (his parents sold a valuable property in London to fund this). We sat one-on-one and conducted lessons with him. These generally involved getting him to perform a task for a reward (think positive reinforcement). He had a salt/savoury palette, so he used to get things like food treats or music and free time as a reward. The tasks I'm sure he saw as games anyway. He had to sort items into tubs (never seen such clever sorting, or so fast!), or match photographs with the right name of the person. Some tasks involved him pointing to items etc etc. As he got the hang of a task, he'd also have to ask for a specific reward using a book with velcro words (eg, crisps, crackers, etc). As time went on we tried to reinforce his speech using these games. Progress was slow and some days were bad, but he was a very happy little boy. The key things IMO were routine, music and the positive reinforcement. If he was naughty (which happened a bit - he'd go through phases of hitting his head on walls/floors etc), he'd be made to sit with no eye contact for a set period of time. It was hard work, but so rewarding and seeing his progress was great. The main thing I realised was that he was happy because he knew no different. Keep fighting for him, enjoy the small things and the little victories.
  5. No idea if this is relevant or not, but my old Fiat used to regularly throw up random error messages. Occasionally it would show 'alternator failure' on start up. When it did, nothing else on the car worked. Power steering failed, brakes failed, pretty much everything electronic. Turning it off and restarting it would solve the problems, but it was a definite case of car thinking the alternator was bust so everything was shut down by the ECU. Might explain the other errors your friend is getting?
  6. Must have been the day for it today. I got an 'out of the window full arm wave' by one guy in Audi and then had an old guy stop me when parked up. Said he had a mk3 before and loved it, Celica's before that. Thought mine was beautiful. 'Like a rocket' he kept saying. When I told him it was very low mileage (40k), he said it's only just broken in. Was a very friendly old chap and said I had a great classic and I should never get rid. I intend to oblige. Funnily enough, I was stopped in the same carpark a couple of weeks back and approached by a guy in an Hawaiian shirt(!) who's ex wife used to have a '2.8 ltr' version. I just nodded and tried to edge away safely... Mine seems to get the most attention from van drivers, kids and oldies in flash cars.
  7. I can only tell you what we did, and we didn't do anything at the ODO at all because I wanted that to stay in KPH (therefore I can't help with this bit and I think the process may be different if you wanted to change the ODO to MPH.) This was our process as discussed with Pete at Thor and stevie_B here who was a massive help. I would advise to get in touch with Pete at Thor if you have further problems, though. As I said before, my car is running sweet, fixed the OD flashing light error and also is now running within a 2mph of the correct speed as per GPS. Haven't had a chance to check if the delimiting part as worked yet Basically this is what we did with the Thor installation: Cut the blue/red stripe wire coming from pin 5 of the blue plug. Attached the blue wire from the Thor (prev white wire on old device) to the plug side of this cut cable. Attached the grey wire (prev green) to the loom side of the cut wire. Spliced the red wire into the yellow wire coming from pin 4 on blue plug (this is as per the Thor instructions). Spliced the black wire into the red wire coming from pin 3 on blue plug (this is as per the Thor instructions). Extended the brown wire (prev yellow) down to the ecu. Cut the pink wire on the ecu and attached the brown extended wire to plug side of this cut (taped off the loom side of cut pink wire). The Thor had a sixth wire which is purple. The instructions made no mention of this so we taped the end and ignored it. Hope you get sorted.
  8. Lol. That clip should have been on the Supra advert - "spacious boot..." I had to struggle to get a cool box in mine last week!

    SRD Speaker Brackets

Just to say - got mine in the post this week (though I think they'd been waiting for me since the week before...) and they look great. Nice quality and even impressed the BF! Thanks to SRD
  10. Me: I need a new car. Something practical like I have now so we can throw the dogs in and go camping. BF: Do you remember that white Supra you used to see every day when you were young? Me: I bet they're expensive and impractical. BF: Buy a car for you for once. A few months later and there's a Supra sat on the drive next to a Corrado, dusty camping equipment in the loft and disgruntled dogs in the house. BF: Can I borrow the Supe? I think he likes it – a lot.
  11. If you do buy a new unit from Thor, the unit has changed so the wiring on the new one doesn't match this guide. Pete at Thor emailed me the new colours as below: "RED = 12V (red on old unit) BLACK = 0V (black on old unit) GREY = KPH Input (green on old unit) BLUE = MPH Output (white on old unit) BROWN = Speed Delimited Output (yellow on old unit) So wire the box to the speedo and extend the brown wire down to the ECU where you will CUT the pink wire and connect the brown extended wire to the ECU side." There is also a purple wire coming out of the new unit. I did nothing with this (just insulated it) as neither Pete nor the paper instructions said to use it. The unit works well and I've had no problems. I didn't wire into the ODO plug, though, as I wanted that to continue to count up in kilometres.
  12. Mine fitted in with no issues whatsoever.
  13. I've got the Pioneer AVH2400BT. Looks awesome. IPhone compatible and phone works really well. Has front USB but no rear one (I use one of the tiny high gig flash drives). Can buy add-ons such as rear camera and sat nav (tho that's a bit pricey). Looks really smart on the supe and fits well. Wouldn't have anything but a Pioneer now. I think this is our third.

    SRD Speaker Brackets

Agreed! They're not that big! I presuming they'll take 73mm, in which I'll take some. I'll pm you. Ta

    SRD Speaker Brackets

Have you got some of these in for delivery now? If you have, do you know if they'll take 730mm depth speakers? Thanks!
  16. No ideas what the others fit like, but with these you insulate the little stabiliser with tape and attach the pos and neg. We spliced into the cigarette lighter bulb. Pos to the yellow/green and neg to the white/green. This way the dials come on with the lights and the dimmer works on the dials too.
  17. So after some faffing and the fitting of a converter/delimiter (not to mention getting the speedo to work properly), I finally have my new custom purple dials fitted. I cannot thank Moman enough for all their help, especially as I was quite particular about the exact colour and design I wanted. Unlit before fitting: At night (the camera washes out the other colours a little, but I'll think you agree the purple is awesome):
  18. Gonna have to opt out too on this occasion. I need new speakers more than I need new mats right now. - - - Updated - - - 1) fightersblue (depending on price) 2) fosta (depending on price) 3) mplavery 4) stevo 5) l.chris97 6) jcbtt 7) RHochreuter 8)
  19. Mine had one when I bought it. Kept it and do actually quite like it. This is an old pic, though.
  20. Pete at Thor has told me the device has changed which might be why there's the confusion. I think I'll need to mash-up the instructions from here and those that came with device. Hmmm
  21. Guys, I was wondering whether anybody has bought and fitted a *new* Thor converter/delimiter recently? I received mine from Thor a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting for my new dials to arrive so I can fit both at the same time. I am struggling with the instructions, though as they don't match with the guide on here. Specifically, the instructions from Thor do not mention anywhere about running a cable to the ECU. I have emailed Thor about this, but as yet they haven't responded. If anyone has fitted one recently, can you give me a shout so I know which instructions to follow? Thanks.
  22. You can get some plasma dials made that only go up to 120mph. They can do any spec dials as long as they have a template to work from. My Supra currently has an mph dial in that is exactly like this (max 110mph). However, for the sake of any future mods, I decided to get my plasma dials made up to the 180mph range. I also bought a Thor converter to fit. I figure if I'm going to the trouble of having custom dials made, I may as well get the car delimited and converted too. FYI, my car reads too fast on the current dial by about 6/7mph. When I get figure out the Thor instructions, I'll be fitting both and posting pics.
  23. Thanks... and for the record, I'm not going to 'weld' anything... I was thinking about solder, but obviously my brain didn't tell my fingers that... Doh. Typing fail.
